Thank you, Bioware. This DLC was everything I could have asked for and more.

On the forefront, the story was really good. While I got spoiled on who the main badguy was, I got genuinely surprised at a number of areas during the story of this DLC (though I haven't had the party yet at the time of this writing; I'm waiting until after Horizon to do it so everyone that I possibly can bring will come). The dialog was hilarious, I was laughing throughout it. The interactions between all the squad-mates, all the friendly banter back and fourth was completely wonderful, easily some of the best writing in the game. I'm also really glad that you put that chain of Paragon interrupts in that one dialog section; it was nice to see Shepard being a badass and Paragon at the same time. But not just that, it was all of the silly little shout-outs of different aspects of the series, from Shepard's lines to the NPCs poking fun at the Multiplayer (seriously, the Fury talking with the Alliance supplier almost made me fall out of my chair with how much I was laughing; now I know who to blame when the RNG doesn't give me the gear I need).

There's still more for me to do before I'm fully done with this DLC (and I know the Armax Arena will keep me coming back, because it's a great source of income fighting enemies I'm so used to fighting in the multiplayer), but one thing I wanted to point out, and I have no idea if maybe my comments about this were head by someone (doubtful, but it's always nice to hope)...

I've always wanted a single armor set that was tailored towards casters (adepts, engineers, caster Sentinels, which my Shepard is) that looked kinda like the armored clothes Liara frequently wears. I know we got the Blood Dragon armor and the Inferno armor, but I never liked the Inferno armor's color (I much prefer the customizable version that the N7 Paladin wears) and didn't like the Blood Dragon armor's looks. The Cerberus Spirit armor answered all of my prayers. It has stellar stats for casters, completely blowing the Inferno armor out of the water, and it looks fantastic to boot. This will be the armor I wear from beginning to end from now on. I'm also really happy that the M-7 Lancer was added. I was so happy to hear that gun was added to the multiplayer, a strong assault rifle that was very light so it worked well in the hands of a caster. The Phaeston may still hold a special place in my hear, but the Lancer is my go-to-weapon from now on.

Again, thank you, Bioware. This DLC was everything I could have hoped for and more. It's a great final farewell to Shepard and I wish nothing but the best for you and your future endeavors.

This DLC put a big smile on my face. There were a lot of great moments even if some of the story was silly. I really liked the side-content part of the dlc where you invite people up, or go meet them at the wards.

This dlc was excellent, and very good.

About the only real downside in this whole thing was the fact that the villain was a clone. I liked it since it showed how much different shepard would be if he didn't have his friends by his side helping to shape who he was as a person. But at the same time, many might feel this to be a bit too out of left feild, with little actual foreshadowing of this.

But other than that, you guys did a very good job with the dlc, especially with the squad banter and humorous dialogue. You guys even got some subtle stuff, like shepard using biotics in cutscenes, which all added to the enjoyment and personalized feeling for this dlc.

So here's my little review.

If you like Mass Effect, you should buy this. This has pretty much everything that you love in the Mass Effect universe apart from the galactic extinction event, which was all easily forgotten, but this is my only gripe with the content.

The combat from different areas of the citadel that were completely new were really fantastic and didn't dwell on them too much like they did on Omega, or at least it felt like that. Immediately when I found the M7 Lancer (?) I used that for the remainder of the game with my level 60 Shepard soldier. It was broken up really nicely with intervals such as breaking into the panic room and the other non-combat moments that it was a really nice change of pace.

So, my LI for this was Ashley and overall it went really well! It didn't feel forced like "hey this is the last time we'll see each other" but a nice extension on what Shepard and Ashley would do in a more social situation. The red carpet sequence was pretty funny and also doing shots that was prematurely interrupted.

So I was really impressed with how the characters were dealt with in the Citadel package, like super impressed. I was gob-smacked to see Wrex back as a squadmate and he really was brilliant! I missed having that guy around, fantastic comic relief but also a very good and well balanced squad mate.

