I'm having a weird glitch. Everytime I travel to Warden's Keep my CPU load goes up top 100% and it keeps loading for all eternity. Worked fine before Return to Ostagar, I believe. This is on a save where I've already completed the Keep. Can try travel there on a new save later...

My pc is well within the recommended requirements and I have tried many of the suggestions here, checking temps, which stayed well below the danger level, removiing all but 3 saves, and all screenshots and putting them in a separate folder, selling off almost everything but the most important things from my inventory, cutting down my npcs to just 2, in other words, paring down everything in the game, and still the loading gets longer as I continue to play. I haven't had any that went over 2 minutes, but then, when it got that long I reloaded the game, so I feel for you players who are experiencing really long loads.

I'm wondering, since the lack of response from Bioware to this problem, if they may be working on a patch that will come out with Awakening. I hope this won't be still be a problem if/when it comes out in March.Image IPB

I didnt get this problem till near the end of my first play through. Now I'm getting it at the middle and end of my second play through and even earlier on my third run, which I just started. I'm wondering if maybe there are some temporary game cache files somewhere that aren't getting cleared out when the game is exited ? My other guess is that maybe it has something to do with updating your profile on line ?

I doubt it is a temperature problem. 5 days in a row of rain, and I doubt our suburb reached 28 degree's (maybe very early in the morning it did).

If it wasn't for the abnormally cooler day, I would have agreed about it being a temperature problem, since it IS summer after all and we don't have air conditioning.

Starts of loading in a sec or 2, next load screen 30sec-> A minute -> It justs longer and longer till it crashes,  I usually just close the program and restart  after 4 or 5 loadings.  Fullscreen and in a window, very little running in background.

8 GB RAM corsair ddr3, 2.5  Intel dual core, Window 7 profeesionlal, 500GB western digital hard drive , GeForce 9800 GX2

I can't answer as precisely as you want but here goes...

i had an acer M1641,

Pentium 2180

3 GB DDR2

512mb 9800GT

1024x768 screen resolution

I played on medium settings and would notice that loading screens became progressively longer...e.g. on launch load times would take <30s but after 2 or 3 hours of gameplay loading screens were so long that i had time to go outside and smoke a cigarette! (about 5mins)

I built a new computer a month ago and i have not experienced any increase in loading times! :)

current specs;

Phenom II x4 955 @ 3.8GHZ

4GB DDR3 RAM @ 1333 CL7

512MB 9800GT

This has got me thinking about this issue, since I haven't really had much of an issue with load times. My PC setup is a C2D E8500 OC'd to 3.8Ghz, 8Gb of ram, and a Nvidia 9800GX2. Generally after playing awhile, My memory usage for Dragon Age according to task manager is a little over 1Gb of ram. Both cores are maxed out of course. I was just wondering if SOME people might be having heat issues, since DA tends to max out the CPU. Have you all checked your CPU temps and GPU temps while running the game? I have manually turned up my CPU and GPU fans so I don't have to worry about the temps and I monitor with a program called real temp. I'm not sure, but I think most modern CPU's and GPU's will throttle down if they get too hot. Just a thought.

I had PC Wizard running which I believe gave not only CPU temp but also graphics card temps--the data is in my screenshots from my most recent post with data in it.

I just built a new PC. I run Windows 7 64 bit. The processor is a Phenom II x2 545 but I have successfully unlock all the cores so it's an x4 B45 now.

My old Athlon 64 x2 system had some awful load times, so far on my new system this hasn't been a problem.

Having said that, load times are still longer than I'd expect but very much improved with my new system.

I wonder what is so CPU intensive during the load screens? Upgrading my PC reduced load screen times so that tells me something is eating up a lotta cpu clock cycles and causing this issue to be even worse for those with less powerful CPU's.

(BTW, my newly built PC is still using my old single 3870, so that's why I believe this is a CPU issue)

i'm using runtimechecker to check the memory leak and running background while playing DA. mostly loading time will increase after 1 hour playing. exit the game and go back to runtimechecker memory tree it created. in the the memory tree log, there is 6 occurance listed by sub. you can download runtimechecker and run the test yourself. there, you can make conclusion which part of the file are trouble.

Pc spec (not decent)

Pentium 4 3.0ghz with HT

2gb DDR Ram

Radeon X1650 Agp Pro

40gb Maxtor ATA

160gb WD SATA

I just ran a system monitor logging while playing the game, going through the fade at the Circle Tower. It has many transitions, so I thought it might be interesting. I get this reliably, BTW. It showed some interesting correlations between the various cores and their %usage, as well as trending of system cache in the memory. I can make this available to you if you would like. (I was not playing for very long so load time was not TOO bad, but I can also redo it so that you can get the snap of the transitions that REALLY full of pain.)

