Watched a playthrough and the characters are (Other then clone-shep) awesome. Love how they act and interact, love how Wrex shows up and flattens everything in his path, love the apartment Shep gets (It's not the Freedom Station one, but I'll admit it's nicer) and the maps are big, the scenery great. Unfortunately the plot sucks, clone-shep is a joke, the whole 'break into the dude's office' bit was a convoluted and expanded version of the Kasumi Mission from ME2, and the silenced pistol is junk. It's not silenced and there's no real stealth mechanic. Moment the person playing fired they got swarmed.

Overall i loved it, although i am not a fan of clone-plots. The party-segment was just fantastic fan-service, the only thing it missed was a moment where they remembered those who died along the way

I have to say I really enjoyed the entire DLC, although I haven't tried the Arena yet. I loved all the character interactions at the party and all the extra dialogue with past and present team mates. I might have to see if I can start this DLC before going to Techunka and see if Mordin gets involved, otherwise the data pad will have to do.

I don't think you can play this before Tuchanka. It opens up after the Cerberus coup attempt (Citadel II), which itself only unlocks after Tuchanka has been completed.

Actually this seeming break from story can be avoided where Shepard is seen partying while worlds are dying. Chronologically they should have set this after the reaper war ie the true conclusion of the destroy ending. Then Shepard can take a shore leave and party as the threat is over. Also it can show with the emphasis with squad mates could show Shepard cares about the relationship built over 3 games as well as the player. An interesting twist, it could have shown that the trilogy doesn't have to end epic but instead heartfelt and close knitted conclusion as citadel is. The photo shot session should have been the closing of the series with the group shot pan out to show it is in fact an item in the captain cabin or apartment as we took a tour of Normandy of the last time with squad member
And finally the Normandy blast off into space. In fact that would have been much more satisfying and even resolve the original and extended ending. It was really a misstep and truly a pity as without the indoctrination theory, this should have been the next best thing

Loved it. So much. It was fun, funny, touching, just...excellent. My pseudo-review in jumbled note form follows:

The main story, I'll admit first off, could have been better, but I also feel like it was just a skeleton upon which to hang all the awesome characters, so yeah... That said, Brooks was interesting enough (also, until the reveal I kept wondering if her sketchy North American accent was intentional or not...pretty sure it was now), and the CloneShep plot almost made me roll my eyes at first, but after the fight on the Normandy he almost broke my heart so...

Liara was annoyingly ubiquitous as usual. I was incredibly irritated that she popped up after the sushi place thing...I mean, I know now that was supposed the LI, and mine was Cortez and I know he's not exactly one of the ground troops but still, he could at least have been with her or something.

Either way, I loved all the squad mate dialogue. The hilarious back-and-forths, the in-jokes, the nostalgia...so good.

The party was perfect. Getting to see all the characters interact was great. (Incidentally, I'm now shipping Miranda and Jack...)

Cortez's romance scenes/dialogue/lines were just lovely. I was worried that ShepardxCortez would get shafted (or rather, that they wouldn't AMIRITE?!), but they were cute, romantic, and a touch naughty Image IPB...which is great.

Also, numerous times throughout the DLC, some of Mark Meer's voice acting, and even a lot  of Shepard's facial expressions just made me go "whoa...amazeballs" so kudos to all involved there.

And the end! I cried. I really wasn't expecting to, but I totes did. As everyone was heading back to the Normandy, Cortez and Shepard stop to talk about their shore leave. Cortez says that they've had good times and as he walks away Shepard quietly says "the best" while dat score plays in the background and suddenly I'm a mess. It was such a nice send-off, a brilliant end to the trilogy...wonderful

p.s. I realize this post is pretty...gushy...but I just finished playing the DLC and I loved it so...I'm keeping it Image IPB

I would like to thank you, guys!
This is a beautiful, moving and inspiring DLC. Wel worth it's money, in my opinion.

It's really sad to say our final goodbyes, knowing what awaits Shepard right around the corner... but that sense of closure, "underinteraction" that was missing before has finally disappeared for me.

One thing though...i'm playing as a Vanguard with 200% recharge bonus, so my "Clone-Shepard" was waaay too hard to beat. He was just teleporting to me and spamming biotics :) Had to turn down the difficulty even...
So i was wondering if it was a compliment, or on the contrary, lol :)

Great DLC. Great game. Incredible Universe.
Thank you!

