I was thinking of getting Loghain as a companion but I don't want to do so late in the game. So I wanna know how soon after The Urn of Sacred Ashes main mission can I call for a Landsmeet and how far I can take Loghain before doind the final mission (like can I take him on A Paragon of Her Kind and/or Nature of the Beast or it'll just go straight into the final mission).

Any advice would be welcomed.

You can't. Loghain is only able to be recruited after the Landsmeet. Originally, Bioware intended for you to be able to recruit him earlier in the game but they eventually got rid of that idea.

So basically I can't call for the Landsmeet (so I can recuit Loghain) earlier than intended and must there for do Paragon and Nature,

I don't like Logain and always kill him. You can only use him in the last battle if you spare him.

Correct. You must recruit all the treaty quests before Eamon can call the Landsmeet, where you then recruit Loghain.

But you can take him on the assorted side quests, and he has particular dialogue for the Return to Ostagar DLC.

Thank you. I'm disappointed but thank you nonetheless.

Keep some side quests till the end so you can do it with him, that's what I do.

Pretty much. And he also has some nice bits of dialogue during the Soldier's Peak quest, if you haven't done that yet.

Does that explain why Morrigan says you should go right after Loghain when you ask her opinion?

I always saw that as just a reflection of Morrigan's character: practical and to the point. Go after the man with the power to impede you, and he won't impede you.

That being said, yes, originally the Landsmeet was intended to only need Eamon to wake up before it was called (and not required the three main quests to be completed). And there was even a subplot that Cailan was going to divorce Anora and marry Celene (more than just the hint of it in the ntoes at Ostagar in the DLC). Heck, in the earliest versions, Celene was supposed to be in Denerim and/or Ferelden somehow. Ah, for what might have been...

Thank goodness that never happened, because I would have mostly likely had Loghain killed on the account of being stupid.

Pretty much this, though I stopped doing it because it was totally immersion breaking.

I wish they would've kept this.  Hit RedCliffe, save Eamon, staright to Landsmeet.  Defeat Loghain, recruit him (keeping Alistair in party as originally intended), then go gather the army.  That order of events would have been NOT immersion breaking and you could develop the character.

My advice - Loghain is a weak character if you remove his gear.  Lots of people try to put him in Teir 7 gear not realizing that the strength and willpower buffs he gets from his own armor and shield are what makes him effective.  Max his friendship and equip him with a good sword and two Ring of the Warrior and I honestly find him to be more effective than Alistair.  Oh, and I tend to give him berzerker as his 2nd specialization.  I never use it, but it's another strength bonus.  Or I use a Tome of Physical Attribute and go Templar - the tome is to reach "smite" on the skill tree.
