I liked it a lot. I appreciate the added challenge. The new shield enemies got me good a bunch of times. I tend to hold back even on Insanity, limiting character upgrades and using weaker/less accurate weapons, yet I found myself having to fully upgrade squad powers to get through the final Normandy battle. Overall, this is content I am glad to have been able to experience. You guys gave plenty of attention to the details, too, and that really showed in all of the dialogue and in the squad photo at the end with Shepard + LI. It's much appreciated.

Having said that, I can't help feeling that this was a bit of a missed opportunity to have the entire team work on something serious, which I definitely prefer to the more comedic approach they took with this DLC. Still great, though, and a nice change of pace. I understand why they wanted to do it this way. Up to this point almost everything has been serious (or unintentionally funny :P ).

Zaeed was well represented. His dialogue with Garrus had me grinning from ear to ear. R.I.P. Robin Sachs.

Looking forward to playing Arena mode. I can see myself putting a lot of time into it.

Kinda awkward i always loved how Wrex and Grunt said Shepard and i was very surprised when i heard them doing just that over and over again at the party, if this was a wanted detail, this is just great!

100/10

Wrex was awesome, heck, the entire thing was awesome. The battles were a real challenge, they actually made me think and come at the things differently.

I'm going to be playing through this for a while.

PRO:
I for one am enjoying this DLC immensly. It's just so much fun and the feel-good vibes are an unexpectedly welcome contrast to the gloominess of most of ME3. And so much content too, I haven't even gotten to the party yet. It is a really touching goodbye to the trilogy.

CON (sort of):
With ME3 going down the way it did, I had written off the ME franchise with far more bitterness than one should feel for a video game. After playing this DLC I have written off the franchise in a weirdly happy way!

For me ME1 was my definition of what the ME universe was, and I really hated the move away from hard sci-fi to cheesy action and the constant breaking of lore (that started with ME2).

When I found out the villain was an evil clone I was gutted (in traditional ME3 fashion) but when I saw the DLC it quickly became apparent that the content was not really meant to be a cannon, just one last hurrah in the name of fun and sentimentality. I've gotten on board with the spirit of the thing and I've enjoyed the crap out of it as a result, and ME has ended on a high.

But getting on board also meant dropping any expectations of credibility from the MEverse. And with this DLC the much beloved characters are tucked away for good too. So really there's nothing left for a new ME game to offer.

But really thanks for this last DLC Bioware, I can't tell you how cathartic it's been to end the series on such a high.

I have played the DLC once now and I have absolutely no intention of playing it again for any of my Shepards. Hell, there were numerous occasions where I thought to myself: "If I uninstall it right now, I wonder if I can ask for my money back?!" I'm not joking. Did BioWare fire all of their writers prior to this release? The writing on this was so hackneyed, it made me cringe. I could go into detail but that would just prompt an onslaught of TLDRs, so here's the short version:

The Citadel DLC was like the final episode of a sitcom that was past its due date: throwing around catch-phrases in an effort to remind us of what endeared us to the characters in the first place. But by doing so, it reduced them to those catch-phrases, effectively undermining the characters that had been so carefully crafted over the past several years.

I wish I hadn't played this. I wish the final DLC for the Trilogy would have actually tied in with the main story. I wish I could right-click on "Citadel DLC", hit "Uninstall" and click a check-box marked "remove associated memories". But I can't.

I'm stuck with it, just like the memories.

