I currently have an Infiltrator Shepard, But want to redo the girl as a Vanguard, keeping the Choices and Name, without redoing the trilogy.

Which one should I do, that fits the story and all DLCs, and how would I Rationalize, to my self, how Shepard was an Infiltrator in the first two but a vanguard in the third?

Just stay infiltrator. If you're going to do vanguard do a whole trilogy run from the start since its interesting how the class evolves from each game.

I did a vanguard before, and as I said, I really do not want to start over just to do a new character, since I plan to do the same choices in the first two games anyways.

it does seem to import the choices only, not the Shepard, except gender.

Unless you are sick of the Infiltrator (or hate the Infiltrator for some reason), I recommend sticking with the Infiltrator.

If you want to switch to Vanguard and want to rationalize it, here are some options (pick one or more as you see fit):
1) Secondary Eezo exposure between ME2 and ME3.
2) During the events prior to ME3, Shepard was a biotic, but:
  a) She was taking medication that had affected her biotics, so she went the tech route.
  B) She was actually a Sentinel but focused all her talents on her tech skills.
  c) She is a cocky [insert derogatory noun here], and decided to fight with fight without any of her biotic skills, just to prove that she is the best soldier in galaxy. Essentially, she fought with "one biotic hand tied behind her back".
  d) She had L2 biotic implants and had them removed in an expensive and very risky surgery. She then received new implants after returning to Earth.
  e) She hid/refused to use her biotic talents openly for years, afraid of the ridicule and fear from others, and/or she was afraid that she might hurt people close to her if she was unable to control her biotics.
3) Space magic?

I like both, but Vanguard Sounds more fun. I think the whole, hiding and Sniping heads thing is kinda getting stale.

plus 2e sound good to me.

You can equip a shotgun or something and be creative if you're getting tired of cloak sniping (ya it does get old). Unless you seen everything from ME3 MP.

as I said, I played a vanguard before, so I know how it evolves from ME 1 all the way through to ME 3. The thing is, I believe I could see it as Shepard was a vanguard the whole series, and the class just did not import.

I understood your first post, but shotgun with Infiltrator makes no sense.

Shotgun on an Infiltrator makes perfect sense. I've been running a cqc Infiltrator since ME1.

maybe to you, but not to me. Besides, the whole hiding and sniping thing, better left to Kasumi.

May try Vanguard with the whole "decided not to use her biotics and get implanted with L5n implants and decided to try them in ME 3" rationale.

Shotgun Infiltrators have been a popular option since ME2. Tactical Cloak provides unparallelled battlefield mobility, allowing you to flank enemies undetected and get close enough for shotgun or melee kills without taking the heavy fire that the distinctly unsubtle Vanguards do, with a built-in exit strategy in case you get surrounded (something Vanguards lack if there isn't a convenient enemy to charge outside the killzone).

which is usually why I use a Assault Rifle with Vanguard.

Shotgun Infiltrators, as said above, are extremely effective and fun to use. Try using it with a Claymore with maxed damage output to one shot things.

This discussion is all over the place.

If you want to play Vanguard, just import your Infiltrator, switch to Vanguard at import and pretend Shep was one all along. Don't overthink it, just retcon it.

Next up is the Shotgun infiltrator. Since Insanity has 100% shieldgate, unless you are using something like the Black Widow, the shotguns are arguably better anyway. They fire multiple pellets to get around the gate. Accuracy isn't a big issue, since the maps are mostly small and Tactical Cloaks damage bonus will naturally improve their effective range.

As for the role infiltrators and their weapons, they are assassins and if they have to get close to a target, they have Tac Cloak. For infiltrating. If you don't like the shotgun, you can use an SMG or an Assault rifle. Or a Pistol. It doesn't matter, infiltrators are good with any weapon really.

But the most important thing is simply what you want to play. Since that seems to be Vanguard, just load one up. What class the rest of us want to play is largely irrelevant. :)

You know what else is a fun build? Infiltrator with Lash or Flare. While I didn't really love Mass Effect: Infiltrator, I did enjoy Randall Enzo's stealth/biotic mix.

Of course, the toughest problem I have with playing as an infiltrator is its weird looking heavy melee. To me, it doesn't really fit the playstyle.
