It seems that Citadel was originaly intended to( and I am going to pretend it still does) take place after the Reaper war

Must say, I'm at peace with the EC endings plus the Citadel DLC. My Shepard simply survives (picked Destruction) and will see another party a few months after the war and when he recovered from his wounds. Obviously, his Apartment is not in shape for a party, but there are other places to celebrate, right?
EDI? Survived. She shut down herself while the flight, that caused the navigation systems to overload and the Normandy emergency-landed on that planet. Although EDI's AI got damaged (especially the Reaper parts), Tali, Liara, Adams and his team were able to reactivate her. Thanks to the development of her own programming EDI had in the past couple of months, she was able to fix most of the damage on her own.
Geth? The Geth involved in the Earth battle got destroyed for good. But they were able to send a warning via FTL / quantum communication to the rest of the Geth in the galaxy, so they were able to store their programs in save memory devices and shut down. Maybe some enclaves not hit by that shockwave survived on their own, but the majority of the Geth ended in that "hybernation state". It were Quarians who reactivated the first Geth once more.
Seriously - something like that. I don't need to do an asspull or something, I just use the lore and what we know about tech in our favorite universe. Destruction: Geth are still around and so is EDI. The Reapers are gone (well, maybe some survived as well, but left without a trace) and the galaxy needs to be rebuilt.
End of story.

yep...
We had just a citadel coup and this DLC taking the place on Citadel in Mass Effect 3, but in context with project Lazarus it makes actually sense, that some fundamental part of Cerberus tried to took power over the Shepard as much taking power over the whole Cerberus.

I admire your headcanon prowess, but how do you get around EDI being on the memorial wall?

Besides that - EDI isn't functional at that point and the crew may believe she's dead. After all, the memorial scene seems to happen -before- the Normandy returns to Earth and reactivating a sophisticated AI like EDI isn't just a push on a button.
So it may take several months until EDI is back online. I also didn't say the Geth come back within a few days. Time heals all wounds and everything can be rebuilt - that's what Hackett said, right? I did it. And I have no degree in writing stories or so. ^^

I think Citadel DLC is designed to act as further cushion to the blow of the atrocious trainwreck of an ending.
Ironically enough, it makes the endings that much harder to bear.
I don't believe that Citadel was meant to be post-ending. However I can see where people are coming from in interpreting that, and I support them.
I'm not going to headcanon this as post-ending, but I will headcanon another reunion after the war in Shepard''s apartment (which survives).

I think it ment a certain mission on the Citadel, not necceserily the Citadel DLC mission

Sheepie Crusher wrote...So yeah, that's enough for me to pretend that Citadel is happening after the ending.
It would make a hell of a lot more sense than this conversation:
Traynor: "Sir, we've discovered the location of the secret Cerberus base where the enemy surely took the critical intel needed to save the galaxy!"
Shepard: "Hold that thought Traynor, Anderson's lending me his pad for some shore leave on the Citadel. Who's with me?? Hell yeah."
Again, would make a hell of a lot more sense than them actually thinking this would fit nicely into the overall narrative.Sheepie Crusher wrote...CONSPIRACY THEORY: the team really wanted this DLC to be the epilogue but Hudson and Walters protested that it would damage their... eh, integrity, so the team made it so that people like me could pretend that this is really the epilogue

This *could* have very easily been a post Reaper war DLC. Cept then, it would invalidate both Control and Systhesis.
Works for me.
;-)
Actually, with MEHEM, it makes a lot of damn sense. Minus Anderson's into of course.
The Back to the Normandy group photo would have been the perfect send off, the ending without ceremony that some people wanted, and it would fit well into the Narrative too.
I'll head cannon this as the "real ending", where after the war, the Heroes of the Normandy are reunited and came back together one last time to say farewell to each other.

How many mission we got in ME3 at the Citadel? Citadel coup and Citadel DLC and also Leviathan DLC, while Starchild wasn´t planned back in ME2 it makes doubts if the Leviathan was even planned back in ME2.
Citadel coup is part of ME3 narrative so what´s remains is the Citadel DLC, what´s left for ME3 on Citadel is bunch of little tasks and also character interaction and that´s bit out of place when it took such an importance that Walters decide to mentioned it in interview, unless ofc if there was much more then just a supposed Citadel DLC which should take a place on Citadel.

Oh, almost certainly.
I also suspect this might be a final olive branch to those who think they totally screwed up the endings. I mean, one could theoretically play through Sanctuary, throw the huge poarty, then walk away without ever finishing the game, ending it on a high note.
Alternatively, you can skip the party, play through till the end, then activate the party when the game bounces oyu back to pre-Cronos and pretend it's a victory celebration.
Of course, I will not forget that lump of Anderfel cheese ("It tastes of despair!") that is the ending.