Okay, Here are my few thoughts:
While i spent good few hours reinstalling whole WINDOWS, and then consequent;ly Mass Effect base and all DLC's  [i'm not using windows on day-to-day basis, just so you know] to check out the DLC [at the time of doing that my last DLC was the Leviathan] i asked myself "is that dlc worth the effort?" -the short  answer is YES.
The Long answer is:
1. Let's enumerate the few mistakes first so all the good stuff can follow;
A. i've noticed that after completing the DLC ALL of my Shep's stats just RESET to level one[!] if i'd play onwards i would NOT be happy about that. As this was probably my last launch of ME3 ever i just parked Shepard right before the wall with the big Party Picture, said final good-bye and shut the game down.
B. The achievements unlocked -even tho visible in-game [after loading a save] but online syncup is completely oblivious to the fact-everything shows as "Locked" even thou it is clearly NOT locked-i assume the reason for that is the same weird thing that caused the fault in point A-again if i were to play onwards post DLC-that would've been a serious problem.
Now as we are past the bad stuff, time for the GOOD stuff:
A. Overall impression compared to Omega DLC:
- i did play the Citadel DLC just after playing trough Omega. Omega [excluding all point-and-shoot] action was pretty short to me. in terms of involvement and content and that was part of the reason why i did not like Omega DLC much, so i'll admit it i've been a bitt skeptical [but only a tiny bit] that the Citadel may share the same fate, As soon as the DLC [Citadel] began i could FEEL straight away that the story will be big, emotional and deep. VERY GOOD BioWare.
B. Combat/Non-Combat Balance
-While playing the Omega DLC i strongly felt the ratio was tilted towards combat. With Citadel-i rarely say so but PERFECT BALANCE First Combat Action -nothing too fancy, nice and easy, then a little breather, buildup of the tension and the Final Showdown-after that gradual tension release, and the party, i was EXTREMELY glad that the part after defeating the evil clone was not cut short. Honest again-i was fearing it would be just a short cameo  -i cannot fully express how glad i am that it wasn’t, but was instead a fully developed storyline.
+!
C CITADEL STORYLINE-HIGHLIGHTS:
The idea to  make the “mirror Shepard” main antagonist was AWESOME -much better than if some previously unknown “last-minute-mastermind” were to be introduced.
The Story is nicely woven trough ENTIRE DLC not just “segmented” story-shoot-story-shoot-story-boss-much shooting-END [like Omega was for me], the way the story continues AFTER the excitement and the threat are over- the ability to talk with characters separately not just “bunching up” everyone together straight after combat to say good bye, the dialogues are meaningful and suiting the characters, [for example Garruss comment’s  about being paid and so on].
The party [ i did invite the whole crew but not the strangers [“can i try this….No!”]]
I just CANNOT describe this DLC and be happy about the description because i know, that no matter how many pixels i’ll use to write those words it will not be enough.
Again +!
D. THE PLACE:
The Apartment - I LOVE THE PLACE!!  [i want one! :O] HUUUGE- newly introduced  ward-a place You want to come to to have fun very good choice of ambience,[lights, color etc. among other things]  each place You can go to has it’s own style [i know this post is getting VERY LONG, so i’m taking great shortcuts here]-BIG YES!!!!!
E OVERALL SUMMARY AND CONCLUSIONS:
-again i LOVED the personal moments with the characters either “going out’s” or “invites” [Liara invite was so emotional]-. just a LITTLE too short in my opinion but not influencing the DLC in any negative way in that respect
Soundtrack-as usual-Top score
The Arcade Arena -BIG fun until my Shepard suddenly 0-ed [see point A of BAD stuff]
The finishing touches -also perfect [i’m referring to the big picture on the wall, and the after party awakening ,]
At the very end the music changes-You just FEEL it’s the ultimate END FIN,ENDE….  It  just made me very sad,
once again +++++++!!!!!
One sentence finish from me THE BEST MASS EFFECT TRILOGY DLC I’VE EVER PLAYED. [While Shadow Broker DLC having 2nd place close to my heart]

P.S.
One last sour note for the very end to BioWare and whoever reads this:

WHY BioWare did not use the same approach as they used to this DLC to the ENDING of the game -if they did the game [ME3] would be rated by me and probably many others 20/10!!!! And the WHOLE TRILOGY would most likely become an icon of BEST-OF-THE-BEST of it’s kind for ever. As everyone knows BW obviously did  NOT used the same approach  to the game ending [ i know the DLC did not exist by then but You get my point], The Ending EVEN AFTER THE EXTENDED CUT does not keep the level of excellence of the rest of the series INCLUDING Mass Effect 3 itself…..
Now….truly concluding my “micro-essay” i challenge You reader to just for a moment close your eyes and IMAGINE what would whole series look like if The Citadel DLC “happened” actually IN the main game-if we’d get “Evil Shepard” instead of starbrat.......
just imagine.......

EDIT: now bundled with a pool:http://social.biowar...11/polls/44114/

Thank You Very much for reading this post

I laughed, I cried, I spent about 5 or so hours interacting with my squadmates over the years, and that didn't even include the gameplay portions. I explored nearly every single possible dialogue choice and combination I could muster, and realized that I don't think a game has done any sort of DLC like this before. It just has too many unique things that one couldn't even start to list off everything awesome with it.