The Shepard clone portion of the content, yeah, it was a bit goofy but that's ok. That's typical science fiction stuff that brought me into the series back in ME1. I also didn't see Brooks turn on me, so that was a pleasant surprise that caught me off guard.

My favourite moment in the content was being locked away with Ash and Wrex debating whether I say "I should go." right, it was down right hilarious! "I thought it was a human thing!" then just getting gliph to help out.

Speaking of Gliph, there are so many little pieces that add up to make this content really what it is. Gliph having a bow tie? Why not!

So, my favourite combat sequence was really the approach to the Normandy and then getting access to the CIC (with a little help from a tooth brush!) fighting in the CIC and Wrex enjoying it so much! The final sequence where you fight in the cargo bay was really cool, like flying out of the Citadel and the environment rocking from left to right, so freaking cool!

So then finally the party, so freaking enjoyable watching James and Jacob competing with pressups, discussing joker's lack of combat training and then there was EDI, Traynor and Tali. My freaking goodness that was hilarious. Who ever came up with that squence, never let go of that person because I (and I'm sure a lot of others) couldn't stop laughing.

Finally spent a little downtime with Ash, as far as a LI she was brilliant in this sequence. I was a bit miffed that when she went down for 1/2 of the main game but this more than made up for it.

This really was a fantastic farewell, and as close to post-game DLC we ever got. Which was slightly disappointing given the context of the content with regards to the main game. Nope, I didn't like the impersonal ending with implications that were really vague (did he survive the destroy ending!). This in my personal opinion should have been post ending content, but that being said this was probably the most enjoyable Mass Effect experience I have ever had.

Ashley "It's been one hell of a ride"
Shepard "It's sure has!"

So after finishing the content, I popped the disc out of my Xbox. This was a farewell to ME3 for me aswell, it really has been a super awesome ride that began years ago, blasting through the latter half of ME1 and being blown away, bringing me upto this point. A lot has changed in those years, I'm now at medical school so my time for games is dwindling.

In my mind, that sequence with Ash before boarding the Normandy was somber but it felt right, this had been one hell of a ride, happy to be a part of the community here and super thankful to the talented staff at BioWare for these experiences. This was my last experience with Mass Effect, a fantastic farewell! I'm leaving on the happy memory that (this is cheesy) but Ashley will be waiting for my Shepard!

We'll see what happens with the franchise next, but at least for now, I really am content with the series and it's conclusion. Thank you BioWare, for the awesome ride!

  • I found it to be a bit over the top. I loved all the jokes and the dialogue but I just felt like it was too forced. Too much talking at a point when they're fighting. It really broke the immersion for me. It was like going straight from Saving Private Ryan to The Expendables 2. Its like something i would expect from a fanfic. There was enough dialogue for 2 or maybe even 3 missions. I also hate having to slow down my killing just so everyone can get their lines in.
  • I loved the part with the Citadel council history. I  would ask for more but i'm sure ME 4 will expand on this.
  • Many of the areas seemed to be glitched. I have a computer setup that runs Crysis 3 on Very High as smooth as butter on 1080p but parts of the Citadel DLC would stutter suddenly when i looked in certain directions.
  • I would have preferred DLC that added to the depth and immersion of the Priority:Earth missions. When we had 2 groups running around (pretend) shooting at enemies?  I  wanted that for Priority:Earth. When we got on the wards after winning our ship back and there were DOZENS of NPCs around?  I wanted that for Priority:Earth. All of this could be done without changing the layout, dialogue or storyline 1 single bit. Bonus points if we could save/help people along the way.
  • I was pretty sad that the main character was just clone shepard and that his goal was to steal the Normandy and assume his identity. It seems to have no rhyme or reason whatsoever except to be cannon fodder. What actual motivation could clone Shepard even have for doing all that and supposedly helping humanity, when we're already at the 11th hr of a galactic E.L.E. Seemed a bit contrived.
  • Everything after the Citadel DLC mission is awesome. I love the party and the arena. There's an incredible amount of depth to this whole thing. From all the background dialogue about the Multiplayer, to the 1 on 1's with your crew, to how the arena fills up after you start winning.

