I know it's really dumb to pick apart an "evil clone" plot-line, but one thing I kept wondering was why you needed a fully functional clone for spare parts. Couldn't you just grow a heart or a leg in a vat with Shep's DNA?

The Evil Clone/twin have been used reused and then used again  by pretty much any form of media by now,to say its a cliche is an understatement.

It made for a better boss fight than any static enemy character would have. Plus, the DLC was so much more than that brief encounter/combat.

it worked. didnt feel cheesy or anything. wasnt over the top. with what was thrown around in ME2...the questions of whether Shep was the real deal...or a possible clone. TiM doing what TiM does. and the idea of waking up and finding out you were less than nothing...spare parts? maddening. worked really good.

great boss fight too (on insanity)

Was anyone else dissapointed that there was no cliche scene, where shepards LI has a gun, shep and his clone are unnarmed. Both try to convice her that they're the real shepard and she has to decide which one to shoot.

He could also have been cerberuses plan B, if Lazarus didn't work.

Its a Sci-Fi game... honestly I think I would have been slightly disapointed if it wasn't used.

i was thinking that Family Guy episode here...with Stewie and Evil Stewie fighting in the part ala Star Trek.

I agree. Even though it was a suprise to me, it made sense.

When I saw that, my reaction was basically, "Really? That's where we're going with this? An Evil Twin™?" I really enjoyed the Citadel DLC overall, but I think it would have been a lot better with a different antagonist.

Agree completely with this

I saw it coming miles away that it was a clone... Sometimes I hate being able to predict what happens -.-
Halo 4, Diablo 3 and Gears of War 3 were less fun when you figured out how it would end after the first few hours.

Still one of the best DLCs I have played for any game, I am not complaining, besides I love the [SPOILER]
Get off my ship!*Kick*
[END SPOILER]
Just awesome =)

Well, can live with that cliché. It's old school, but hey, every cool hero / legend has to face him/herself one day. Even Jean-Luc Picard got one!

Fighting evil!Shepard was a fun AND frustrating experience since he was the same class as mine, giving me a real headache. The only good thing: I had 8 medigels, he just five - which means, I had an advantage.

Overall, must say, clone!Shepard isn't the best idea, but also not the worst. It was a worse idea to drop the Cerberus bomb once more. And - well - Brooks. I like her and her role, but she's never mentioned before. Not even Miranda has an idea on her. And tbh, Brooks seems to fill that role Miranda had in ME2 - TIM's right hand.

Like who? Who else would want to kill Shepard and be able to attack him/her on the Citadel?  Everything else has been done already, except this.

It was great for a one off and for a DLC where the emphasis is Shepard's bond with the crew. The clone IS commander Shepard, skills, voice, looks, everything, but it's shepard with no friends or loyal crew members and that Shepard fails miserably while The shepard that cares about their squad and their squad cares about them succeeds.

I really, really liked it. And, come on. Shepard came back from the dead, and lots of people had a hard time accepting that through ME2. If they can learn to live with that, finding a clone of Commander Shepard is probably something they've already been joking about for months and months! So when it does happen, Shepard and company can just shrug it off like another day at the office.

Hell, that sounds like vacation.

Hell, that was a vacation!  Compared to other stuff they've had to do recently, stopping an evil clone from stealing Shepard's life is just another thing they did to work off the stress of the reaper war!

Also, I honestly don't think the clone was inherently evil. I think that was completely Brooke's influence. CloneShep didn't have memories, but she did have all of the training and ability, which makes her impressionable. A blank slate for anyone to forge into their own design. CloneShep was a tool, and a tool that could be thrown away.

Aye.

That clone!Shepard pretty much reminds me of a renegade Shepard that kicks everyone in the balls for his own gain. And it looks as if life kicks back.
But also must say clone!Shepard has a right to be upset. Do you want to be a moving depot for spare parts?

Hey, even Brooks didn't move to help clone!Shepard. For her, s/he was a tool, nothing more. And in that moment, clone!Shep realized that as well. Living for what? Good question.

I felt sad for that guy. After all, he had the same memories (from ME1) like real!Shepard had. Which means in my playthough he must have felt like gutted alive in the very moment when Ashley (his LI) didn't save him. Just think about it.

"Living - for what?"

If it had been in ME3 proper, say as a surprise end-boss on Cronos, an "evil clone" would have been way too corny.

In this DLC, with the cheesy action-movie tone and the constant joking banter, it was perfect. So ridiculous it loops back around to being awesome.

Cloning is a real thing...
It's banned by the United Nations Bioethics commitee under their "Universal Declaration on the Human Genome and Human Rights"...

portal.unesco.org/en/ev.php-URL_ID=13177&URL_DO=DO_TOPIC&URL_SECTION=201.html

There have also been ideas to clone headless humans to get around the bioethics of cloned human organ farms...

^^^
Like Cerberus is going to care this much about bioethics...

A conspiracy in order to take real Shepard's identity, when you know everyone expects Shepard to fight the Reapers and surely die in consequence.

You know how hard it is to find a decent apartment on the Citadel?
