I could have swore we where suppose to get new clothing, even just the one piece....but dam.

Yeah, I was pretty let down that I had to put on the leather N7 dress to go out on the town. I was really expecting a clothing store actually, nothing major, just something like in GTA San Andreas.

Anyone find the ID for Miranda's red dress?

That's actually a very good question! But it will not work without a reloaded option, because it only fits Miris body model.

As far as I know, the texture-wrap for Miri's dress is the same, and I didn't notice an increase in size anywhere. This is the same outfit used by NPC's, the only difference is the fact that it HAS a Diffuse and the base-textures are larger, opposed to the NPC version.

Valuable as it's the only dress of that model you can effectively influence color on (free from pre-defined tint-map shades), so being able to add it to the locker is quite usefull.

It's the exact same deal with Liara's dress.

Shepard can wear anything you want as long as it's in game and you have the ID number for it. Its not like Shepard's boobs won't fill out the dress. Its a model, not clothes. Hell if you wanted to you can have femshep's head on Kai Leng's body.

Yeah, the mesh isn't the issue, Shepard can already wear a dress that is the exact same mesh that Miranda wears in that scene.

There's a mod here which changes the appearance of the horrible default dress - I use the long-sleeved black version and it looks so much better (shame the shoes can't be changed, though - ew). Not sure it'll work with the DLC though but worth a shot.

Will see if I can dig out the code for Miranda's dress.

Edit: You'd still need to add the extra line to the Coalesced.bin for the modded dress to show up. Gah.

*coughs politely*

I made a version with ankle boots instead of sandals, if you're interested!

The mesh is actually slightly different. With all major character outfits they put a bit more work into the texture.

Miranda's dress might be able to be recolored. The NPC dress can't. You have to know the ID # for each dress if you want to Femshep to wear it. But both dresses can be worn by Femshep.

Would have liked Miranda's dress a lot more if she didn't have boob bulge.

My long time hopes of downloadable badass Femshep leather jacket died with "Last DLC". A dress reskin that wasn't used by two other main characters/didn't look awful would have been nice too.

(Only complaint for the Citadel DLC, however.)

Don't thank me yet - I thought I had it, but it's just not playing ball. The mesh code is the same as for the white/purple version, it's just the textures which are different, and I just can't make it work - it either shows as the white one, doesn't show at all or crashes my game... Posted in the modding thread and I'll keep messing around with it as well - just not today, or I may end up throwing my mouse through the screen.

Of course, the next thing once it works is to see if I can reskin it black...

See those on the 360 can't get that and if I was able to go to the citidel and chose OPs mod dress along with 9 other different dress styles then that would've been fine at least that dress is modest and isn't so tight on her she looks like she can't breathe or sit while it could be a bit more relaxed compared to her N7 dress it's a way better option.

Ahem, I don't understand anything of what's happening in that thread :D

The reason why we needed an id to change that dress is because of the Red Carpet bit.
In RC, the game says "grab outfit from casual appearances that has id=100 and display it on Shepard" - so even if you changed from your Gibbed's autosave file or chapter save file whatever, you couldn't make it change to whatever id you were manually entering for Shepard's appearance.

It's the exact same thing for the opening scene outfit in Vancouver, only in Vancouver the outfit is actually unlocked in closet and its id was visible in Coalesced from the start.

Apart from that Red Carpet thing, the save files work as usual.

If you want that Miri dress (which I never beheld since i didn't play the whole DLC), you should look for mesh and material package locations, not ids.

As Ottemis said, that mesh is already available but with a tint map.
Maybe even without, I have no idea.

If the meshes are similar indeed, your best bet is probably to grab the location for the mesh that looks the same but from the main game, because the package it belongs to is streamed anyway - whereas DLC's packages may not be accessible on demand - no idea - someone needs to try. And then you could probably use Texmod to grab Miri's textures and put them on that mesh - if that mesh has a diffuse map indeed.

EDIT> oh apparently Miri's has a tint map too? Never tried Texmodding that - as I said, someone needs to try this, good luck.

So I dived in, and after half an hour of trial and error:

....one more thing comes to mind: If I could do it in half an hour,
a Bioware programmer can do it in 3 minutes. Why didn't they?

Why didn't Bioware just make a black & white / silver recolour of the Miranda / NPC dress for Shepard? It looks a lot better that the buttzip dress.

And thanks so much OP for the ID info! Changed the default casino dress as soon as possible. =)

EDIT:  Okay, I'm not sure if anyone else had this problem but ME3 wouldn't launch when I edited the default dress.  Just in case anyone else has this problem, fixing the plot flag on your desired dress seems to get ME3 launching again.  The plot flag for the new dress should be "21752" if I've got the right mesh. =)

Also don't know if this helps, but I took the default casino dress, added it in my wardrobe and changed it to: ID = **, Plot Flag = -1.  Just change the ID to a number aside from 100.  Never mind, just the plot flag.  Changing the ID just makes this dress load for an eternity.  XD  I will say I prefer the texture on this dress than the N7 one.  It's less shiny, or at least my display is making it look less shiny.

Hope this helps if anyone else had trouble launching the game after editing.  =)

The reason I was trying to grab Miranda's dress was I was hoping I could use it to texmod a dress that was black and white. Sadly, that doesn't look like I'll be able to do a texmod it like I was hoping. But as fortune would have it there is a NPC with the colors I want for that dress.

She is the Asari bartender in the upstairs bar at the casino. There is a second asari with this dress near the roulette tables.

The problem still being, I have no earthy clue how to grab the mesh and texture ID numbers to mod the coalesced. I grab most of what I need from this blog but he sadly doesn't have all the color variations. If someone could give me a hint or at least point me in the right direction, I would be most grateful.

Can someone explain to me (because I'm having some trouble understanding) why the white and purple version of this dress can't be texmodded? I'm gathering that it has something to do with the tintmap... but I still don't totally get what this means.

@Merylisk, In normal textures the outfit is colored from there. With this dress and most NPC outfits they have one mesh that applies to several outfits. Say they have 5 NPC wearing this dress and they want to have all five wearing a different color of that same outfit they use tintmap to color the different outfits instead of making five different meshes. Short answer its a lazy man's way of coloring meshes. However, this makes it harder for us to play with. Its not impossible but its really difficult to get the exact color you want.