I like it a lot, though it was really weird to see some of those jokes, they somehow seemed misplaced, specially when you don't see some of those characters doing jokes, like Liara. But I enjoyed it a lot, and I'm still enjoying it (gotta break some records at the casino!)
The moments that I could enjoy the jokes were pretty fun, as with Wrex at the bar and Grunt with the C-sec officer. I still gotta check all the other scenes, it seems I went to the dlc too soon and some of the other contents don't want to unlock, it doesn't matter how many times I go in and out of that area I don't get people to talk to me, but that is fine, I'll just run it all over again (I still want to see how other party members react to the action time at the first part of the DLC).
I was hoping there would be more content for Thane but at least something was finally made, the memorial could have used more lines but it was good, finally some feeling was shown. Felt bad for him while watching those videos and I think that was the point, so it is good as well.
Loved those messages from Mordin, just the kind only he would be able to say.
I really don't regret paying for it, and great work Bioware.

The story was decent but an overused cliche in science fiction (evil clone). The DLC was fun and had some good laughs. Overall, I'd rate it 6/10 but only because the DLC should have contained Harbinger. It's reduced role was tragic and I felt that it was a poor decision on the team's part.

10/10 if it would have contained Harbinger. 20/10 if it had war assets cinematics and the Mako. You see where I'm going with this? It was alright but it could have been much more.

The Citadel DLC reminded me of what Bioware is capable of. Then I finished it...and I had a sudden urge to continue playing through the Cerberus base and on to Priority: Earth. That desire quickly died when the difference in writing quality from the DLC to the vanilla game became evident...I just...sigh...Great DLC, horrible game ending.

TLDR (All Dialog/conversations/npcs great, humor a bit over the top-but bearable, Plot was interesting enough just lacking a minty fresh feeling---I'm almost certain I've already had a run in with a shepard clone before. Party was highly amusing---lacked a bit of important characters, I would have preferred Dr.C over to latest crew members any day. Pleased to see return of mini games, enjoyed nostalgic concepts being brought to life. Cannot express how enjoyable unshackled romance was. The ability to date a real live, living prothean, Incredible. Anticipating continuous re-plays to explore various outcomes.)
~~~~~~~
"We do not 'date' primitives. We enslaved them, we watched them. Sometimes we ATE them... But date them? No, Never. Except for the Asari. Oh the things liara does not know."
I was on a date with Javik! Among other things...
"There is apparently One thing primitives are good at!"
I was shocked at how awesome this dlc was for allowing me to have a bit more freedom.
The romance option/s were what I was really enjoying (Hooking up ash with that hulk for a good time was so amusing)
Honestly I was probably giggling more than ash. It doesn't help I started the party around 3-4am my time (irl)
The brooks character was powerfully over goofy, she was almost a turnoff from the dlc plot.
The clone shep reminded me of tachunka, me2, but I didn't mind.
I felt really bad for her, I tried to pick her up but she let go.
(It was like tali all over again... only it was me. ps loved the 'kill myself' humour "me stealing my ship" etc. Glyph getting confused. )
Oh I loved the humor though! Javik and derpy-eyed EDI were rocking my party majority of the time.
I was using a deafualt shep and enjoyed the hell out of what little I had, I can only imagine what it will be like on my second play through with more of the old characters there.
Little bit sad with the lack of mordin, the data pad was neat, but I really wanted him to be there.
I was sad that Doc.Cha wasn't there either. She was on the ship but she didn't come, one of the newer characters told me that Dr.C gave some booze but. I really would have liked to see her.
Watching the other characters mingle was great. I hope they continue to have characters in next M.e.game related interact. (in ME3 you can see them on com with one another, or gar and tali in the same room, or other chars some times too, but the party was all of them in one place, it was such a blast. It's just a shame you couldn't extend the invite to a special none-team related npc, like aria, or anderson... Having one outsider at least would have been humorous. )
I had the droid keep things loud, and then had things get louder.
"I haven't had any thing as good as this since the stasis pod"
I wish this wasn't the last Dlc, and I hope you consider adding some of this kind of content into the next me4 as things you can partake in on at least three occasions. IN previous games Shepard having an alone time every now and then with one spouse was nice, but getting the whole crew to take a breather feels much more refreshing. That should be in the main plot, so they can talk about the party happening later. Once you're done with the party dlc it doesn't really ever get mentioned ever again :c I would have liked edi to sas joker later about it in the cockpit. (not dancing with her wtf. made him dance.)
~~~~~
Great party Bioware, let's do it again some time.
In the mean time I have a lot more playthroughs to keep on trying out how that party will go.
Loved it so much. Love you so much.