Kudos to BioWare for putting together the ultimate fan service package for us fans in this Citadel pack. Definitely worth my 15 dollars.

I truly can't think of a real negative to this aside from, maybe, a lack of moral choices or interrupts. But still, this wasn't about that, it was about the real goodbye we all deserved to get from these guys in the first place.

It sucks we had to wait a year – and paid DLC – to get this, but ultimately it made me very happy and I really love it.

I think of all the Mass Effect DLC to have been released this one is the best in my opinion. It shows that the developers went to lengths to include as much as they can from small inside jokes that go back to ME1 up to things like the combat simulator to give the DLC even more replay value than most DLC ever hope to get. For that reason alone hats off to everyone that worked on it.

I don't have many complaints and they're not really that big of a deal so I'll get them out of the way. I was hoping that it might add a bit of extra dialogue outside the DLC as well. Cerberus built a clone of Shepard. You'd think that he would reflect on this when looking at the console in the Cerberus base that discusses his being rebuilt. Kinda like how Leviathan affected the discussion with the Catalyst. I also found myself wanting even more Wrex than before. It was cool having him back on the team, but I didn't realize how much I missed him on my team until I had him back for such a short period of time. I was hoping learn a bit more about the keepers as well. I figured we'd be running through some keeper tunnels or something.

The pros I thought were way more abundant. The combat simulator gives me more reason to keep coming back to the DLC. The new areas on the Citadel are fun to explore and the new character interactions are cool. I loved that the entire squad joined with on the mission. It made me wonder why that wasn't done before. I mean. Every other mission Shepard says "You two... Come with me. The rest of you... We're gonna go save the world again. Wait here until we're done. I should go." It made the whole team seem even more connected and working together. And the interactions between them was completely enjoyable to listen to.  This was probably my favorite thing about the game and I'm inclined to encourage you guys add things like that in future ME titles.

I also praise the clone story arc as well. The final fight was fun, and holy crap was the game tough on insanity. I kinda get where you guys were coming from with the clone thing. In literature often the hero's greatest challenge is the fight against himself. I liked how you guys applied the idea.

Perhaps I didn't articulate every last word perfectly, but I don't have the time to proof and rewrite what I've just written, so... I sure hope this makes sense. Anyway, overall I really enjoyed it.

I missed this and should have posted this here. Sorry about that! I'll delete my other. If it is possible.

Mass Effect 3: The Citadel. (Personal Opinion)

Firstly, I learned quickly not to take this DLC too seriously. Between finding out who the bad guys were, and the hilarious scenarios set up throughout the story line, you learn quickly, this is very humorous.

Let’s talk about the details.

Something had occurred to me a long time ago, and even more so in ME3. How the heck does Shepard take those falls without breaking, ya know, everything? I get that he/she is a hero – spent years in the best training, and now has all these cybernetic upgrades. Still… A few bullet wounds do far more damage than some of the falls Shepard takes.

The DLC is no different. That fall… was ridiculous. Shepard didn’t even get a scratch! She/he is not even in armor! Also, why are no fish flopping around?

More missed details. Shepard cannot use anything in her/his apartment! Aside from data pads, and music buttons. Along with the standard armor/arms utilities. No sitting, no hot tub (which that one was a major bummer).

Minor things… Shepard drying his/her hands on non-existent hand towel. I have no idea why that annoyed me, but it just seems those little details, if you are going to animate them, should have been added.

Shepard should have gotten at least ONE new outfit. Really? The same old stuff she fell through a fish tank floor? (Holds nose)

The Arena: I am not a fan of battling just to battle. I am very story driven, however. The Arena was a BLAST! Missed detail? No party banter. My squaddies being so quiet felt amiss. (Note, this is praise, with a missing element)

Now, now. That is the ONLY thing that I found missing in this DLC. Which I found to be the best BioWare has released, ever.
The companions were all near perfect in tone with their development. (These are all personal opinion)

Tali: (I have to admit though. Tali’s singing scene just creeped me out) Otherwise, she was good, and funny.

Thane: Lordy… I have him as a Li, and he was one of my favorites, if not ‘thee’ favorite. The memorial service nearly had me in tears, but then my Shepard went to view the vids let behind from Thane. And there you went and did it. I dropped a few tears. When Shepard started to tear, I needed a tissue. I am not even the sniffling type! Well done whoever wrote those lines, well done.

