Might be a little soon for this since the DLC just came out, but I'm a little torn. I've found the Harrier to be one of the most effective weapons in the history of this series, but the Lancer has some nice advantages.

Opinions?

Lancer is the best gun in the entire game. There is absolutely no contest.

What makes it superior?

Significantly lighter, better handling and sustained fired, unlimited ammo, better SFX, nostalgia value, and having sexual appeal in its design.

So it has less kickback than the Harrier?

They are fairly similar in recoil.

It has less accuracy and damage than the Harrier.  My pick is Harrier for damage classes and Lancer for power users.

As an Infiltrator packing a Javelin, I've never been able to justify carrying an assault rifle, as they are all pretty heavy and I can slap some Cryo ammo on an N7 Eagle for my full-auto needs, or pack a Disciple for when things get too close for sniping.

But I've absolutely fallen in love with the Lancer. It's extremely light once upgraded, and if you throw on a stability and extended magazine upgrade, it becomes a thing of beauty.

The main flaw of the Harrier is the low ammo, which even with Extended Magazine mod still forces you to constant trips at ammo boxes.  Like capn233´ said, Harrier with weapon damage based classes and Lancer with power damage based classes.

I like them both a lot. But as stated, the Harrier has a low ammo capacity.

Lancer. It's like they took the harrier, gave it unlimited ammo, a higher ammo reserve, and an awesome avenger look.

How does the revamped Mattock compare to the Harrier now anyway? Since the rebalance I've found it to be equally as good if not better in being less wasteful of ammo.

Lancer looks nice. Still wish they'd made a HMWA Advanced Assault Rifle version of the Vindicator model.

You can't fire the Mattock as accurately as the Harrier while putting out similar DPS. You can get somewhat close in cover only (partly because Harrier's recoil is backwards and it kicks more in cover), but out of cover the Harrier is so much more accurate that the choice between the two should be fairly easy, unless you don't have the Harrier at all.

The Lancer is a superior assault rifle in the hands of classes that can't afford the weight penalty. If you can afford the weight penalty, then the Harrier is better.

Harrier hands down. Love the look, love the sound, love the damage. Ammos not a big issue when it deals so much damage.

In SP it honestly doesn't matter what the stats are, SP is easy enough as it is just go with what you like best. Before the harrier came out I used to run through the whole game with an avenger (even though Mattock was still the best looking, I can't stand semi-auto ARs)

I honestly run through the game with the Avenger. It looks and sounds great, and it provides consistency across both gameplay and cutscenes. :wizard:

Fair enough man. Like I said I used to do the same. If Harrier did low damage, I'd still use it just for its look and sound. The damage is just a plus ;)

Lancer. Its like they combined the best of the Harrier and the PPR into one neat Avenger sized package.

From what I have seen so far I am inclined to agree that the Lancer is far superior to the Harrier. However, I have been pretty satisfied with the Typhoon. It may not have unlimited ammo but it does have a huge ammo supply and it can shred shields and armor like butter. Same can be said for the Lancer though.

Biggest thing for me is that the Typhoon can turn Guardian shields into swiss cheese. So I am undecided.