I have to say, I really loved the DLC. I'm not sure if I've actually completed it--I did the party, but there seems to still be more stuff to do. Maybe I will go fight in the arena until I can afford every weapon and mod I can buy, for instance, so if I ever do another playthrough I'll be prepared.

But, I do have a minor gripe about the Garrus romance in the DLC. ME3 in general was a great improvement on it, making it a lot less about just sex. But the Citadel DLC does a turnaround and it seems to me that sex is all Garrus wants from Shepard. Yeah, sure, it's nice to know he thinks she's hot, but it seemed like that "you're hot," summarizes most of his romantic dialogue. I'd have liked to see him being more of the supportive, caring partner he was in the rest of the game, though it was nice to see him being comfortable with the idea of being with Shepard. He seemed very proud to be Shepard's boyfriend, which was kind of cute. His party aftermath dialogue was a little... strange. At least, it came off that way to me. It's not that I don't get it, it's just... who would say it that way?

Aside from the treatment of the Garrus romance as "mostly about sex," though, I was one of the people who felt like this seemed more like a post-ending celebration, or like it SHOULD be, instead of something in the middle of the game. Yes, Shepard needs downtime and the Normandy needs repairs, but endgame Shepard looks so haggard and exhausted, I can't imagine she's actually had time to relax on a shore leave. She's aged a decade in the six months since ME2, even at the start of the game. On the one hand, a big celebration because you might never get the chance again, does make sense. On the other, isn't Shepard too busy for celebration?

Would have loved it so much more if it had been a victory party. Or a "Hey, Shepard is alive and out of the hospital" party.

I loved this DLC. I head-cannoned that this is post ending DLC. When my Shepard is running back to the Normandy and the screen faded to black at the end, I simply just shut my xbox off. Because that's how I wanted to end the 6 years of a great journey.
And I don't really have a problem with the ending either.

This is a great DLC, it does have alot of pros to it along with a few cons but nothing that substantially subtracts from the game.
Pros:
-Squadmate chatting, lots of conversions back and forth, a good bit of it made me actually laugh out loud and cry
-Personal time with each character, they all had something to say or do such as Vegas pull ups (I did all of them)
-Wrex, Kasumi, Grunt and Zaeed as squadmates again!
-Apartment was a nice touch although a few more customization options would be nice
-Arena is Sweet as all hell
-Volus Pizza guy lol
-The clone Shep was a Kick @## twist, fun fighting her, actually was a challenge

Cons:(granted some of these are nit-picky)
-Possibly a few character skins or custom armor for shep
-More of the apartment is usable (this one is REALLY nit-picky)
-Brooks could not be recruited, i wish i had her, she is so much better than Ashley
-The clone could not be saved (I play as a 97% Renegade, i still wish i could have saved her, would have made for one hell of a powerful teammate)
-Possibly more time with you LI in the Apt

Overall a very good DLC. Just wish this wasn't the end, its an emotional train ride. I just might make this the "End" for my playthough since the original ending still makes me go cry in the corner for a while.

Thanks for Citadel, BioWare. For the most part, you listened to us. And hey, if you don't listen people complain. If you DO listen, it's fanservice. There's no way to win :P

Main plot: 5/10.
Might as well get the bad stuff out of the way, and this is...bad. Not even funny-bad. More like "Plot--where?! Throw spaghetti at the wall! Cerberus! Clones!" Shep made plenty of enemies back in ME1 and ME2, and there was no need to dig into Project Lazarus for some clone storyline. That being said, there are some good comedy moments, and some genuinely interesting stuff in the Citadel archives for those interested in lore.

Level design and gameplay: 8/10. People complain about ME3's focus on mechanics at the expense of RP, and it's a valid complaint--but in my experience good gameplay is never a con. There are a lot of cool setpieces and environments in which to fight, particularly the archives, but most of the bad guys are just recolored Cerberus with similar mechanics. One exception: the final boss fight against clone Shepard. This was f***ing brilliant. It turns all gameplay expectations inside out when your enemy uses your own strengths against you. I was playing an infiltrator Shepard--facing off against a clone who could cloak and snipe as often as I could was no walk in the park.

Polish: 7/10. I ran into some weird graphical glitches in the beginning section of the main quest while Shep is in the tunnels outside the wards. I also ran into some problems when retaking the Normandy through that tiny little duct. Ambient conversation would occasionally trigger after I'd already walked a few feet away. Nothing gamebreaking, though, and far better than Omega.

