After conclusive and long testing the Phoenix out-played the Volus and every Vanguard apart from the Kroguard by a country mile. Maybe I play better with it I don't know, although I can say with certaintity, he isn't the worst vanguard.

Volus...I love the phoenix, under the right conditions (no lag) he can take care of dragoons,phantoms and cerb turrets with ease. I used to love the slayer, but all i see folks do with him is his palm blaster (boring) but it's so much fun to Biotic Charge a group of enemies and heavy melee all of them (knock them down), dodge, shoot and smash the heck out of them. He's the most enjoyable vanguard.

Your statement that half the Vanguards in the game need a good weapon to shine is ludicrous. You're either just that new to multiplayer or are a very poor troll. Either way I'm not indulging.

Im not either, Lol a Batguard/Kroguard/Volguard power build is very bad compared to their weapon builds.

I spent a good amount of time playing her as a weapons platform.  And found it quite satisfying.  Yes, when host she can be a ferocious melee char, yet off-host I found it highly effective to shoot all the things, reserving melee for imprudent mobs.  Nobody enjoys aggressive melee play when sheild recharge magic routinely doesn't work.
