Why are more than one class next to a specialization?  Completely defeats the purpose of this thread.  You are rather ignorant.

The point is each of those Vanguards outdoes the Phoenix at whatever thing is being mentioned, not that they are the sole specialists in it. This is pretty much indisputable—Drellguard and the Cabal are both MUCH better with weapons than any other vanguard, for example. That several vanguards are better than him at a given thing doesn't undermine any point at all.

His melee isn't bad, but it's not great either. Meanwhile, the Kroguard, Broguard, Slayer and even the Cabal all have pretty awesome melees. The Slayer and broguard's melee combos will actually outdo the biotic whip heavy melee every time. Everything a melee Phoenix does, another kit does better. His one edge, quite narrowly, is Smash. And even with that, he's struggling.

And Lash is not an advantage for him. Yes, Lash is fun, but it's not actually all that great for a Vanguard.

it's really only by a narrow margin that the Phoenix Vanguard flops though. It wouldn't take much to give him a niche all his own—either more damage for his heavy melee, or more raw power in smash would do the trick.

15 usually when he's either a Fury or Cerb Vanguard.

characters like that need some speed and unless to start taking the risk of 50% biotic charge he is just really hard to play on Platinum. Also BC+HM is too redundant.

Also you have to count in the other two randoms dying left and right cause we almost always pugged together! Just protecting my invincibility here!

Exactly, even though the Phoenix isn't a top tier in any of the mentionned categories, overall he still is much better than the Batarian and the Volus. I play him quite often on Platinum with no problem whatsoever, can't say that about the Batarian or the Volus or the Cabal (going the power route).

Well, since they nerfed Smash he is. If he could chain Smash and then Charge he would be good, but the cooldown is way too long for that so he is left completely vulnerable after Smash, which gets him killed.

I hate it when people do this! Post a screenshot showing they finished top with a crap class/gun as if it somehow proves that it is not outclassed. What is the point?

He's definitely not the worst but near the bottom. The Cabal and Protector are bad. I do like the Volus with the Batgauntlet when I'm playing with good people just for the lulz. The cabal is glitchy and gets her cherry popped easier than a Volus.

I noticed ppl hating on the Batguard...he's the best melee character in the game. Who doesn't like punching the heads off of everything.

He used to be a fantastic boss-killer. Smash-charge BEs would rip through brutes and banshees. But alas, too many players just spammed smash thoughtlessly, so the cooldown is now been enrfed so that even at +200% you just can't afford to be close to an enemy long enough to combo that way.

AoE heavy melee
Smash
Human dodge
light melee that tracks well AND stuns

I'm not getting the "disadvantage: Phoenix" argument here.

Yeah, it's a weak class. I can top scoreboards with him but he's not as good as the other vanguards, some of whom outclass him by a large margin. I'd increase his base hp/shields, at the very minimum. Adding DR to his abilities may require a patch, in which case I'd like to see their damage increased substantially.

I'd like to add that the Cabal, being a turian, has some of the best weapon passives in the game and arguably the best dodge. She's nigh unkillable and with a shotgun can mow down bosses and mooks alike with the best of them.

The Cabel is not bad. With the right specs you can solo platinum.