Garrus: I only have one Shepard that romanced Garrus. To be honest, he is my bestie, my bro, and his needle teeth freak me out a little. However, the tango scene, and Garrus’ lines throughout the DLC? Amazing!

Ashley: Well. She rarely lives in my games. No comment.

Liara… Eh. She has always been boring for me, so… at least her character is consistent. I am a bit tired of her mini backhanded jealously comments. It is just… weird.

Samantha: I really don’t get her… not even a little. Seems she was well in character, though.

James Vega: Swoons. BioWare. I still say. (Missed opportunity) Yum! He was perfect, otherwise.

Cortez: Also very much in character. I sorta like him. Sorta.

Samara: Another character I’ve never gotten attached too. She’s okay. I think she could have stood to cut loose a tad more.

Joker: Hehehehe. Always awesome. And that little find, meeting him at the bar? I giggled like crazy!

EDI: In character. I liked her better as a bodiless voice. The car buying scene was funny. The ring, though, was odd.

Jack: This one was a tough sell for me in ME2. Somehow, she grew on me, and I find I’d have liked to hang out with her more.

Grunt and Wrex: LOVED THEM! Grunts little near incarceration. Hilarious!

Javik: He is hard to warm up to, but at the party, I liked him a tad better. His one on one scene was, er, well… Let’s move on.

Miranda: I wanted to hate her so… much! Ironically, like Jack, she grew on me. Her bit in the DLC was also very well done.

Another little find - Kasumi Goto: I found her little heist to be dead-on and in character. Also, very amusing. I let her go on with her shenanigans. How could I not?

I may be missing someone? Those are the ones that stood out for me.

In conclusion.

Finding out who the bad guy/gal was? I laughed so hard. That was creative, and great way for some amazing dialogue throughout the chase. I’m softy, I tried to save the clone in the end. Too bad really, that would have been an interesting twist.

I had so much fun, that I've played it three times now! My house is a bit neglected, but hey! Totally worth it!

Thank you. I am having a lot of fun, still!

It's story, stupid!

JK. :o The DLC was nearly perfect and bested the shadow broker DLC by a huge margin. However, the story still felt very weak although it was compensated by lots of humorous moments and lines. I can't even imagine how Bioware brought up the quality of a dlc this much from shabby Omega DLC. I bet those 2 were developed in different studios.

Combats were the best in the trilogy(no dragging, no long corridor fights) and cutscenes had much more intense actions and motions that adjusted to Shepard's core class which was something new. (Biotic Shepard for the first time.)

Bioware's strength has always been with its characters and this DLC did a very good job in utilizing those characters to fan's satisfcation. In many aspects it was very much like the mark of the assassin DA2 DLC, but better in every aspect and shared in weak plots.

You only need to hire more good writers to strengthen narrative and patch plot holes together. (Not talking about the infamous endings. ME3 as a whole suffered from poor plots and extremely weak story) While I personally prefer RPGs like The Witcher 2 or Game of Thrones because they have much stronger narrative, ME3 is more fun to play due to superior game mechanics. If you could make fans 'care' about your story, ME4 has potentials to become the best TPS/RPG ever made.

Best DLC ever made. Clone Shepard was ok but the party was amazing! Wrex, Grunt, Javik and Zaeed make a perfect team. I laughed my ass off several times during the party. I always wanted my entire squad to just relax and have a great time with each other. Too bad not everyone could be there like Legion,Mordin and Thane. Drunk Tali/Grunt/Javik is the best. Also Tali singing and doing 183 pullups or whatever with James was great as well.

The combat arena was a great idea. I'm sure it will get boring eventually but right now I'm still enjoying the hell out of it. Being able to play with almost all your squamates again is a great feeling even if just for a practice match. The amount of fan service/jokes/references in this DLC is mind-blowing. This is what a DLC should be.

However it still has some cons. It's great that I can have my squad back for the arena but why not for the rest of the game? I mean I can understand that Wrex needs to organize the Krogans or whatever but the others like Kasumi/Grunt/Samara etc. could easily join you.The only other negative thing I can think of is the fact that after this I have to go through the ending which pretty much ruins the feel of it.

Still all in all it's an amazing DLC and it was well worth buying. Thanks Bioware. A small flame of hope reignited in me after I finished playing it.

