Don't get me wrong, part of me absoluteley LOVED IT,

but, there's something seriously strange about all of it. Like that Buffy Episode, Once More with Feeling (awesome) when everyone sings.

It's just silly and strange. Wondrously so, and so much LOL-factor I don't even know where to begin. But it just feels out of place with the rest of the game, I'm not sure it even happened according to my head-canon (and I really enjoyed all of it). Anyone else feel the same way?

Agreed, I love the DLC and never complained about it being during a war but it does feel really out of place.

"I was happy in the haze of a drunken hour..." and all that.

Eh. They had a valid reason for taking time off during the war (Normandy needing maintenance, something EDI actually mentions in one of her bridge comments to Shepard in the vanilla game), so I had no problem with it just being this bizarre little adventure that could only happen to Commander Shepard. And I really liked all the companion and squad interactions. And the humor.

Sure, there were a lot of times where the blatant pandering sort of threw me (the Blasto thing), and I had to tune out the meta multiplayer discussions in the ambient dialogue, but overall, I felt that it was a welcome relief for Shep and gang to just cut loose a bit, considering the stuff they've had to deal with over the last 3 years.

It was nice to do something fun. ME3 was lacking in that, which I get, its a war, not much fun going on, but still.... I think the only fun I had in 3 was my date with Garrus.

Why not? The DLC itself only takes place over the span of a few days at most. It is Shore leave while the Normandy is readied for the final fight. At least for me.

Absolutely. It didn't really seem like a part of the ME universe with all those cross-universe references. Even some characters' voices sounded different.

I'm thinking about treating this as a dream, in-world.

I used a save from just before Cronos to play this. It doesn't fit there.

However, any time before Thessia, I could accept that they take some time off while the Normandy is getting repairs. That's probably where I would place it in a future playthrough (as with all other DLC).

However, I also feel that you really shouldn't play this DLC without at least having played the ending once before. This really is the capstone for Shepard and his crew; for a new player, playing this before having finished the game would probably lessen the impact.

I found this dlc to be the most infantile, cheesy piece of gaming... and very out of place. It does not fit the rest of the story: and I'm talking about the trilogy and not only the 3rd game.

Seeing the general reaction now I see why so many hated the endings... and this is exactly what I would have hated: if the ending was anything like this. I don't know... but this adolescent fantasy, filled with b-category action-flick cliches, lots of cheese and with a horribly cheap and badly written story is not my cup of tea.

I guess that's the point: it's shore leave for everyone involved. The characters, the players, and the designers. A chance to say, "screw it, let's go crazy!"

"I saw a commercial for some DLC. It said, "forget everything you know about reapers." So I did. And it was a load off my mind!" - Mitch Hedberg on the Citadel DLC.

It's a relaxation day for everyone. I like that they focus on the date and relationship this time around with the DLC. I've always wondered how the crews spend their day-offs.

The entire galaxy is in danger. They're just enjoying the simple things of life and each other for what may be the last time.

Are you guys sure you're just taking it too seriously or rather, literally? I made that mistake for the first few hours till I realized, that it is basically a "meta" story. Notice how self-aware it is, how goofy it is and how light, the amount of cliches/tropes, especially ones related back to Mass-Effect, notice how it pandered a lot to squadmates or your team being cool or together, united and working together. I'll put it bluntly, when has Mass Effect ever made you use a tooth-brush to open doors, besides this DLC?

It's basically Bioware's goofy (and I assume non-canon) way of poking at themselves, at Mass Effect , at us, and saying goodbye. I would have liked a serious plot, don't get me wrong, but think about it. This DLC was a goodbye, from Bioware to us, and allowing us just one more chance to connect not just with the characters, but with things we can all relate too. One could say, it could even be a subtle theme of friendship, not just that we have with the characters, but real people, all of us here. It Incorporated so many jokes, so many memes, so many references to the community and things we loved. To things the other games had (Blasto, Fleet + Flotilla) It even included direct multiplayer references. The DLC's story wasn't its literal interpretation, it was that meta level, that level that it's good-bye.

A serious story is beautiful, but the subtle message (I feel) Bioware got through with this story, is much more potent.

(This isn't even going into an analyzation of the actual plot indepth)
