Sure it was unexpected but the game needed some cuteness-relief.
I found tali's singing to be cute.

Had a huge smile on my face the entire time she was singing. Plus the thought of a Quarian sleepover...

After watching it a second time, I realized it wasn't as bad as I first thought, and it was kinda cute in a bad singing kind of way, and the lyrics were relevant.
Still mad over the face though.

When does she sing? I've completed it but didn't get that.

No face, no justice. It would have been too good to be true.
... Right, about the singing... It's awkward the first time but I guess realistically it makes sense (for a romance).

Cheesy as hell. Completely kills the mood.
I'm not a Talimancer so I guess I'm not as annoyed.

I was too embarrassed for her, I had to skip through it. I kind of feel bad for Talimancers, I'd feel cheated if my LI revealed that some of the sweet things they'd said to me weren't really coming from them, but from some romance movie they liked.

Wait how did you get this? I romanced her but she never sent an email about coming to the apartment.

I think most people don't like it at first because of how surprising and unexpected it is.

I liked it too. Romance scenes dont always have to be serious.
Besides, it was purposely meant to be funny and cute.

I've had more than one girlfriend who've done this exact thing, with full-on drama, during either a musical or Disney movie.

It was funny particularly Shepherd's reaction now on side note that actually was Liz/Ash Sroka singing right? Bit of a dumb question I know but I couldn't really tell...whoever it was she didn't do a terrible job.

It was the first time I was taken off guard by an event in the series.

Woke up to find Javik crawling around on the floor in a hangover, and Tali had left my bed, gone to another bedroom and was huddled up in the fetal position, also massivley hungover.
everyone else was relativley sober.