Roleplaying: 5/10. I still don't like autodialogue as implemented in ME3. But at least it's a significant improvement over the base game; I don't recall ever saying anything that flagrantly violated my Shep's personality and roleplaying.

Apartment: 6/10. Customization options are meh, and it's not always easy to navigate. But this place is very pretty, and surprisingly expansive. Anderson's audio recordings tug at the heartstrings. I'm mostly just mad that I can't use my swanky suit as a casual outfit

Silversun Strip: 7/10. There are few simplistic casino and arcade games that offer credits or apartment customizations as rewards, and some ambient dialogue lampshading multiplayer tropes. Lightweight, silly stuff. But again, the Strip is surprisingly large, and all the little pieces add up to a nice feeling of life and vibrancy.

Arena: TBD. I honestly haven't tried this out as much since I was more interested in the conversations. From what I've seen so far, it's a simpler and more compact version of MP, in the SP campaign. You get points for defeating enemies, completing bonus objectives, and beating the timer. Those points get you reward trophies, which can be used to unlock new maps, difficulty settings, enemies, and most importantly squaddies. You can unlock almost any squaddie from ME2 or ME3 here: exceptions are Thane, Legion, Morinth, and Mordin. I'm not sure it's GOOD, but it certainly is fun.

Squaddie Interactions: 9.5/10. This is the reason for Citadel.  You get mostly the same amount of dialogue regardless of friendship or romance, just different dialogue You play catch with Jack's biotic varren, rescue Grunt for arrest, get Garrus a date, take a night on the town with Miranda, etc. Each surviving character in my game had at least one, sometimes two scenes. I docked a bit for missing the opportunity to fix Thane and Jacob's romances, and TBH that might not even have been an option on the table.

Value and Replayability: 9/10. I logged about 7 hours on this DLC, which TBH is a lot for $15. A lot of that involved reloading conversations to try out all the options because I'm insatiably curious. So if you don't do that, this DLC will in 1 playthrough clock in at around 4-5 hours. However, with so many iterations of the conversations and squad compositions, it's probably closer to 15-ish hours of raw content, which players will only see upon replaying with a different Shep, or different companions.

Overall: 8.5/10. This is IMO the ending that ME3 deserved to begin with. BioWare flubbed that on release, hastily patched it with the EC, then took the time to produce this. The character writing is for the most part top-notch, and there's a lot of heart in this. I almost get the impression it was intended as post-ending. It feels less like something that should happen in the middle of the game and more like an epilogue, a last hurrah. Other than a few lines of dialogue, there's no reason why this DLC couldn't be headcanoned as post-game. Or you could play it just before Cronos Station and headcanon the rest of the game, end on a high note.

Garrus kept me invested in Mass Effect after the disappointing original release of ME3. MEHEM and EC rescued ME3 from the scrappy heap. Citadel reminded me WHY I love these games: the characters. I love these guys, and spending more time with them is an emotionally satisfying sendoff for the series. Think Lost finale: it dropped the ball on plot, but it gave us an overall warm and fuzzy farewell, and maybe that's good enough.

Overall, a fun DLC with an entertaining mission and character interaction. The Blasto bit with Javik was... painful, but the rest was fun and generally well done. In particular, the party was amusing with the way it started out so awkwardly and ended up with drunken biotics levitating people and krogan hiding in showers. I enjoyed having an opportunity to interact with the squad and got a kick out of the self-referential humour ("I should go", etc.). I've even enjoyed the minigames and the combat arena (much better than Pinnacle Station which made me turn off dialogue sound among other things). Also, bonus points for the amusement of watching my squad teams charge around like the Scooby Doo crew. :)

That said, I noticed with ME3 in particular there has been a tendency to force the player to sit back and watch with certain combat-related cutscenes because you have a sequence of events you want to show us (Kai Leng), and that trend was unfortunately continued to an extent in Citadel. For example:
  • I killed Brooks at least twice - she was quick and easy compared to the clone's heavy armour - *after* the clone was out of medigel, and the **** kept getting back up and then she was just waltzing around during the final cutscene as if she hadn't been injured. A "gasping for breath" scene as with Benezia is fine, but the way Brooks was handled was frustrating. If she's crumpled in a heap on the floor after taking 20 rounds, she should stay that way! I'd rather have her stealth like Kasumi instead of dying and resurrecting herself.
  • Tackling the clone off the edge of the ship made no sense. I'm a biotic, and I have a gun, why am I charging someone near a cliff edge? Shepard's a trained soldier with loads of combat experience, and that scene was too obviously done for the sake of needless drama (we know Shepard isn't going to die there). It would've been better to have a "final shot" that staggers the clone back so the clone slides over the edge and then have that same conversation with Shepard standing over the clone, rather than the both of them clinging to the edge.
My suggestion for future games: figure out a way to get the outcome you want without making us sit and watch our characters make poor decisions without any player control, and don't let NPCs have "god mode".