The fun, wacky plot really made me long for a Mass Effect saturday morning cartoon.

It's evident that a lot of work went into this DLC, it felt a bit like a love letter to me, as a fan of the franchise. I appreciated the references, jokes, the smug Citadel citizens speaking like they just got out of a multiplayer game, interacting with old friends. It was all beautifully handled. To everyone who had a part in it and still reads here, or had any part in the creation of Mass Effect at all in the past few years... thank you. It's been memorable, and a genuine priveledge.

transfer whoever worked on citadel over to Bioware Montreal.

I don't even consider myself that "in to" mass effect anymore, and I've played this for like 7 hours today, and I have a splitting headache from laughing my guts out at it. At Javik's remarks of a rebelling drone, to Grunt playing the doorman, I even Lol'd at Tali's singalong because it was just utterly unexpected

Ending was kind of sad though, since you're foreshadowing the ending of ME3 proper, plus the DLC was essentially a farewell,

I've now lost count of how many times people were teased into thinking they'd see Tali's face *rendered, not the lolphoto*, should have known better

So... the "ME3 was so DEEP cuz it was DARK like REAL war, man" brigade were craving some self-parody all along. I guess that was the only avenue left for BW to write anything pleasing to the audience, but it has a touch of a "last refuge of the scoundrel" about it, especially at $15.

Still, I would have bought it and possibly enjoyed it, had the gesture not been such an empty one. It practically screams "Hey, don't take this story so seriously... we sure don't!" Which is as huge a cop out as anything I've seen in video games, coming from the "artistic visionaries" of BioWare.

I know they can do funny. It's just that I don't feel like laughing it off. Mass Effect used to be bigger than that.

The positives:
New locations looked lovely.

Lots of self-referential humour, Easter eggs, cameos, and just otherwise great/sharp/funny dialogue.

Jack's romance was really nicely done - there was that little bit of her softer side coming through. It didn't turn into a sappy mush-fest, which makes sense as even when she makes herself vulnerable she tends to just try to hide it shortly after, but it was really nice to see some more feelings from her rather than just "I need dick".

Getting to use Wrex as a squadmate.

The in-combat banter/dialogue. One of the best things about ME1 and ME2 was the way squadmates had call outs and stuff when they'd get a kill, get hurt etc. It was noticeably absent from ME3's main game, but hearing it in this DLC (and to a lesser extent in Omega) showed how much more the combat can grab you when you feel more a part of it. I hope for the next ME game they put that stuff back in there.

The negatives:
Still felt like Jack's content was shorter than some of the other characters' (e.g., Vega or Miranda), but I'm a huge Jack fan so as far as I'm concerned if it's not all Jack all the time it's not enough Jack, so I'm probably biased.

Was kinda hoping you could have the ME2 characters are temporary squadmates too.

Sometimes it's felt too over-the-top/silly/cheesey. It was an awesome send off for the series, but its placement in the game actually kind of made it feel like a big deviation from the tone of the rest of the story. I think it actually would have been far better as a post-ending DLC, but of course then that would have involved having to change the ending etc. which was never going to happen. What I mean basically is that all the partying, funny lines etc. just feels kind of awkwardly spliced into the middle of an otherwise very serious game, whereas if it was happening post-Reaper defeat it'd feel more appropriate.

The music wasn't quite as epic as I was expecting. It was nice, but I actually think the main game music is better.

This was....actually all I ever wanted for a ME3 ending (ONE of them at least, to be more precise). It was really awesome.Great.Hilarious. You guys outdid yourselves [would it have been that difficult to have this after the Destroy ending with a surviving Shep? :P].

Played this on an anti-Cerberus playthrough (meaning SR2 Cerberus crew + Miranda & Jacob were dead). And Zaeed was also dead (so I couldn't see Zaeed's last performance, sadly, but I do still have other playthroughs ;) ).
Shep romanced Tali on this playthrough.

