My wife and I each started Dwarf Noble rogues. I went Combat, she went Coercion. When I got to Denerim, I sold my DLC Blood Armor to Gorim for 8g , she sold it for 15g.
If his reaction to a character is that much of a difference, it seems well worth pumping Coercion early, just to be able to afford some of the more expensive pieces quickly.
My question is how many ranks of Coercion does it take to get that reaction?
From what I can tell, it makes it's check only the first time you meet the merchant. Since I have to restart my character anyway, my plan is to push Coercion up while only using the merchants at Lothering, until I have at least 3 ranks in it. Then trying the other merchants. If it doesn't work, I'll reload, wait until I get to 4 ranks.
Has anyone figured out the max merchant reaction, who can save me some trouble?
How does Coercion affect Merchant's reaction?

Are you sure that you both sold to Gorim? I haven't noticed Coercion affecting selling prices *at all* - the only thing I've noticed that does is whether or not you're a Dwarf Noble selling to Gorim (and no, I don't think that the "increases monetary gain" items affect sell-to-merchant prices either).
If you sold the BDA chest (from the DLC promo) for ~7G or 8G, you could have gotten that from any merchant. If you were a Dwarf Noble selling to Gorim, you should have gotten more.

My first thought as well.
If I sell it to another merchant, I get a bit over 4g. Gorim pays 8g.
If I turn my head and look at my wife's computer, she's standing at his booth and he's paying 15g.
The only difference is our Coercion ranks, as far as I can tell.
I'm going to start a new toon, use the trap glitch to level up quick, and test this out. I'll post and findings.

Well it might also be how you played your orgin story and the sex of your character, and if you flirted with Gorin in the origin story, there alot of factors here, and not enough details.

It might be that she was a higher level than you, not sure though

I just stubled upon something on the wikia site coincidentally.
Gorim buys for more money off of PC's who are Dwarf Royals, might explain it.

We are both playing Dwarven Nobles. I just got back, will be playing and will post if I find something.

Are you both playing at the same Difficulty level? Are you both the same gender? Were you _both_ selling the Blood Dragon _chest_ armor (as opposed to different pieces)?
Generally speaking, from _everything_ I've heard on the subject is that ALL merchants buy from you at 25% of the item's value -- EXCEPT that Gorim will offer a Dwarven Noble 50% of item value.
