Dear Mass Effect Team,
I hope this message finds you well.
After having played the bittersweet Citadel DLC, I just wanted to thank you for the sheer awesomeness of the trilogy that is Mass Effect. There is no other video game series I can think of that strikes the perfect balance between story, action, freedom of movement (to a degree), and in-depth characters... as well as graphics, level design, and soundtracks. There's just too much to say, and I couldn't do the series justice by listing everything that's good about it, so me and other fans on this forum will limit it to 5 items apiece. Mine are:
5. Story: many of these moments are cinematic, thought-provoking. The quarian-geth peace scene is a gleaming, shining moment... a classic. It rivals that of most magnificent movie moments I have ever seen. Legion's sacrifice to bring about quarian-geth peace was touching.
4. Action: the gameplay gradually gets better. The idea of using tech and biotic powers in a TPS adds tactical depth that is rare in RPG's and RPG shooters.
3. Vistas: science fiction, especially space operas, are renowned in televised and visual media for their stunning vistas, either of the magnificence of space, or the beauty of distant, foreign, alien worlds. Nothing quite takes your breath away like seeing the Citadel for the first time, or the stunning wildlands of Sur'Kesh.
2. Soundtrack: a few run-of-the-mill tracks here and there, but I can never get past Virmire Ride, a track that espouses that frontier spirit of humanity in the new galactic community. There are more items I can name.
1. Characters: I don't think any other point in the trilogy beats the gathering of the ME1 team, meeting Wrex and Garrus (my bros). Assembling a ragtag team of officers, bounty hunters, and scientists in the pursuit of a greater good runs as a central theme that most people can agree to. The characters are what makes this franchise great.
There are other things I can think of, but these are my top five highlights. This has been, indeed, "the best" ride I've ever been on.
Thank you.
Sincerely, saracen16
P.S. BSN posters, what are your top five highlights?
