If they have fixed it then I will show appreciation for it, however, it's not entirely difficult to still expect some users to say things like "too little too late" since really, the game should have shipped without this issue in the first place.

I haven't tested it yet, and it's too late for me to play DA for an hour or so now, so will maybe try tomorrow... although I'm expecting Final Fantasy XIII then so...

I'll have to play a little bit tonight to test the patch out. Thanks so much for letting us know that at least you're still working on it, BioWare. It's appreciated.

Same problem. Each time I reload the game it gets worse. Its 10 seconds or so when I start playing, and a few hours later its up to a minute or 2. I have a solid state hard drive, so a minute load time is incredibly long.

Please note the patch notes say "major cause" which means other reasons still may exist and your mileage may vary.

I read the link someone posted - it says the patch will be automatically downloaded when my steam client is updated. I don't have a steam client. How do I manually install this patch (or get a steam client). I didn't buy the game over steam. I have a hard copy from Walmart. I'm not seeing any patch other than the 1.02, which i have

Edit: nvm, it just appeared.  patch 1.03.  Thank you bioware.

After playing for a solid hour, I've found that there is definitely an improvement. While I can't say this will last for hours upon hours of play, I did not notice my load times growing any longer and there are fewer stutters while playing (such as when the game loads conversation options or opens the inventory). This is a major game-changer for me, and you have at least my thanks for, if not totally eliminating, then at least going a long way towards routing this annoying bug.

I tested it for 30 minutes just now. It seems to be better.

Loadtimes are almost instant, just like it was during my first two playthroughs. FPS-lag is non-existant (all settings maxed including AA). The inventory/dialogue-lag is also almost gone. Will test it with longer sessions later.

System:

Phenom II 965 4.0ghz (oc)

8 gb ram

radeon hd5870

win 7 pro 64b

Before patch 1.03, I had 5-10 min load times. Now I have 10 second load times. This patch fixed the lag problem for me 100%. Thanks Bioware!

Also, make sure that you don't use the same old shortcut for your Dragon Age game after you patch. Go into your Dragon age folder and find the new 1.03 Dragon Age launcher and make a new shortcut with that. Or you'll still be loading the 1.02 even if you downloaded and installed 1.03.

Oh, is this real, we should create a new shortcut? I didnt know it didn't update itself.

The Patch should overwrite all the relevent files, including the launcher and the daorigins.exe, nothing of 1.02 should be left to launch unless you have two seperate installations.

Which new launcher? I can't find a new one in my DA folder?
And what influence should it have on gameplay? It executes the game, nothing more.

my DAOriginsLauncher still loads 1.1.0.14, I've tested it. If you right click it and go under properties>details, it tells you what version it is. If I go under bin_ship and right click daorigins in that folder, It will say 1.3.11253.0, this is what I make my new shortcut from. I did download the game from EA so it might be different from store baught copies.

That is because the patch didn't update DAOriginsLauncher.exe. That is just the little app that brings up the initial screen where you can select Play, Configure, Uninstall, etc... If you click on play it "launches" DAOrigins.exe, whatever version is in the bin_ship folder. That's why its called the launcher.
