Miranda's dress still does use tintmap (to make it red) but it would probably be easier to work with. IMO it would be much easier and simpler to use different diffs with colours without any tint maps. Depending on how many NPC's it's probably bit more memory friendly to use same base texture and use crappy quality tint maps though. In any case I blame consoles, even my phone has 2x more RAM than Xbox 360.meonlyred wrote...
@Merylisk, In normal textures the outfit is colored from there. With this dress and most NPC outfits they have one mesh that applies to several outfits. Say they have 5 NPC wearing this dress and they want to have all five wearing a different color of that same outfit they use tintmap to color the different outfits instead of making five different meshes. Short answer its a lazy man's way of coloring meshes. However, this makes it harder for us to play with. Its not impossible but its really difficult to get the exact color you want.

NPC outfits will never have a diffuse, only a spec and tintmap. Miri's has a diffuse, it makes for a better quality texture combined with the spec. Spec alone is always a bit iffy but obviously saves space, as does the tintmap.

Red is looking for either the Miri version, or this black and white instance of the NPC version, seeing that one's tintmap can be manipulated as she wants.

Waaant. That black & white dress looks much better than the default we get. Why didn't you give us that dress, Bioware? =(

Love those long dresses, hate the Allers' one.

No, I've been working for the past week to do exactly that. If you can figure it out then by all means. It would actually be easier if I can get someone to give me the mesh/texture for the black and white dress that is already in game. And if no one can do that, then I would nice if someone can point me in the direction to figure it out on my own. People clearly know how to look up the coalesced codes, there is millions of people with coalesced downloads. I don't want someone coalesced, I already have my own modded with armor and flycam. I just want the bloody codes.
I've been trying to do exactly the same thing - I've given up for now, though, it was making my brain hurt.
The way I find coalesced codes is explained in this post here - the thread was made for ME2 but works the same for ME3. You need to use ME3 Explorer to extract the PCC files from the DLCs first, though - you can get that here . The mesh code for that dress model is BIOG_HMF_ARM_CTH_R.CTHg.HMF_ARM_CTHg_MDL - the problem is the material override, which for Miri's dress should be BIOG_HMF_FRM_R.CTHn.HMF_ARM_CTHn_MIRANDA_Mat1a (haven't tried digging out the black/white version yet, I don't have a save close enough to the casino scenes without replaying a few hours worth of game) but when I put that into coalesced it just doesn't show up. Have tried going the Texmod route, too, but all that did was make the standard purple/white dress look - odd...

Editing the tintmap for the purple and white dress, using Texmod, you mean? What exactly is making it difficult? I'm down to give it a shot... maybe with our powers combined we can figure it out, lol.meonlyred wrote...

Can you maybe send me the extracted textures/tintmap you were working from? I can't extract textures from the game myself using Texmod, since my laptop keyboard straight-up doesn't HAVE the key in Texmod that's bound to "extract texture", and there's no way to reassign it. It's super annoying haha.

I know I'm a little late to this, but I'm hoping anyone can help. I followed the directions of adding the additional dress as directed. Went for the "Helena" appearance dress, which shows up as normal in the armor locker. However in Citadel it appears as below. Granted that was still a big step up from the plastic thing before, but not quite what I had in mind.
I'm having the exact same issue here. I have all of the various casual outfits enabled (thanks to Aristaea's post here), and then I went in and added a new line which is a copy of id=26, the White and Blue long-sleeved dress, and changed the id to 100. When I loaded it I got the same dress but in Liara LotSB colors, just like you. I tried changing the id to a few different ones and they all come out like that. It's still better than the stock dress but it isn't the one I want.
I also verified that the line I added with id=100 works fine, because if I go into the locker and scroll through the outfits, it is there at the end, with the correct texture. So this is kind of stumping me.
On a lark I just tried it changing id=60 (White and red "Phoenix" armor on females) to 100, and that worked fine, Femshep was walking down the red carpet in red and white armor. Curiouser and curiouser.

If there is a solution for it, I'd certainly like to know but I personally am not aware of one.

And since this seems to be a good place to ask, does anyone know the name of the pcc file for the default dress? I'm attempting to use ME3 Explorer to replace it with the spiffy velvet dress texture someone linked to. I'm not a fan of constantly fiddling with Texmod and ME3. ME 1 & 2 were fine, 3 not so much with Origin.

I'm having a problem that I hope someone can help me with. I loaded a coalesced file to get the extra outfits and armor. Everything worked fine until I got to the casino in the Citadel DLC. My dress was changed to one of those suits with the backpack looking thing on it. How do I change to one of the dresses (even if it's the original one)? I tried downloading the coalesced editor from wenchy, but my antivirus software won't let me open the program. Please help me with this if possible. Thanks.