What can I say? Loved the interactions, loved the N7 soldiers on the Wards discussing about Drell doing random karate moves, loved the arena, loved pretty much everything.

My only qualms would be perhaps that we didn't meet our favorite green Asari (Shiala) and Parasini. (or maybe they showed up in connection to some of the characters I didn't have in this playthrough? Guess I'll find out with my next Shep). Sha'ira did show up, was really happy about that.
Also, we should have been able to move up those blinds :D And maybe invite our LI over as many times as we want. But ah well, no big deal!! Was really really satisfying!!

Hope you guys had (or will have) a similar party to celebrate your journey ;)

P.S.: Oh, and Brooks? Yeah, figured she wasn't really Alliance pretty much from the beginning...what sealed it was her saying not to contact Bailey. And Khan being dead when we arrived. Still, that story wasn't bad. And it really made clear what Commander Shepard has and his clone doesn't: the best friends in the Galaxy!

I love you BioWare. That is all I can say about this dlc.

I started playing it at 6pm after the download finished and didn't stop until 4am. Just couldn't bring myself to stop, wanted to get all the achievements and I got distracted by the claw machine for ages :P

The story was great, references were funny, banter was hilarious.....oh I haven't laughed so much in a while and I really needed that at the moment :D

Minigames

I'm going to play it again later with a different Shepard.

Keep up this kind of thing BioWare. By that I mean, this kind of content in the dlc. A nice mixture of action and story. And of course, a bit of extra romance content is always welcome in dlc's :P

Thank you for making the final ME3 DLC the best in the series <3

Got to admit, some parts were quite cheesy, but even Tali herself talks about cheese in the party, so the writers were obviously in on that. ;)

The story was nice, but some parts were kind of "unexpected". :P

And yeah, since I like lighthearted stuff, I enjoyed the party (must go to Horizon and do Miranda's stuff to get her there too, she was the only one missing) and want to see all changes from interracting with Glyph while the party's on. :)

I knew that Tali would "troll" us and not show 3D face, but I didn't expect at all what she did while watching "Fleet and Flotilla", a very nice (and cute) touch. :D

All in all, I really enjoyed the DLC and indeed with some changes, it would have been the best ME3 ending. Still, as goodbyes go, I liked it a lot. :)

This DLC is certainly not what I expected for certain but that is not a bad thing.

This has to be the most entertaining DLC i`ve ever played.

The story was a lot of fun and the dialogue and especially the delivery was hilarious.
I found the whole Volus pizza delivery boy especially amusing.
Javik`s remark over a rebelling drone had me rolling.
Shepard more worried about how he sounds when saying ¨I should go¨ then being locked in a vault for eternity was funny.
I also liked EDI`s drones attacking the merc in the cockpit of the Normandy at the end.

The Evil clone thing was great imo, it reminded me of the old sixties Star Trek series where Kirk also had to face off with an evil double bent on taking over the Enterprise. Not sure if that was Bioware`s intention to pay homage to the old sixties sci fi`s but it it was, it was done very well indeed.

Just having Wrex crashing through a window coming to the rescue then having him as a squad mate is simply one of the highlights of the dlc.

This DLC had one imortant element for me, it featured all of my squad from all 3 games and had them all letting their hair down and having fun for a change and I was having fun right along side them.

This was a great send off and in a strange way, I got the happy ending I always wanted.

Thanks Bioware for giving me a great time with my squad.

Best DLC from Bioware to date.
A great time no alcohole requierd.

I loved the interaction with the crew, the additional romance scenes and...the party was hilarious. However it felt out of place, I felt guilty about throwing a party mid-war...you know, worlds are burning as Shepard gets hammered =/ And the 'plot' of the Citadel mission was...again, anti-climatic and cliche IMO. But overall, I enjoyed it as a final goodbye to Shep and the Crew...sad that I will now be retiring my ME CDs.

Amazingly well done. Loved every minute of it, especially the bits with Tali, Garrus and Wrex. And Zaeed. The only sour note remains that the endings are crap and thus it cheapens the whole experience, but extended Destroy leaves enough head-canon to live through that.

