Come on guys keep this civil or else I will start reporting. This place is looking to be worse than something awful boards. Where are the moderators to keep this place clean? I've posted on bioware boards long ago and they would immediately step in and sanitize the place and get rid of trolls. I'm a firmly Bioware supporter in every way, don't get me wrong, however what I'm seeing in here is an awfully hostile place overrun by trolls.

STAY ON TOPIC GUYS THIS IS IMPORTANT, Bioware deserves better from us.

Really, I think that main villains for RPGs lack

a certain nuance nowadays. It used to be that game developers were more

creative in their design. Now it seems we get the same "evil destroyer" (Malak)

or "misguided good guy" (Kreia) in every game. What happened to games that were

for real gamers, who could appreciate nuanced plots? Every game has the same battle between

evil and good. I really wish that Bioware would make a game for someone with a nuanced sense of

right and wrong.

I'm not the one making the games though.

Someone has to step up to the plate.

Anyone?

Forget it, it's useless trying to find

aspiring game developers on an internet forum. Hopefully someone will make a

game that I want to play though. :(

If you get worked up over someone else not having a life, what do you have then?

I'm really surprised how little mention of Jade Empire has gotten into this...

My beef with Kreia is that while superbly nuanced and an intruiging character, she just doesn't FEEL like a villain to me. Her turn from leery ally to final boss was... blah. It was more "as I thought... now let us finish this" than "WTF? You... YOU ****!"

...unlike Jade Empire.

Bioware should hire me... I mean, damn one of the writers has a philosophy degree and I'm studying philosophy, in 3 more years I'm going to apply as a writer for Bioware (?) hahahah

KotOR for example was a completely childish experience. Characters like Carth Ohcrying were downright annoying with his constant mistrust on everything and everyone. The main character had saved his ass several times and being by his side all along but still he couldn't change his tone throughout the game. Besides, the whole "You should talk to character X now" used on KotOR was completely dumb. Obsidian improve on this greatly with an influence system, where it was possible to advance with your party if and only if you're somewhat aligned to their personalities, unlike the bioware system of "unlocking" pieces of each one's story as you advance, regardless of how you behaved.

[/quote]
You totally could influence your party members. Unless of course it got stuck into an ifinite repeating loop where the NPC would repeat the same things over and over.

David Gaider.

...Look, I played PS:T. Spoilers for that below.

Ravel. Villain, right? ........not... really. I was sad when she died. Brilliantly done.

Trias the Betrayer. Expectation whiplash FTW.

The Transcendent One. The Practical Incarnation. As much as you hated either... THEY WERE PART OF YOU. But I have never hated villains more. I have never wanted to defeat a villain more.

Uhm... Sun Li was truly not evil. He's beyond good and evil, he ensures a stable Jade Empire, that's why i always pick the sacrifice ending. Bioware is far more than capable of introducing innovative villians, Sun Li and probably Loghain are very good examples.

Seriously? One post earlier someone just spoke of some of the greatest villains in CRPG history (Ravel, Trias, The Practical Incarnation) and then you mention Sun Li? He may have been "morally ambigious", but that is also the most praise one can give him. He was boring and forgettable, and I don't understand, and wont ever, how Bioware are continously praised for their writing when it's TRIPE!

No, they weren't. Unless youa re willing to give Atari credit for MOTB as well.

BIS was just the publisher for the Bg series. That's it, that's all. They did what publishers are supposed to do. Publish the game, over see progress, and give their opinions on stuff, but the Bg series - the good and the bad - is on BIO.

I propose Volourn as the main villan, or at least an important sub-commander.

Acording to some, games are too dumbed down nowadays to have a truly undefeatable enemy which means I won't be a boss in any game.

P.S. Ravel was an awesome villain. kreia is an overrated, one dimesnional, obvious villain. Let us not comapre the two. It's embarassing. Sun Li was a solid villain. Better than kreia easily but nowhere near Ravel's level - though arguably Ravel isn't technically a villain in the truest sense of the word.
