Why does femshep for lonewolf banner look like Michael Jackson?

I still don't understand why that default femshep became a fan favorite.

I mean if she had been around since ME1 I would understand, but she looks horrible AND was added late to boot. Did people play with the classic default femshep and then switched to the new one when they played Mass Effect 3? How can you retain emotional attachment to your character when the face is totally different?

Some players happen to be simple guys who take what looks attractive to their eyes.
Also I was NEVER happy with how my Shepards ever came out, always looked like neanderthals, so now I just pick whatever I like off database and change it to something more fun in ME2.

I played with a custom Femshep throughout, but appreciate the default FemSheps. ME3 Femshep was the first to get recognition (her own trailer, box cover, etc.), so she became the poster girl for FemShep users. I like her looks in the concept art, but prefer my Femshep's in-game look.
