So, who here likes to write stories? I do, even though I'm not great at it; writing does allow my to express what I'm thinking. What's good storytelling? There's many elements to consider, but in your own opinion what do you think makes a good story? Is it the drama? The relationship between characters? How well the story begins or how well it ends? Limitations on plot holes or retcon encounters? Emphasis on foreshadow? Out of these & your own thoughts would be adequate (in your opinion) to tell a good story?

Also I'll like people to consider the effects of having many writers on a single project than just one. Would a story be better told through one writer than many? Or maybe vice versa? What are your thoughts?

I think great characters make great stories.
Humans tends to be very obsessed with humans. We really like to look at ourselves.
So you put great characters and you challenged them with human problem , except you make it all more epic, funny, tragic ...you put dragons ,ridiculous situations ,huge loss etc whatever..
Depends on the style you want.

About having a lot of writer , I just think it changes the dynamic and add challenge to the writing process...I guess it had pros and cons.
Just like when you work with any team , sometimes it's a drag , sometimes you share ideas and you end up with something great that you couldn't have done alone.

To be honest , i read david gaider 's blog about writing for video games and I don't envy the job at all.It seems very frustrating and i think having writers working in team sounds like one of the funniest thing.(on good days )

take ian c esslemont an steven erikson they 2 are writing some of the best fantasy ive read in a long time, each writing there own books but set in the same world an started through just talking an telling each other stories

margaret weis and tracy hickman? need i say more

but there books, i believe a game is a whole new ball game, the group of writers could bunch heads an write to most fantastical story anyone has read, but can it be put into a game as is wrote? thats prob why the floor is cluttered i guess lol, on a game i believe having more writers is a plus because it can lead to perspectives that 1 person may not have or just miss multiple writers = multiple solutions/outcomes which for me as a gamer is good.

As to writing stories, i cant write for sheet an wouldnt know where to start, id love to but thats probably why my brains so cluttered because i dont have the skills to put anything down in words lol most of the time i dont even know how to write what i want to say tbh an what i end up writing is just crap, as is evident rofl
