No, they're actually pretty comparable, both in terms of DRM screwups and in terms of actual quality gameplay.
But, since one is Blizzard and the other is EA, one will be forgiven while the other is decried as the worst thing ever.
I doubt it, Diablo III did get a lot of hate and I don't think they'll forget that anytime soon especially since people waited for it a long time. EA may be hated by a lot of people but this won't overshadow the mess that Blizzard did.

Are the problems rooted to this Origin then?
No it's routed to not having enough servers available to handle the demand.

When you think you have finally had enough servers to handle the load on the launch day flawlessly, double them.

Then maybe the game shouldn't require a CONSTANT ONLINE CONNECTION IF THEY DON'T HAVE THE SERVERS NEEDED. Jesus christ did they somehow completely miss what happened with Diablo 3?

Or maybe EA should stop trying to expect small investments to turn out big profits. That's my theory as to why their stuff never works and it makes sense at least to me, it sort of explains the mess that Origin is. I don't know what is it with EA sometimes, they enforce idiotic DRM and but the servers don't work at all, its like they intentionally want to ****** off the customers.

No way have they learned their lesson. Consumers warned and warned. An interesting dynamic to this is also the pull the franchise has to the more casual markets. SimCity appeals to lots of people, but a lot of casual gamers as well. They are getting a nice strong taste of "the future".
I don't feel sorry for EA at all...its pretty funny actually. Online to play singleplayer games. It's their own fault

I don't know where's the "business" in that, how they have survived is a mystery to me. Probably because they have a monopoly with the NFL and because of FIFA.

Are you old enough to remember the early 1990s of PC gaming? Because EA has been ****ing screwing developers over since the days of origin and bullfrog. They have a huge graveyard of developers in their name and that is why they are decried as the worst thing ever.

Have you seen the city size? Lots of people disappointed about being forced to play a tiny little rectangle city barely even 12 city blocks of space.Legatus Arianus wrote...
So everyone has been whining about the Online part. Is anyone dissatisfied by the game itself?

Anyone who bought the game but is complaining should really...be quiet. You knew, don't complain about it.
Some of us DIDN'T buy for that very reason. Though I certainly wanted to.

I loled so hard when I saw Amazon and Metacritic ratings. Especially Amazon ones. Knowing EA, I expect them to blame pirates and "vocal minorities" for 1 star ratings.
You must be confusing EA with Ubisoft.

I despise always online, but this game should have been designed as an online game, not a Single Player game with Always Online DRM. It's name should have been SimCity Online. Because being online is an integral part of the experience, not just a way to police for online (although I'm sure that was the original driving factor behind the game).
Oh well. Another one bites the dust.

While that's why I didn't buy, I think people not being able to log in is a legitimate complaint. I also think features being disabled because of the inability for the servers to handle the load is also a legitimate complaint. I also think people may have felt the multiplayer component was optional. I am old enough to remember on-line multiplayer being a feature of some games that could be played multiplayer -- not an absolute requirement (Diablo 2 comes to mind).
As an aside, I miss lan parties
ETA: What would have been cool is if there was both an on line and an off line mode. The offline mode could have larger cities, mod support, etc., while the online mode could have the interdependancy and such.
