Funny, the load times bug made me not order Awakening (problems cropped up again for me) until they patched it. Now the patch is out and I don't really want to order it.

A friend of mine has similar machine to mine. Played DAO and experienced the same problems with 1.03 as I had described. He forced himself to buy the expansion and he found it no better in terms of performance ( as it was expected ). So the answer is no. The problem remains even with Awakening.

Best regards, M4ksiu.

"After recent technical evaluation of The Witcher: Rise of The White Wolf, CD Projekt RED has decided to suspend development of the project. This decision was made because the company saw a high risk that the final product will not meet the quality expectations of CD Projekt RED. We have already started to look for other possible solutions to address this situation.

A comment from Adam Kiciński, CEO of CD Projekt RED:
“This decision was one of the hardest we’ve ever had to make as a company. We have put our hearts, a lot of our time and energy into this project. Because of that, development was in a very advanced stage. However, there was serious danger that we would miss our target release date, but more importantly to us, that the project would not meet our own expectations of quality. Our main goal is always to make every release better than the previous one. Unfortunately, this project was not going in the right direction. We are now looking into all possible scenarios, and we will do all we can to retain our fans’ confidence in us. We simply will not let them down; the quality of our games remains the highest priority.”

This is how it should be done, well done Projekt RED. They have not just released any old rubbish, to coin in the dollars. When EA/BIOWARE beta tested Dragon Age on the PC (don't know about other platforms) they must have known that it had major problems. That in itself isn't really a problem, we all know that trying to get a game to play on a PC is a challenge, but what is a problem is the poor response by EA/ Bioware in these forums. Do they owe us a response? damn right, but it seems they don't promote a customer first mentality. Come on Bioware, get it in gear..let Us know what is happening.

Another thing you really need to return to your NWN era.....Ferelden is well...bollocks, you know it, and every one who likes RPG,s knows it .................it really isn't the Forgotten Realms is it?...

The most unplayable part of the low fps is in the final battle at Denerim that one is the worst by far.

DemonicArc said everything all the customers must be thinking right now.

Sambuka all of this is the consequence of Bioware being part of EA. I can be mistaken but the NWN era it was just Bioware.

The problem is still present even in Awakening. It takes a bit longer but it is still there and also the lag that occurs after some greater fights.

So what have we got from all of this? As I said the day after the 1.03 patch came out " Epic Fail" If you went out and got Awakening's thinking it would magically fix this problem, i bet your saying now that you will never buy a Bioware or EA Game again. EA Games is the distributor, not the game developer, so don't blame them. Bioware is yet again lost as how to fix a problem to a game that uses basically the same game en-gen since Knights of the old Republic. Ya for me it no longer takes 20min to go into a house, but 2 - 5 min is still not acceptable for such a small load. And now from what i have seen and read, Awakenning's has made the lag so bad you cant play the game.

I did notice that they have something planed for next feb of 1011? So I guess you can bet that they will now be working hard core on the upcoming new Star Wars Game - Old Republic and not do a ______ thing about this broken game of the year.

So to sum up. Unless you really want to spend 200+ hrs ( only 140 is game play time ), playing this game, my advice is Don't.

Yes there is also a fps-bug in Awakening. With a faster PC you don't notice it but when you test the game on an older PC you can see it very good. In some areas especially after battles you will receive a very low frame rate that can sometimes also cause a CTD.

This is the case and I can confirm it too. Whatever they did with the 1.03 patch should be reverted back. I don't mind the loading time anymore as long as the fps is steady.

I just completed Awakening and the problem still existed for me. I actually felt it was a lot worse than in Origins. In Origins, I never got to the point where I needed to save and exit the game, and then re-launch it. That fixed the problem by the way. My RAM usage would climb to 75-80% and then drop to 50-60% when I first launch the game, fixing the laggy game.

