I know we are supposed to allow the author their fiction, but as Wrex puts it so well, "in the old days didn't we used to win these?" I feel the same way. This should have been the post story save the universe get to relax and then move on. New series; but alas that is not to be. We must have a dark ending the hero must die for the fiction the story wasn't good enough without it.
Please play this DLC it is worth your time and you talent this is the ME that has kept so many of us around for so long.
To quote: "Good luck bioware, you are going to need it."

When I fired up this DLC, I was expecting a fun time, something along the lines of the Omega DLC (which was also fun, but I understand the angst behind it). What I got was something much more exhilarating. This DLC was the most fun I've ever had playing video games. The one-liners were hysterical, the action was fun, and the scenery was absolutely beautiful. Bringing back the old hands was a nice touch as well; it made me remember how much I really enjoyed having Wrex on my team.
It's rare for me to laugh throughout a playthrough, but I couldn't help myself with this one. Whether it was the love interest being flirtatious at the least opportunistic of times, Javik being the deadpan snarker he is, or Brooks' dulcet tones, or the slight jabs at fellow teammates throughout, I had to catch myself from laughing at every little line. Needless to say, I failed. One exchange in particular had me crying from laughter.
Overall, this was a great ending to a great series, and I look forward to seeing what the future brings.

However, I also agree with everyone else that it's incredibly jarring if you try to fit this into the greater context of the game.

Haha....don't remind me of the "Cerberus incompetence" conversation. ROFL. It's surprising that clone didn't get out of control and started killing all their guys....Flidget wrote...
The DLC itself was thoroughly fantastic - I loved the humour, I love my squadmates, I even liked the Evil Clone (the way the Illusive Man has been running Geth Taco since ME1, it's almost expected Ceberus would create one, Tropes aren't Bad, etc.)

Cons
Difficulty balance on insanity - I played it during my insanity run, and the solo parts were hardcore, while the first team up was almost self playing... no challange at all... so I think the difficulty balance on insanity is waaaay of...
Story and the big twist...
Well... I don't like this plot device... Wrex says, it is logic IF you think about it, but I was more like SERIOUSLY (in a bad way)?
Level design
The archives were... I do not know...I did not like'em... and the Mako and Hammerhead thing, while a great idea... utterly underused... overall, the shoot outs were not really interesting...
Pros
Lot of heart, lot of great moments, lot of humor in a very dark time for this universe... very warm and touching
Mission content 7,5/10 - Very (almost to) challangig gameplay (on insanity), great cut scenes, great dialogues, we get Kasumi style party gameplay, although at first it just feels like a rip off, it is nice...
Post mission content 10/10 - great locations, great meet ups, great cut scenes, great dialogues
If you buy it for the story/fighting... it aint shadowbroker and it aint Leviathan (although it DOES try), but if you get this for the sqaudmates, the conversations and the casual fun in the Citadel party district.... You absolutley need it.
And.... I broke Vegas record... when a game motivates you, to do this... for almost ten minutes... then the writers did their job very good... and Vega is much more likeable in this!
I still did not do the party... but I expect, that after the party my impressions will be even better, but even if not... it already was worth the price!

Point being, the DLC feels out of place in ME3. At this point in my game, Shepard just got her behind kicked by Kai Leng, Thessia has fallen, the Reapers are now occupying 99% of the galaxy and Anderson just calls her out of the blue to tell her to party it up? What? Ok, from a logical story perspective, it just seems highly unlikely. Where's the doom and gloom atmosphere? Where's the sense of urgency present in ME3? Citadel'a plot feels out of place (especially the party). I think it would have had the potential to fit in nicely as a final "celebratory" dlc if the endings of ME3 had been a little less, well, lethal for Shepard.
Endings aside, I sort of think that this DLC would have been perfect for ME2. Right after the Shadow broker mission, before the Batarian fiasco, for example. It makes more sense, in terms of the vibe, the "involvement of the entire crew" motif and the plot. Expecially the plot. Let's be honest, Shepard's resurrection (and anything that ties into it like, say, the clone) was the main premise of ME2. It becomes a marginal matter in ME3 with the war going on. Cerberus and Shepard's rebirth aside, there are other details that make more sense in the ME2 context. The Shakespeare-reciting elcor and the constant Archangel references, to name a few. I wouldn't be surprised if this dlc idea had been originally indended for ME2. But this is only wild speculation...
At any rate, despite my problems with the placement of this DLC, I did have a lot of fun playing it. Loved the dialogs and party banter

HOWEVER, with this Citadel DLC, more specifically the Party, BW have created one of the most profound pieces of interactive art in the history of the medium (directly comparing it to works I've seen in galleries). And like 'art', is has a rarified audience - though instead of art skool types, it those of us who have taken 3 games to get to know the characters.
If you set an assignment at art school on the theme of "Goodbye", I doubt anything could come close to that party. Bravo. And thanks for all the fish....

Sure, it does not fit too well into the bleak ME3, neither in terms of story or in terms of mood, and the endings become even more jarring when Shepard keeps reassuring her loved ones that they WILL survive and that they DO have a future.
But it is SO well done!
If you want to do another DLC like that, feel free to do so. I'm sure that sales figures will soar.

