Well i think my first time run of the game was pretty good.I began as Dalish Elf and i missed two companions,i believe you can already understand for who i am talking about, the dog and Lelian.Besides that i think the rest of the game went really well for me.I was playing in normal so it wasn't that difficult anyway. So for more info i was a Ranger/Assassin class.
My party was:
-Alistair:Tank
-Morrigan:Dps
-Wynne:Healer
-Me:Archer
I found the boss fights real easy.I mean Flemeth i just switched everyone in to rangers and then it was just chilling and healing(LOL).Actually the only boss i find a bit difficult was the blood mother and only because i dint expecting those dark spawn waves so it took me a couple of times. The funny think is that Longain also took me a couple of times because i was trying to kill him with Alistair when i finally i couldn't take it anymore and i just kick his ass with Morrigan(It took me less than 5 min to take him out and he managed to hit me only one time).Anyway maybe it was luck but i think it wasn't that bad for my first time.

P.S.
Actually i just starting my second character,a dual wielding human noble, but i just can create a face that i like(lol).

:P I think I did pretty well. I was a dalish elf warrior champ/berseker, dual wield. I always brought Alistair Leliana and Morrigan with me on my travels... somehow always winning the tough battles with a chance of luck and one person standing... I spammed healed so much during the archdemon battle it was rediculous I wanted to have my traditional trio with me it was very difficult without Wyne (I used her for flemeth and the dragon)

XD

All the healpots I had saved up really came in handy that final battle, I actually had to use the combat tactics the final battle to to make sure they would heal themselves.

Im glad to hear im not the only one who had a rough time on the first playthrough! One thing i did notice is that on my first playthrough i thought i was doing a good job on the sidequests...but man was i wrong. On my second playthrough, i sought out any and all sidequests i could find, and i completed every single one i had except for the love letter one, which for some reason it seemed like were disappearing from me

I join the ranks of those that thought "Wow cool, shapeshifting will be awesome" with Morrigan. Needless to say, as soon as the respec mod was available - those were the first to go.

I did *everything* wrong on my first playthrough. Just about the only thing I got down was maxing out my persuasion. x)

I played a warrior... but dual wielded and spent my points like a rogue.

I didn't realize tactics existed... until almost the end of the game.

I made Alistair my tank... and spent all his points in strength instead of constitution.

I killed Isolde... and never got Alistairs approval all the way back. (Also was majorly confused as to why I couldn't find the 'recruit Jowan' option.)

I pissed off Anora every single chance I got... and couldn't figure out for the life of me if she was a bad guy or not.

I did the mage circle last... because I didn't know this game had healers.

And I picked Harrowmont... because he seemed like such a nice guy, but wow, didn't expect that epilogue.

I'm sure there's plenty more. I made it a point not to read any spoilers before I finished (though I sort of broke this vow when I went looking for a recruitable character list after Jowan's set up confused me). And I played it on easy first, so I figured... why read the manual? It would come to me. :P

i wont say much more but if you play the dwarven noble origin, you would end up picking harrowmont (atleast i would hope so)

To be honest, the hardest fight to me was the Broodmother. I have no idea how I'm going to kill her with a single mage in my party.

here is what i did, equip everyone with a bow or crossbow, have the mage blizzard and tempest around the broodmother, everyone stay at ranged and just shoot her to death

i did this and didnt even realize she had died because i was mopping up some of the other adds

1st playthrough - Rogue.

Mistakes - Got Momentum too late

Did not invest in stealth or archery

Fell into the trap of cunning max and realizing I wanted to wield level 7 longswords

Didnt figure any spell combos except shattering and improved drain

Had Wynne Autolevel up !!!!

Did not invest in force field/crushing prison or mana clash

Difficult fights - Multi party wipes

1. Archdemon

2. Broodmother

3. Kolgrim

4. Branka

5. High Dragon

Re broodmother

Ranged Weapons will do it slowly but surely

Shale's Hurl Rock and Rock Barrage to lots of damage