Oh, one last thing: way too many shields! Most abilities become useless in the face of shields and it was a little offputting to have to stack overload/energy drain for all the missions (the initial solo bit was particularly painful even with energy drain). The story part of the missions was fun, but combat got tedious because my abilities were largely worthless until the shields were down. I'd honestly rather have larger health pools instead of widespread shields/armour - I liked the vanilla game where only the mid-tier mobs had shields, instead of *all* of them. I know biotics were a bit overpowered in vanilla, but all those shields almost felt like a punishment. :)

Criticism aside, I consider this a great send-off for Shepard; the only thing better would be riding into the sunset with his/her paramour, but I suppose I can make do with the "breath scene" and post-game fan creations. ;)

I loved it. This DLC reminded me of the subtle detail and humor from the first game. And in context to the story, it provided well timed break. I thought the story of the clone to be a bit unbelievable, however the rest of the content of the DLC made up for it. If I had 3 hands, I'd give 3 thumbs up.

I'll just start by saying that I was absolutely flabbergasted by this DLC; the whole team really went above and beyond. Amazing banter, well-scripted dialogue, new scenes with all living squadmates--past and present--and even sendoffs to Thane and Mordin. I spent half this DLC crying my eyes out and the other half laughing hysterically. Being a Garrus romancer, I was immediately pulled into it when Garrus (or whoever your romance interest is, respectfully) comes to your rescue while you're fighting for your life with just a pistol, no medi-gel, and while wearing a dress (in my case). I was so distracted when I heard him come over the comm and be all worried for me that I actually died because I was paying too much attention to the dialogue and not enough to the guy flanking me. xD And on the topic of Garrus romance, I just want to hug whoever wrote/designed the Garrus/femshep dancing date in the Casino.

I played it through on Insanity since that's all I've played ME3 on since after my first playthrough on normal, and I appreciated the increase in difficulty, specifically right at the beginning when you just have your pistol and no medigel and at the end during the clone battle. For someone who reads a great deal of Mass Effect fan fiction, the idea of Cerberus having a clone of Shepard is a common theme, and I was happy to see it used as an actual DLC storyline. The dialogue and overall feel for this DLC also felt much like many of the fanfics I've read--very up-close and personal with all the characters rather than all business.

As far as amount of content, anyone that's complaining that there wasn't enough included in the DLC needs to actually open their eyes while they're playing it. The amount of banter and ambient dialogue is staggering, the clone storyline is great, and just when it feels like the DLC is coming to a close, you realize you still have the other half of it to go, with arcade and casino games, 1-2 new cutscenes with every squadmate--past and present, the arena (which is awesome, by the way, since you can play it endlessly to make 10,000 credits per match), and the party--OH, the party. I can't say enough good things about it. The DLC as a whole was amazing, but the party felt like such a wonderful send-off for all the characters--best $15 and approximately nine hours I could have asked to spend on Mass Effect DLC. This was the DLC this game *deserved* to end with. As I saw someone else say on youtube, Bioware, all is forgiven, take my money for all the feels.

Well you guys certainly gave those who wanted extended romance scenes and more interaction with the crew new and old. I tip my hat to you. Though the clone story is cliche as hell, but at this point any story is better than the garbage you made in the main game and leviathan. And for once you actually add enough content to warrant the 15 dollar price tag unlike Omega, good for you for putting quality AND quantity in this DLC. But alas its not what I was looking for to draw me back into Mass Effect. Playing this DLC will only make me even more disappointed that I am about to screw over the people who I party with no matter what I do at the end.

I will never like the clone story. I honestly feel it cheapens the trilogy and opens an entirely new can of issues that will never be resolved, and I can't help but dwell on them.

But holy hell, the fan service in this DLC is GLORIOUS GLORIOUS GLORIOUS!

I do not have enough thank yous for the moments of joy I felt watching these characters interact.

THANK YOU.
