Been wondering for a while and haven't found out conlusively for myself. Would appreciate any impressions you all have.

1. Does Dark Sphere have to come in direct contact with an enemy to deal damage over time, or simply be near them?

2. If an enemy has already been primed by it, will DoT stop working if an enemy puts enough distance between themself and DS?

3.Are enemies hit by the detonation of DS be affected by DoT if they weren't already?

1. DS simply has to pass by them.

2. No.

3. To my knowledge, yes.

To question #1 No you don't have to hit them with the DS to prime them they just have to be in the stated radius.
To question #2 No the DoT will keep going for the stated duration.
To question #3 Thats hard to do because the detonation radius and prime radius are the same.

1) I think they either have to have it pass by them or be in the detonation radius when it goes off.

2) I think it lasts the whole duration regardless.

3) Yes

These are my observations playing him anyway.

1. probably anything in radius (9 meters with both radius evolutions)
2. probably not (walk away or detonate DS - DOT goes for the duration )
3. Probably can't ever happen ? Detonation range = dot priming range

And some test numbers

Collector boy
% passive WD 5%
% passive PD 20%
Ascension stance (+10 % ALL additive damage, +15% MD)
% collector/prothean 5%

DS 1000* (1+0.2) detonation + 250 * (1+0.15) 5 sec dot

-------------

DS DOT
467ms | ravager armour damage: 33.750000
477ms | ravager armour damage: 33.750000
...
474ms | ravager armour damage: 33.750000
288ms | ravager armour damage: 1400.000000 //detonate
169ms | ravager armour damage: 33.750000
446ms | ravager armour damage: 33.750000

(250 * (1 + 0.15 + 0.2)) / 10 = 33.75 // dot tick
1000 * (1 + 0.2 + 0.2) = 1400 // detonation damage

Repeat in super saiyan mode (10% additive)
56478ms | ravager armour damage: 36.250000
448ms | ravager armour damage: 36.250000
456ms | ravager armour damage: 36.250000
315ms | ravager armour damage: 1500.000000 // +10% additive
143ms | ravager armour damage: 36.250000

(250 * (1 + 0.15 + 0.2 + 0.1)) / 10 = 36.25
1000 * (1 + 0.2 + 0.2 + 0.1) = 1500

sad that the dot is so weak when description says it should be 500-700 dmg per second

it was  weak in the test because in the test I had only 3 points in DS and 20% power damage from passive bonuses ...

Maxed out it can probably exceed (250 * (1 + 0.65 + 0.5 + 0.7 + 0.3 + 0.15 + 0.2)) / 5 = 175 /second ... .Not that impressive ...If you want damage from DS you need to detonate it ...

It's not per second DoT. The value in the window is the total DoT divided by the DoT duration. Misleading, yes, but DS would be broken with that much DPS... :)

They display total cumulated DOT damage ...  For DPS you need to take that value and divide it by DOT duration  (5 seconds) ...
