Thoughts on use of clone shep?

It is a trope, but regardless I did not see it coming and did not recognize her until she started talking. Honestly though, it makes a lot of sense. Why wouldn't TIM make an extra in case Shepard died or, as she said, "for spare parts"?

However, I think they missed an opportunity with Shepard. At the Cronos Station, when looking at the Lazerus files, she says something like "how do I know I'm not a clone or a sophisticated VI" and you can tell she is super conflicted and nervous. Why not play that up?

The clone plot is cliche and unravels quickly if you tug on the threads, but ultimately it was good 'popcorn' fun and they worked in a good scene answering the clone's question.

(I 'tried' to save the clone, expecting it to end the way it did. Should lhave put a bullet into Brooks, though - too Paragon for my own good...)

The clone idea was pretty lame but I did like the banter between realShep and his crewmates about it. BW clearly understood a lot of people would groan at the concept and had fun with it.

That said, you never actually see the clone die. They just fall out of sight. I'm not reading anything into that, just saying...

I actually LOVED it. I didn't see that twist coming at all so it was a fun ride for me. My Shep is mostly paragon and it was fun seeing the evil in the clone.

I wonder if a clone is what bioware was thinking of for an antagonist in the main game but they went with Kai Leng instead? Implications emotionally for Shep and for the galaxy as a whole would have been interesting I think.

Edit: I could see the Illusive Man trying to replace Shep with a clone as being possible.

Edit 2: Annd, I liked the symbolism in that Shep's crew is what made him/her/us successfull; CloneShep failed in the absence of loyal comrades and friends. Pure gold for me.

Not a good idea to be honest.

It to simple and is a lack of imagening

The could have done better there.

Like either having harbinger assume controll over the villain or resurect an old enemy from the past, saying that the reapers rebuilded him/her for that purpose. Someone that has a burning hate for shepard

Thought the clone idea was very poor.

My initial reaction to the evil clone was one of intense consternation and  taking a brief moment to wonder if the devs got writer's block and then got inspiration while spending a morning watching soaps.  Operationally, however, the clone was soon drowned out amidst an awesome stream of squaddie banter so I don't really care that's it's goofy.  Really, Lazurus Project was always kind of goofy so this just seems a natural extention of that.

A science experiment that tries to replace you and has an army of glowy green eyed mercs?

What's not to love?

Dumpster Shepard is great...
He's in the third dream too...

Both horrible and hilarious at the same time. There was also no explanation at all about what his ideas and motives were or what his future plans were.

So would anyone vouch this DLC being better than Shadow Broker?

I would. I like Liara, but I don't love Liara, and while Lair had a good story it lacked in interaction. I mean I took Garrus on that mission and him and Liara said not one word to each other disappointing. This DLC though... in a word awesome. Garrus and Wrex were pure win!

Hadn't thought about how that scene would play out post-Citadel. Huh.

Yeah, it's cliché, over-the-top, but just this once, it doesn't matter. The story was also intentionally parodying so it wasn't as if the writers didn't know what they were doing. At the same time, the "Clone Shepard" and their background fits into the ME universe and the existence of this clone didn't appear implausible.

I appreciate the mostly serious tone of the ME games but at this time, at the end of the DLC cycle, something with a different tone works well. I wouldn't have liked it at any other time.

Clone Shep plot was never meant to be taken seriously. Just look at how real Shep acts towards his clone. The clone has no chance from the beginning. He's only there to allow the player and characters to reflect on what makes Shepard the extreme baller he is.

I agree with Ragabul, it was like something out of a really bad soap. It made me stop playing for a minute, as I tried to wrap my head around it.

Yes, but believe it or not, I also think Leviathan is as strong as or stronger than LotSB.

I loved it. It is pretty much the only villan that works. Given that this DLC is about relationships and how they define the character we were building.

It's better. SB had great dialogue but much of it was Liara focused. I love Liara, mind you, just saying this one has legendary dialogue across the board by everyone.

If you don't kill the clone he lets go of the ramp and falls to his death. If you don't kill Brooks you convince her to let them arrest her - strongly implying she'll escape the first chance she gets without Shepard nearby to hunt her down.

Your friends come down to help you, Dumpster Shep looks at Brooks and she turns her back on him...
So he's like "What's the point?"...

Since it seemed like brooks was manipulating him and he still very "young" emotionally I doubt he thought further ahead than what brooks wanted him to do, and since brooks was former Cerberus and was angry that she had to help shep in me2 build a squad with non humans my guess is that she was going to use Shepard to cause warring amongst the aliens

I thought it was bloody obvious, but did not as such dislike it.

It did a good job of giving me the chills.

(On a side note: In the trailer the 'outline' of the character on the casino screen was clearly a short haired man like Sheploo, but in my first playthrough the character had dark red hair like my Shep, so it was pretty obvious from that point, if it hadn't been already..)
