Fixing Talon Mercenary Engineer Keybindings on PC without modifying the Coalesced.bin file:

Step 1:

Download and Install VJoy Virtual Joystick Driver v1.2 from:

Step 2:

Run VJoy, Check Enabled Box, Check Launch on Startup Box (Optional), For Buttons 1, 2, 3 & 4 select the keys you use for Cobra Missile Launcher, Ops Survival Pack, Medi-Gel & Thermal Clip Pack respectively. I use Q, E, C, Z respectively for example. Press OK

Step 3:

Download and Run Xpadder:

Note: If you get Unsupported Windows version detected error, set compatibility mode to Windows Vista (Service Pack 2)

Step 3:

Click "New" to create layout, select the buttons tab and press the buttons 1, 2, 3 & 4 respectively that we created using VJoy (For example Q, E, C, Z) and close the window.

Step 4:

Assign the Buttons 1, 2, 3 & 4 of the VJoy Virtual Joystick to 5, 6, 7 & 8 on the Keyboard. Save the Layout and Profile. Minimise Xpadder.

Step 5:

In game set Key Bindings to default.

Step 6:

Enjoy The Talon Mercenary Engineer and all other characters.

Note: This does not fix the Thermal Clip Pack Bug for The Talon Mercenary Engineer

Step 7:

To revert the keyboard buttons to their default keys just close Xpadder from the Taskbar.

Cyonan's Talon Mercenary Engineer Thermal Clip Fix:

Go into bioinput.ini/sfxgamemodebase/bindings and add this line to the bottom:

( Name="TCP_Fix", Command="CastPower 10" )

Go into bioinput.ini/sfxgamemodedefault/bindings and add this line:

( Name="Eight", Command="TCP_Fix" )

Replace "Eight" with whatever you want the key to be.

Doesnot cause Thermal Clip Packs to show up on the hotbar for the Talon Merc, however hitting the button will consume one until you run out for the mission.

Still works on all other characters.

gave it a go, and.... it adds an unwanted delay on the actions from time to time, ill rather keep my gimped controlls and wait for a proper fix from BW.

After testing this all day I have found no delay at all, please do not spread wrong information. This works exactly as if the keys were binded in the game. No need to tamper with ingame files and risk messing something else up.

What are you running it on, i am currently specced with; win 7 ultimate, 4gigs of ram, underclocked to 1033mhz and E7300 for a processor, XfX GTX 285 XXX edition.

and for the record, if telling my own experience with it is "wrong information" you should learn what this thing called "feedback" means. I am not sure what is causing it, might be just win7 throwing me a tantrum, but it is like playing on a server with 100ms higher ping than your used to. Barely noticable, but annoying on the long run.

Also, is this clarification for my feedback going to be misslabeled as "wrong information" again?

Fixing it would require them a patch which is not going to happen as support has ended

Requires a patch. If you want a fix that doesn't use a 3rd party program, require opening and closing it around using a character, and has no risk of adding input lag, I finally got around to writing up the coalesced fix in my siggy <.<

shameless bump to ask for clarifications...

i left me3 a while ago (just after retaliation got live) and got back to an already ended EA/BW support, so i kind of missed a lot of discussions on not working evolutions and bugged mechanics, trying to catch up tho

i am not really sure what the keybinding issue on the talon mercerary is about... is thermal clip refill not working? havent tried it yet. the only thing i noticed is this guy uses the defaul melee key (F) for melee instead of my selected one, no matter what!!... is the coalesced workaround going to help in this regard? otherwise how do i fix the melee keybinding, if at all?

If you are using custom keybindings and play with talon mercenary on PC, they automatically reset to defaults. Also Thermal Clips dont work when playing with him. These are 2 fixes I use to fix these 2 annoying bugs.

I went ahead and discovered it myself so If anyone else needs it, it's ThumbMouseButton and ThumbMouseButton2

Sorry to sound idiotic but what exactly is the issue with the Talon Mercenary?

Custom keybindings reset whenever you play him.
Also, thermal clip packs become unusable in certain circumstances.
