I need to declare my love for Wynne- and not in the she's-a-hottie-grandma sort of way either (though she's sort of hot in a vintage cougar sort of way and how she's a connoisseur of ale's)  But I'm talking as a teammate for my PC, who is a dual wielding DPS- I work with Wynne perfectly.   Her Haste aura, plus my Momentum, means I deliver lots of damage at a unprecedented lightning fast rate.  Plus, with all her healing abilities, she keeps me in the fight all the time.  If I fall; revive-  thanks grandma!   Pretty much from the first time I met her in the Tower, the old lady never left my side.

Toss in Morrigan with Death Hex and a boss character goes down FAST.  Those Generals at the end- yea, they didn't stand much of a chance.  Also, as much as they hate each other, Wynne and Morrigan work great with a Earthquake/Blizzard combo.  Earthquake keeps the mob stuck, Blizzard just trashes them and slows them down even more.  Only the higher level enemys can walk through it.

I've played the ending, multiple times- some without her.  Every time without her the battle is harder.  I'm telling you, Wynne is the greatest support character of them all.

Haste and Momentum cancel each other if I heard correctly.

I liked Wynne a lot too. Even when she is trying to protect you from evil. We will all die in the end just as she undoubtly must know

Haste and Momentum stack only for a warrior DW with precise striking activated. The 10% attack rate decrease brings the total attack speed just below the reset level. Killer DPS combo.

I'm reasonably certain, given the OP's profile with a high level warrior and a level 2 rogue, that they're speaking from experience on their warrior where, as pointed out, precise striking allows the two buffs to stack.

Well they gave her a face of a grandma but a body of a 20 year old so go figure.  lol  Actually ingame with head gear and armour she looks like any other young player even zoomed in.  The body is exactly the same as any female character without clothign on.

She is defintely an awesome group supporter and I generally take her with all the time.  Plus aren't her friend benefits good for the entire group like additional healing benefits or something.  I forget.

Wyn is anglo saxon for joy (from which the name Wynne stems). Amusingly Winstan pretty much equates to "stone of joy" in Anglo Saxon too.

I think Wynne is a great character, and definitely a boon to a good-ish party.
My only problem with her gameplay wise is the mana burn... which is understandable considering everything she is doing.
Going to try to focus on getting her some mana regenerating gear, but I'm having a hard time locating anything that isn't geared towards an Arcane Warrior.
Would anyone have any suggestions of items or where to find them?
I'm thinking squishy mage gear, robes, boots, staff, rings, etc.

I have her setup with:

Libertarian's Cowl:
+12 Defense
+0.25 Mana Regeneration

Tevinter Mage Robe
+1 Mana Regeneration
+4% Spell Resistance
+5 Spellpower

- So that's +1.25 mana regeneration with high boost to defense.  Tevinter Mage RObe is buyable in Denerim and I think Libertarian's Cowl I got in Circle of Magi.

Not sure on any rings, but anything that boosts willpower will do and I know ther are rings that give at lesat +2 to willpower to increase mana quantity.

Also if you are rolling in the gold.  Some really sweet gear.  Of coure if you are a mage I can't see you not wearing these. :) Forget about Wynne.

Staff of Magister Lord (128 + gold)

+2 mana regen.
+6 willpower
+6 spellpower
10% fire/spirit dmg

Andruil's Blessing (Belt - 106 + Gold)

+2 All Atributes
+1 mana regen
+1 Stamina regen
+10% Physical Resistance
+20% Nature Resistance

- Other then that and what I posted before is most of the things that help in man regen for any mage.

I love Wynne too. She was there for me when Morrigan bailed at the end. I was really confused because Morrigan was such a big part of my combat strategy and main AoE attacker. Wynne stepped in and held it together.

"I'm not the sort of person to leave things unfinished. I'll see this through. I promise"

Thanks Wynne.

Also she's a sweet old lady.

I hate her, as a character. She is honestly my least favorite character. She says she cares about the blight, then somehow magically figures out I desecrated the urn, when there was no possible way she could have known. So, she leaves the party. Because the ashes of a dead woman, who in my elf's view, betrayed his people, is more important that fighting the blight. Come on, she lives in a tower where the Templar will lobotomize you if you even under suspicion of wanting to leave. I would think that she would at least stay to defeat the blight, even if she wanted to kill me.

Wynne is a great support party member, indeed. However, give Morrigan some Spirit Healer talents and I see a replacement.

But Morrigan gets her second specialization too late, while Wynne will have already some spells in it.

And no, mods are not an option when talking about this. I only played a clean game, and therefore I had Wynne 90% of the time in my party. It's like a mother to me. I could never kill her.

She was a literal lifesaver in my first run, before I figured out where to get elf root :) My rogue character and her got on, but my current mage and her have a much closer relationship, both tactics and in storyline. She'll keep the party charged up, my character is all "kapow! KA boom!" with the AOE spells, particularly the beloved cone of cold which Wynn will follow with a stonefist.

And we both chug lyrium potions like ice water on a hot day. I make periodic trips to the Circle to get all the lyrium for crafting.

She initially chastized me about my relationship with Morrigan, then was supportive later. Then I switched to Leliana, now am smooching with both. I think she's too confused to say much now. Poor old lady can't keep up. I think my character would romance her too, if she'd just pucker up. I wouldn't want to get in a lovers quarrel with her though - "Sorry, I don't think I'll revive you, you backstabbing two-timer".

Her default tactics do eat mana like crazy. I usually modify them to take off the automatic Regeneration tactics. It requires you to manage her a bit more, getting in those Group Heals when necessary, but will save on potions early on.

Despite that Wynne is a key ally early on, especially for a PC warrior or rogue, I usually turn to Morrigan once the game is advanced enough to give her Group Heal and Revival. Just find her default set-up more deadly in the long run.

Yep, I just get Morrigan the spirit healer talents and the default heal spec for single target healing and I'm set.

I actually only used her in the mage tower on my first play through (which was 2nd after redcliff) and just chugged healing potions like crazy before then if Morrigan wasn't able to do single target heals.

I have Wynne set to take lyrium potions when she runs low. I just have to be careful that she doesn't chugg them down after the fight is over.

I too like Wynne a lot, as a character and in a fight. Set up right, she is the one that keeps the whole group going.

Thanks for that.  Extremely helpful.
After reading your post, I went out looking and found Tevinters Robe in the Wonders shop in Denerim, and my character was wearing the Libertarian's Cowl.
I gave Wynne both of those and noticed a big difference right away.
Now I just have to save up some gold... that belt is pretty awesome.

Zevran lampshades this by talking about her "magical bosom"!

I like Wynn even though her preaching annoys me.  I prefer bringing her to bringing Morrigan, even though Morrigan has killer debuffs.  However, in my two most recent games she won't get as much playing time.  In one my blood mage tends to leave her behind, and in the other I plan to unlock Reaver, and who knows what will happen.
