I have mine bound differently from default, and SURPRISE-- I didn't mod my game!  I used "Key Bindings" in my options to move keys around.

It's an issue hitting anyone who has custom bindings, and it's not exclusive to what "those people have done."

Just take it easy before slinging out accusations about illegal modding at everyone who has this problem.


Would you be so kind and show me exactly where I said anything about illegal modding? Because I do know those key rebinding mods for spacebar and alike are very much tolerated by BioWare. I was just falsely assuming those were the reasons the Talon acts up like it does.



Looks like people are in for a witchhunt here, as though whilst I made a mistake, the amount of undue hostility and stuff people interpret into my posts is quite asonishing.

You do realise pc games allow customisable control layouts right? It's a feature not some damn mod or "customer meddling"; this feature happens to horribly break when using the Talon.

What I don't get is how the heck did this bug pass testing? How couldn't a tester see something so obvious as having your keys reset every time you use the Talon!?

Well that would be fine if the buttons for med-gel/ops/clip weren't so unfortunately placed on the default settings, at least a controller has everything neatly packed together.

And yeah I've pretty much stopped playing th Talon.

yes because a keyboard is the same as a controller right? didn't realize you had a button as far away as the 8 key is to our left hand on your controler? now don't you feel silly now for opening your mouth without thinking?

Sorry, didn't mean to be hostile. I was pretty sure that separating the one-button-to-rule-them-all infracted on the "no modding" policy, hence my inferrence of illegality. My bad.

If I'm wrong about it, though, then that's sweet. 

Still, I was looking forward to playing the Talon the most.

it is no more silly then placing flamer on the trigger for a Vorcha
and putting flamer on the triangle button on PS3

Sorry, didn't mean to be hostile. I was pretty sure that separating the one-button-to-rule-them-all infracted on the "no modding" policy, hence my inferrence of illegality. My bad.

If I'm wrong about it, though, then that's sweet.

Yeah, spacebar seperation and FOV as another example are not infracting the modding policy. In fact only those mods that change MP data are forbidden. As long as it doesn't change anything in MP, you can even mod SP to your hearts content.

Why is it "senseless"?
leave your key layout default (like consoles have to do), you can play the Talon
change your key layout, you can't play the Talon

again, at least you can play against Collectors

See, I knew that-- used gibbed a few times on my single player saves. But I wasn't aware that spacebar separation was an exception to the MP rule. Interesting.

The PC keybinds are more important because 1-8 are default for powers/equipment. Hitting those high numbers accuractely is pretty hard and inconvenient, while the D-pad is fairly simple. Plust many people (like me) are used to different keys for powers (Shift, Q, and E) and my brain would asplode trying to remember 1,2, and 3.

I play on xbox most of the time but do play on PC every now and then. I agree with Stardusk that default controls on PC are no where near as functional as default controls on consoles. I wouldnt even consider playing the talon on PC with this bug.

Yes, that does suck, but at least you have the ability to change it
couldn't you reset the keys to default to play the Talon a few games
then remap the keys to your liking when not playing the Talon?
it seems like a reasonable solution for those hellbent on playing him

Do you really need to rebind three powers when two are trash or is it the consumables etc that are screwed up as well?

I have no idea what is involved in rebinding but is it impossible to rebind his one decent power in game?

Arma series is far more complex with its engine (Real Virtuality) than the UE3 that Mass Effect 3 uses and the Bohemia team is much smaller than Bioware. Yet they still release patches at least once a week even though they perfectly know that some regressions come once in a while. They just correct the regressions next time.

With regards to multiplatform games, Valve made their decision with Team Fortress 2 to make separate patches for PC and Xbox versions because patching console games is a pain in the ass. Bioware is seriously shooting itself on the foot when it doesn't separate PC patches from console patches.