Ooookay. Well I have only one problem with it, that borders on stupid nitpicking, but it's what I have been wishing for since early ME2. FemShep gets two new one night stands, and can kiss Samara. Poor Kasumi still has nothing just a crush on a guy who plans to propose to his pregnant girfriend.
Good stuff: The story. Wrex, The Assault on the archives with the best squad banter ever. The whole party, the combat arena. The short elevator ride on the normandy. Basicly This DLC has everything people wished for. I might buy only normal versions of the games(unlike for example the CE ME3) but my faith is pretty much restored. Outstanding job. You still have it in you.

Solid shootout, some nice jokes. Worth the money? NO!
WTF 3.5Gigabytes for wat? 2 hours? other games give 20 hours with the same graphics in the same amount of data...
And the End is still the same ****...

I've had a horrible couple of weeks and this DLC was the first thing to really make me smile again. It was just what I wanted: funny, a little silly, and very entertaining. I loved seeing everyone together again; the banter was spot on and I adored all of the in-jokes and references. I could play it over and over again - and plan to - and still enjoy it. That has to be a good thing.

I was smiling sadly at the group photo since I knew that was signalling the end - but I expected to be down after it finished; I have so many happy memories from this franchise and will miss looking forward to new stories. Nevertheless, I was hoping the last DLC would go out with a bang and in my opinion, it certainly succeeded.

My favourite DLC is still LotSB but Citadel is definitely a close second, albeit for different reasons.

I thought it was totally hilarious, and total fan service, they called out everything I was laughing so hard through it.

The clone mission you can't take seriously, it is like a side mission, the main focus was on your squad and friends and it was perfect, I didn't want it to end, I wish they had done this more in other DLC's, this is by far my favourite one,

Indoctrinated (IT believers) fans won't be happy of course. And there was a time when I was with them. But it is obvious it is never going to happen no matter how much they stomp their feet.. I will stop here before I rant XD

I think this is the only DLC I thought was worth my money and that is saying something..

I salute you for this Bioware

Brilliant. Just finished it up, and much like the posters above, great action (loved the new suppressor pistol, btw), some awesome tidbits of story and humor, and a strong thread of bittersweetness.

Which made me stop, and think. I don't expect an answer, really, but to Chris and any of the other creative team members that might read this, a question. I think for players who have immersed themselves in the ME universe, we've all been emotionally moved in some fashion, some just a little, and some profoundly. I wonder, for you who have lived and breathed and worked for so long and so hard on this trilogy, how is it for you? I have to guess perhaps the feeling is akin to sending your child off to college. You've done your best, worked hard, laughed, played, cried and dreamed with them, and when they disappear down the street, you're left with a sense of pride, accomplishment, and that same feeling of poignancy.

Thoughts?

I didn't like how Tali was protrayed, honestly. No matter how you throw the party she ends up drunk. Don't serve drinks and she'll end up drunk in the bathroom floor. No one seems to be too bother that she got drunk and could had killed herself with cheese. Shepard is such a good LI for worrying about her safety...

Yeah, she has drank before but that was different. Before she was drinking because the mission with Miranda reminded her of her own father issues and it was a deep emotional thing. It fit in with the story, it was a moment of weakness. It was understandable. Now she's just boozing and risking her life carelessly because, hey, why the **** not?

The "loud party" was extra distrubing. She get's so ****faced that she wakes up with an omni-tattoo (she gets that in both) and she doesn't even remember who dressed her back into her suit? Did no one else find that kinda disturbing tt Tali was THAT drunk? The fact that Javik was passed out in the bathroom of your bedroom at the same time... I dont known what to think. But its pretty disturbing and seems really out of character.

The singing bit was... interesting. Though it kinda killed some of the romance the Shepard and Tali relationship had, imo. I mean Tali's reaction ad her little "feel your skin on mine" speech when Shepard returns her feelings in the second game was very touching and emotional. Now I wonder "Was all that really form the heart or was she just trying to reenact what she saw in some vid?" It took away from the sincerity and made the whole thing less special and bit more uncomfortable.

I had fun in this fanfictiony DLC though. The above complaint was really the only thing that bothered me enough to spoil the experience any.

Oh, and the Arena has some serious framerate issues and lag sometimes when you're using non-standard squadmates. A console reset helps it sometimes but it can still get pretty bad. Not sure why.

Im from malaysia. Purchasing this dlc is expensive for me, cost almost rm50.00+. But i went on anyway. The dlc is great n by far the best dlc i ever played. I know it going to be worth it. Kudos to bioware.  Now im waiting for mass effect  4.