Besides the integration of Shepard's LI, I also loved how my class was reflected in-game. I finally got to talk to people about my biotics! And they referred to me as one!
The mix of difficult battle, the stealthy heist and the boss fight at the end made the Citadel one of my most memorable ME-experiences gameplay-wise. The different mix of tempo and intensity was great, and having my whole crew with me while going into the archives was a great idea!
I thought the inclusion of clone!Shepard was ridiculous, but it was the right kind of ridiculous! My Shepard has a pony-tail, which hardly any other NPC has in the game, so I actually realized a moment before the revelation whom I was dealing with, hehe. Anyways, it was completely over-the-top and therefore totally awesome!
Another great aspect with this DLC was to see my Shepard cut loose a little and join in the fun with great banter. The Enemy barks, Shepard's fixation on irrelevant detals ("I don't really sound like that, do I?" and the all-mighty Space Hamster!) was so funny to me! The comedic timing was good, and I think Samantha stole the whole DLC with her tooth brush.
The boss fight was difficult, but in a fun way. It got a bit uncoordinated, but I wouldn't expect a fight with my own clone to be a "good, clean fight", it got itty-gritty, all-rules-are-off, just the way it should. The initial stealthy part with no medi-gel was a nightmare though!
I loved the party, and have replayed it so many times to try to get all the different variations of the banter. All the different meet-ups in the Party district was also a lot of fun. I also enjoy the Armax Arena, though I haven't unlocked the bonus armour yet.
I'd like to give a special thanks for Thane's memorial and video messages. This was exactly what I felt that my Shepard, who lost her lover, needed to be able to process her loss. It was a lovely scene and one that went straight to my heart. I also loved that she sort of got to hear him before returning to the Normandy, since other Shepards got to talk to their LI. Very nicely done!
There was a few problematic scenes in the DLC, but on the whole it felt a lot more "complete" than the rest of the game (and I say that as someone who loved the game, original endings and all). It makes me very hopeful for your upcoming projects!
I hope that Bioware will continue to strive to make all gamers feel equal, male or female, straight or gay. And as always, that you will keep doing amazing games and add-ons like ME3, Leviathan, Omega, From Ashes and the Citadel!

Where to start. Loved the idea of the clone Shepard. A shame it ended rather quickly, as they could have done an entire sequel around that theme but hey ho. The combat parts were fine as always. What I really want to touch on is the characterisation in this DLC. The humour, the banter, the emotion. It was just brilliant. Why oh why could we not have had this as the real ending of the trilogy? It was such an awesome send off.
I loved the whole party scene, just talking to teammates and throwing my support where needed. By the end of it, it really did feel like an era had ended. And I realised, even with the poor ending this had been a wonderful journey. Some of these characters will remain beloved for many years to come in my book. I even bought all the action figures of the crew just to remind me! I'm still going to remain bitter on never 'truly' seeing Tali's face in game though. Bah.
This DLC was Bioware at it's best. Proper story telling, and characterisation. I just wish EA would give them more damn development time in future. But looking at the SimCity fiasco... some things will sadly never change. So thanks Bioware for arguably the three greatest games, and game series in living memory. I wait for Mass Effect 4 with anticipation, with a new start - hopefully on a new generation console.
I'll keep arguing for a Mass Effect MMO though, as when walking around the Citadel it made me daydream about how awesome it would be for all the NPC's around you to be real players. Perhaps some day.
On a final note, thanks for adding the EDI "mechs" to multiplayer. Still my favourite character from the entire series. Now just give us a Bishoujo figure of her, and all will be well with the world...

In my head the Citadel DLC took place after the ending though, I couldn't help but imagine that! Although the EC helped to imagine that your LI and friends aren't ready to give up on you and come looking for you which was better than nothing. And now i'm a lot more over the ending, so the fact that they seem to not be ready to accept your dead at the end and the Normandy flies away as if they are gonna come look for Shepard, thats enough for me.
So overall the Citadel DLC was a brilliant and emotional way to say goodbye to everything I have enjoyed for so long, it really has been an amazing ride and a joy to play!
So for that Bioware, thank you!
I will never forget this game, and never forget the amazing characters especially my 2 favourites Garrus and Kaidan! Kaidan of course because he was my Love Interest and he was an amazing character and very lovable
So loved the DLC and was a lovely emotional goodbye, so again, thank you Bioware! Can't wait to see what journey you have for us next!

Mordin, too, only had a datapad. I spared him to work on the Crucible, and the only difference in the entire Citadel DLC was one line on it. Why couldn't I meet him somewhere on the strip, even if he was faking his own death?
BioWare already broke the bank with the voice cast here. One way they economized was to not make multiple scenes per character to address such issues, but adapt the same content as appropriate to the situation. Too bad this approach evidently didn't work for Legion, though.
I do understand that. But they already had to hire Mordin's voice actor to do the datapad. Why not give another scene for those of us who spared him (after all, we're already missing tons of content since Wrex is dead). It would encourage replayability
And, as you've already acknowledged, Legion was left out. Lots of other fun characters were left out too: Yeoman Chambers, Chakwas, and even characters not on the Normandy squad, but an immersive part of Shepard's story, like Gianna Parasini or Major Kirrahe.