I'm about 8 hours into Awakening and the ever increasing load times are still an issue, I also now have the problem where the framerate starts to drop after a few hours, reloading makes the problem go away. The framerate goes from it's usual 60 (Vsync) right down to under 20 according to FRAPS.

awakening are really full of annoying bug....this could be culprit why the fps drop significantly worse.should there focus on improving game play cause it really drive away your mood to play.from the past post, there still memory leak in the game. if there still using the same engine and the same ''bad'' coding in dragon age 2,trust me...we will face the same song again.please bioware, dump that stupid unreliable game engine and people don't really care if the graphic is not beautiful but smooth gameplay without glitch is people really want.

believe me people...your pc are up to spec to play any game.

Agree...I would rather have a solid game that's smooth and runs like a dream...with "meh" graphics, rather than one that's all eye-candy with slowdowns and stutter.

In this day and age with modern PC systems we shouldn't even be seeing half the loading screens which are in DA. Whether its because of console limitations crippling the PC version as has been seen many times before I don't know.

What I do know though is that the crappy engine Bioware have clung to since Neverwinter Nights 1 (I know DA uses a new version but its still just as clunky and limiting as NWN1 was) just doesn't cut it any more.

When I started playing computer games 25 years ago I always dreamed of super computers running massive seamless worlds with zero loading - now when we actually have that computing power we can't see the results due to developers obsession with memory hogging textures and shiny graphics and ultimately loading screens at the expense of seamless worlds and immersion - its a shame.

After the 1.03 patch, loading times had improved slightly, but the drop in fps still existed.

This was the only factor I took into consideration when deciding on buying Awakening. Guess what? I didn't buy it!

I'm fed up with this s***t!

Seriously..i've bought this game when it first came out,i even bought the special edition cause i was sure this will be a great game. The Bioware support however is the worst support i have ever encountered for any game.

This issue has seriously affected my decision on whether or not i will buy The Old Republic MMO.I mean,if thats the support we get in a single player game what are they going to do on an MMORPG?

Seriously..i tried to play this game after the 1.03 patch. The loading times were gone but the fps thing started..I now have this game for what?Six months? And it is STILL unplayable..

THANKS BIOWARE!Hope you enjoy all the money i gave you guys,no,there is absolutely no need to inform us of what is happening or even fix the problem, just go get a beer pr something, have fun!

The funny thing is Dragon Age isn't even eye candy. The graphics are totally mediocre by today's standards. They have no excuse, what with all the loading and lag and memory leaks and all the other assorted garbage that shouldn't even exist when the game is so graphically unremarkable.

AC2 is a straight up port with a huge expansive world and looks much better than DA but runs like a dream on my system, and its completely seamless. This game drops to 5 fps when fighting a few darkspawn. Cripes.

/agreed I am fed up to. I haven't bought the expansion and don't plan too. Thnx for nothing EA / Bioware. I will keep that in mind when you release another title. Sad because I really enjoyed alot of games you put out but, you just turned into an every other developer who is a money hungry greedy company.

Anyone with a i7-980X at ~5Ghz willing to try if it can hold a solid 60fps on denerim marketplace or the path to the final battle or if they experience slow loading times.

I can connfirm, that greater battles in Awakening are a major PITA. As reported frequently, the FPS don't drop, the animations still run smoothly, but the inexplicable lag concerning the time between orders and their execution respectively hit and damage is even worse than it ever was in DA:O.

Out of interest I continued a game in DA:O and although I never had crash problems during the weeks after release, now it crashes and lags as well.

So it isn't the expansion per se, it's something else, which made things worse than they ever were.

As a side note: I'd really like to know, how someone like a game-dev feels when faced with all these eligible complaints about his work.

Ridiculous: Even an average talented ten years old kid has learnt, that running away and / or to bury one's head in the sand will never solve problems but make them worse.

So, how should we evaluate the silentness of the responsible persons?

I just want to add that in DA:O I start getting lag in menus and such after an hour or two of gameplay. It will eventually crash to the desktop, almost always in the middle of battle. Strangely, unless I restrart the computer a crash is likely to happen again in the same spot.
