I have a question about installing DA on 2 pc's. I readed that you can only download and install the DLC 1 time but since Im with christmass at my parents home in Germany for 3.5 weeks I would like to known if thats true and that I can't install the game and the downloadable content for that pc also....This would kinda suck since I don't sell the game but still want to use the DLC on more then just 1 pc..
Thanks

Same kind of situation. I have a monster desktop and a wimpy laptop. I would like to be able to fairly seamlessly shuffle stuff between the two machines with my USB key
Are there specific directories?
Me grabbing C:\\Users\\*me*\\Documents\\BioWare\\* and shuffling it back and forth cover everything?
Are there specific files I don't want? do I need to grab any registry keys?

I would think it would be fine since the DLC is linked to your online account, not your install on the computer. But who know what they came up with to stop piracy and second hand sells.

Well, I can tell you you can install the game on two different computers (my husband and I did that with the copy I got yesterday).
With the DLC? I hightly doubt that, though unsure as I still haven't gotten my code to work.

DLC is tied to the bioware account you log in with. So as long as you're using the same account it should work just fine. You might have to download it again on the other computer.

The DLCs are tied to your account not to your PC.

As long as you're logging into the same account on both machines the DLC should work fine I'm guessing. Just a guess though.
If you have two installs on two different machines at the same time technically you need to have two copies of the game unless there is something in the EULA that states you can install it on more than one machine at a time, which I doubt.

I read the EULA and it doesn't say anything about being restricted to being on a single computer at a time. It also doesn't explicitly allow multiple computers, but they do say this:
Only licensed software can be used to access online services and/or
features, including downloadable content and access to such features
is limited to the you and your immediate family or members of your
household.
That sounds fair to me. I appreciate the language that they use, in that they aren't draconian about assuming single-computer households.

glad to know about multiple comps thanks.. as for DLC yeah it's tied to account so that doesn't look to be an issue. Looks like DRM is easy on this game.. love that!

Didn't work for me.
My PC version has the feral wolf charm, the steam pre-order staff, and the paid DLC and my xbox has none of those.

That was my thread on the pc/xbox issue.
I doubt I'll get an answer (so many people having issues) but had to try.

So far so good. I didn't try to download the DLC on my second computer (because of my slower connection there) but it was available to download and showed up as having bought them. Have the preorder bonuses and bought Warden's Keep. Am going to try and transfer the files later...

Crap, I just created a thread about that. And double crap, it won't work then
Thanks for the info anyway

I'm pretty sure the developers stated a while back that PC to PC was fine as long as you signed in to your account. How ever PC->XBox->PS3->PC doesn't work, as long as you use the same platform it works anything cross platform doesn't.

I didn't try and transfer the files, but I set up my laptop at home and downloaded the DLC just fine. Up and running so as the above poster said PC to PC does indeed work. Enjoy

Yes, it works with multiple install. I have it on my office PC. home PC and my laptop. You'll need to log in to your account and re-download the DLC on each machine. but otherwise, everything works fine. The only folder I need to jump between system is the character folder

Does this mean that I have to be online to use the DLC? Is there any way to download the DLC and then play offline?
I really hope I can do this. I've got the game installed on my laptop and I'm about to go on holiday and take it with me and don't know if I will have internet access while away. If I can't play the game with access to my DLC while being offline, then I will be a sad puppy.

I am wondering about that too Jokemeister. But theoretically, since you have already downloaded the DLC, shouldn't you be able to use it while playing offline?

I don't know. I only got the game last night so I haven't had a chance to try playing it offline yet. What worries me is that people are saying that the content is tied to your account - if so, how will it recognise my account if I'm offline?
Also, there are other threads on this forum where people mentioned that they couldn't load a saved game with DLC and it turned out that there was a problem with the updater (I think thats what they called it - you know, the in game software used to download the DLC).
I'll try loading my save game while offline tonight. Hopefully, it works.

you must be online to use dlc. I just tested.
if I unplug my interent and then start the game, when I try to load my save it tells me I must be logged in to my bioware account in order to play this save because of the dlc that is active, and it gives me a list.
if I plug in my internet then sign on then load the save then unplug the internet it works.
but if I sign in then unplug the internet then load the game it doesn't work.
so the only way you can play offline seams to be to load the game and then go offline and hope it doesn't check at a load point or crash.

Thanks for testing Arritillius.
I know I'm imposing on you here but can you do one more test? Can you load the save game as normal, disable the DLC and then save it in a new save slot. Then unplug the internet, load the game again and see if the new save slot (with disabled DLC) works?
If this works, then at least I can disable the DLC and save the game before I go on holiday so that I can keep playing. Not an ideal solution but at least I will be able to continue my game.

I think it is just stupid that we have to copy a saved game around. There are no excuses for not having the saved game info sent up to the "cloud" alongside the achievements and screenshots and other profile info. If Bioware didn't want to do it themselves, then the PoweredbyGameSpy guys can do it for them, the Steam guys can do it... there are options.
I just blew an evening trying to figure out how to resume my game at home, only to realize that logging into the account gets me nothing but access to screenshots (and achievements). I mean, who cares about screenshots if you can't play your toon?