One of the most funny features which is not related to Shepard, the crew or the Normandy is  the random dialogue you get later on from operatives from the multiplayer who hang around on the new area of the Citadel and snark about the new-fangled weird new classes running around during their missions. Or complain about Vanguards charging everywhere and stuff. ^^

This DLC has restored a megaton of goodwill from me towards BioWare. We'll see if Dragon Age 3 keeps that trend up.

The best DLC that Bioware has ever released in my opinion. Might be one of the first DLCs that i feel actually was worth the cost completely. As the last DLC it did exactly what i wanted it to do. It gave some air to a weakened flame for the franchise and i'm going to keep on observing to see what is next in the ME franchise.

It was fantastic to see Wrex in some serious action again and hear his undeniable banter. The banter in the entire DLC from everyone is just top notch quality, the teasing between team Mako and team Hammerhead took me by suprise and made the entire chase so much more fun.
All the interactions with the crew is just out of this world perfect and i honestly had more time with this DLC than i've had with any other part of the trilogy.

The story with the clone took me by suprise and it was rather fun. Perhaps not the most amazing story ever but i didn't care that much just because everything surrounding it was outstanding and when i finally got to start up the party i had the best time ever. My Shep romanced Kaidan and it was good to see them in love and act like people that's just incapable of not being near each other. Was so sweet!

So all in all. Best. DLC. Ever.

I loved the cheezy, tongue-in-cheek, reaching-for-plotness of the story of citadel... you either get it or you don't - I get it. it was an omage to the entire trilogy in an 100th episode sort of way. The party is fantastic. My favorite moment was Wrex recounting the elevator conversations about who would win in a fight between BLANK and shepard when he quiped to Ashley "and now we will have our answer".

It was nice experiementing with different party combos and guest-lists to find different conversations. I had everybody alive but I was amazed at how much depth in hidden dialogue there was depending on who was present and the tempo and variations like card games, etc. There's so much crew dialogue, mini-games and easter eggs I have yet to explore that I feel this one was worth the money overall because this one had Blasto.

I wish the combat arena sessions were longer and i'm not a fan of the layouts per say but i'm sure i'll get my head around this stuff soon enough. Enjoying the arena though non-the-less.

The only cons for me were few and far between. I did insanity with a soldier and the opening level seemed like it would have been so much easier with other classes... only having 30 rounds with the supressor in the opening level with infinite spawn no medigel, cluster grenades and combat drones everywhere was a nightmare. I ran out of ammo x3 times... no ammo anywhere... had no points in melee so I had to grab almost everyone in the room multiple times just to get out of there alive... absolute madness!

My main disappointment was the lack of inclusion of some new bonus powers like Annihilation Field, etc but the inclusion of the Lancer and new weapon mods was very welcome and almost makes up for it. I'm suprised that you don't seem to be able to unlock stimulant packs as a bonus power which would have been awesome.

8/10

My true final post. (Positive Review :P)

I loved it. Considering how long it took (slow connection), it was definitely worth it. This DLC to me fits the definition of DLC, which is Extra Content. It doesn't feel like it should've been included from the start like...well...all the others. Since I'm not too cynical, I'm going to say that I loved the plot. I've always wanted to fight a mirror Shepard, as the blue stripe was nice (my original idea was a dimension crossover, and evil Shep has blue stripe.). Also, the other stuff was funny as hell. I still have stuff to see, but Blasto was a awesome surprise. There is one major negative though, and that is there are a few missed opportunities. Namely in the archives. The ones I speak of are Sovereign, and the Keepers. Would've been cool if there was additional info we didn't know. Lair of the Shadow Broker was easily the best DLC of Mass Effect in general...but I think this one might just beat it. Easily a 9.75/10. Bioware...if you were a physical being, I'd buy you a drink...if I were 21...

You guys definitely ended Mass Effect 3 with a bang for me. This DLC is highly recommended for anyone who loves the characters.
