...even if it does feel like a massive departure from the previous Thief games now.... It's no wonder they removed 4 from the title...

A popular trend for game titles as of late is simply removing the number and starting "fresh", in a
reboot-y sort of way. Devil May Cry, SimCity, etc. Perhaps they decided that was the route to go.

Until I can see the gameplay itself, it's too difficult to put in an objective opinion. Right now, my interest is lukewarm. Thief was a fantastic series, but whether bringing it back from the dead after 9 years was worthwhile is difficult to tell. "Garrett" with a goth look isn't helping.

Wow, in one of those pictures you can see an old keeper statue in a brothel.

This is what I want to see: references to the old games. Also I hope that we will have pagans and hammerites in the new title. Without them, the City wouldn't be the same, but I dig the desing of the city and Garrett. I don't know why people say that it is not faithful to the original one. It is very much like in the old games: gothic-medieval mixed with Victorian industrial revolution architecture.

So, what are your thoughts now that its close to release? I haven't paid attention to any pre-release stuff, I mentally marked it as a day one purchase just based of the concept. The one trailer I've seen did remind me a lot of Dishonered as others have said.

Hats pls. Have you not played Thief. You should totes play Deadly Shadows at least.

I have not but I probably will at some point.

If Eidos dare f*ck up Thief 4 which they obviously have judging from how f*cking terrible it seems to be then i'm done with AAA games, not one more disappointment ! Indie and Kickstarter save us.

They've already changed it so much from their original concept and so close to release that I'm uncertain what to expect from this game.
