I'll still buy Awakening because I can still enjoy the core game despite this issue, but really I shouldn't have to exit my game every couple of hours and reload it just because the loading screens take forever. Would be nice to play a BioWare game for once without it having some sort of error, maybe they should spend more time testing their games before rushing them out and hoping to fix them later.

BioWare have lost a lot of respect from me not going out with an official statement that this is a bug they will/will not fix. Since they are silent I assume that they won't fix this in Awakening either. Hope I'm wrong.

This PC version of Dragon Age has had major problems with loading faults etc, and has, up to now had no feedback from either Bioware or EA. No one knows if this issue will be fixed either before or after the "Awakening". - It is not just Dragon Age although DA has more than enough issues, more and more PC games are slowly becoming harder to get to play, a patch for this, a patch for that: do you have the right GFX card? do you have a top notch processor? do you have this? do you have that? it has become a minefield.
Is it any wonder that Bioware hasn't answered the questions, they just don't know, or can't be arsed with PC people. The PC as a Gaming medium is slowly becoming a nightmare for game devs and owners. Has the PC as a gaming platform, seen it's last sunrise? I personally think it has.
This however doesn't excuse Bioware for their non involvement in these forums.

If you really think about it, game developers would really like to see the PC for games die a death. It is becoming increasingly harder to actually get a game to run for a PC. In fact PC gaming is slowly becoming a "dead parrot". I have recently bought a PS3 due to the fact that I am so fed up with the PC game roundabout, that is owning a PC now takes all the fun out of gaming.

First my specs:
AMD Phenom 9950
8800GT
Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit
4 gigs of ram. (3.2 usable)
I'm not sure exactly what individual procedure fixed it for me, but this is what I did:
1. Installed .Net Framework 4 beta 2
2. Installed and ran TLB Disable -- This is for Phenom processors. Apparently in Windows Vista and 7 there's a patch that conflicts with this processor, which hinders performance. TLB Disable disables that patch.
3. I just decided to try this on a whim: Ran the game in compatibility mode for Windows XP SP3 and changed the privilage level to Administrator. This is what finally fixed it for me. What a stroke of luck.
Hopefully this will fix it for all of you. I've been playing the game for 3 hours now with no slowdowns at all.

4.0 Gig ram
Radeon ATI 4850 video
Microsoft home XP sp3
My loading times at e different locations have hit the forever button. game freezing on certain loading sequences after 1.02 patch? - had to patch to download DLC, did all of the DLC but now having issues with entering harromonts's estate, the werewolf lair, or the Quarian bandit camp - starts loading and then hangs - thought it might have been the memory leak issue - - but after 5 hours still hung - won't close (have to restart the computer) tried running in windowed mode - no such luck, cleared the tmp files, cleared out the mods and retried - nothing, forceloaded without the mods - nothing makes a difference - have already played through the game, but would like to play this character to the end for awakenings. - Any suggestions?

my solution is so simple.. save and then shut the game down restart game and everything will be fine. i have noticed that it happens after you have been playing non-stop for about 4+ hours.

That's not really a solution. Thats pro tempore, a solution would eliminate the problem, you're just treating the symptoms not the underlying condition.

L0n3w0lf1971:Realise my friend that while for you this may happen after 4+ hours..for some others it happens every 20 minutes. So thats not really a solution, the problem still exists and it must be solved.Personally i did not have any problem like that with any of the BG games.
Just on board with this. It's not a heat issue on my end, my case is clean enough to eat (something very dry hopefully) off of it.

i have no prolems with the game (or any game for that matter) other than this loading 1. and i have no heating problems i can have my pc on for weeks and its dosnt even get warm (120mm rear fan, 2 80mm front fans, and 80mm top fan)
The only real reason for dust affecting your rig (minus some weird shorting) is if it's hindering air circulation, or acting as a thermal insulator. It may increase resistance to some components but that isn't affected by longer or shorter run times, it's a problem that is constant, which this thread is obviously not dealing with. (As a slight aside, most people forget that the component resistance is also constantly varying with temperature i.e. a thermistor which means that both effects can be directly tied to increasing temperature.)
If cleaning the dust fixed the problem for you, it was indeed a heating problem. Regardless of your PC running fine for extended periods under normal load, the game taxed it enough for it to become an issue.