System specs:

Operating System: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit (6.1, Build 7600) (7600.win7_rtm.090713-1255)

BIOS: Phoenix - AwardBIOS v6.00PG

Processor: AMD Phenom™ 9600 Quad-Core Processor (4 CPUs), ~2.3GHz

Memory: 4096MB RAM

Available OS Memory: 4094MB RAM

Page File: 1735MB used, 6451MB available

Card name: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260

thank you...yes,send it to me luke_97008@yahoo.com .maybe i can figure it out.

i am already beat the game before the patch came out...so this is my second playthrough after patching. i have going through all the forum relate to this problem and of course i'm not spare being affected by this loading problem.so i googling around and search software that can test memory leak and i found 1.from my test result, because i'm using Radeon X1650, it's look like physic problem with the card it self. i do not know why because it never occur when playing COD MW 2.maybe it related to the game engine itself.most complainer in the forum using ATI HD and some using Nvidia.

maybe this game not fully tested before release. remember the witcher? it has same fate before second release that fix everything.maybe bioware will re-work the game and release Dragon Age Origins Enchanced Edition.

I also have that problem with stuttering and increasing loadtimes (stuttering without frame dropping below the 60fps mark vsynced).
I have a full watercooling. My Watertemp never goes beyond 33°C @ 28°C room temperature. My i7 is at around 10K over water temp and is the hottest part of the system in that game. GPU runs at 38°C. Voltage regulators of the Radeon5870 are at about 44°C. Also Ramtemp is 34°C as is the case temp. Hmm have I forgotten some temps?
Ah jeah the HDDs run at around 4-5K above Watertemp (they are watercooled) and the SSD is heated by the system at the 34°C (same as case temp).

for me, i got long load times after the origin story of my elf mage,(btw worst time, i was just getting into the story) and they would just hang, and hang. i tried the "TLB fix" and it did help tremendously, also bumbed up my crysis benchmark 17fps on med/high mix settings.(?)
now, with the "TLB disable" running, its mostly smooth, but i just had a major hang after going into, then out of then back into the proving grounds in ozamarr. (thought i missed something, tried to get back in, 1.5-2 min. hang. no stopwatch, but it was a min.+ for sure. most likely more).

my specs-( cant seem to paste a dxdiag in here)
asus m3a763m board
vista sp2(it says dx11 in here(?))
amd phenom 9600 quad core 2.3gh
4 gb memory (crucial)
ati 4850 (512)
wd 320

i just wanna say its the most fun ive had in a game since oblivion, and the combat control is awesome, all the things you can do (or not do), in an attack is pretty amazing. the story is great, these idiots ive met, and can group with are super diverse, and all super cool in their own way. to me theres only a few  fun-detractors but they are kinda major.
-load times -(ps1 does way better)
-travel -(gottta be a better way than choosing tiles)
-invisible walls-(geez, really? i get it, but, in the elf forest, it made me not want to ever go back, no matter what.and im an elf dammit).
-travel -(sometimes the way back, or just out, isnt clear, even when travel is meant to be "free").

thanx for your time

Just a couple of points, only just bought the game:

1. Installed Patch 1.02A and found the load times increased by around 10-12 seconds. Loading up my Human Noble Origin save, (he's at the start in the castle), is now around 40 seconds long. Nothing major but still. It was quicker to load before I installed latest patch.

2. Game stutters badly on the Dragon Age / Bioware logo screen, stalls twice for 3-4 seconds each. Didn't do this before I installed latest 1.02A patch. Nothing major but still.

Apart from that when I'm walking around and talking in game, at the start around the castle and areas, everything is great, smooth gameplay, no stuttering.

PC Specs:

CPU: E6300 (Wolfdale. 45NM) @ 3.2 Ghz
Mobo: Gigabyte eg31mf-s2, latest driver FEb
GPU: Ati HD 5750 10.1 Drivers (latest)
Mem: 2GB Patriot 800MHz Dual Channel
HDD: Western Digital 200GB
PSU: Corsair HX450W
Virtual Mem: 3096MB allocated, 4080MB max
OS: Win XP, SP3.

Game Settings: 1360x768, High Textures, Very High Game Details, Frame Buffer effects ON, 4xAA, V-Sync ON.

I DON'T use FFDSHOW.

Hi IbanSarawak,

My offer of sending the sysmon log was to BioWare. And I can tell you that, as a professional in software development (who used to work in games development), this game WAS fully tested. BioWare has still not been able to reproduce this issue in their environment. (Yes, I believe them.) While this is huge for the people that see it, I have 4 other computers at my house that do not see the issue, and the game runs just fine on those. (They are just not MY gaming rig. :-D)

- how long does a loading screen last after having played for a few
hours (and how many hours you've played). Please measure the time with
a stopwatch and don't use an estimate. Does this happen every single
time you play?
The loading screen getting longer after 30 to 40hrs of playing, it takes 2mins at least, sometimes up to 5 mins............The loading was fast in the beginning of the game.  I had played 60hours now, just finish my first characters' story.

- amount of RAM you have on your system
9GB,

- will the problem happen in windowed mode or fullscreen only?
I only play in fullscreen

- During the super long load screen, is the hard drive indicator light constantly blinking?
don't know

Do you have any custom mods installed?
I download mods, not self custom one

My system specs:
Windows 7 64-bit

Core i7920
9RAM
GTX250

Primarily, my bad loading screens and choppy play are caused by extra party members AI. When I have no other AIs in my party the game is smooth and no extra loading time. With AIs in the party I have at most an hour before the choppy play and long loading occurs.

I know when my game is going to be choppy and have a high loading screen time, it's when the AIs start getting stuck. The AIs start getting stuck after some time, but it's made worse by pausing the game. I can reproduce that problem 100% of the time. I can stop by choppy play by letting the AIs "catch up", but then get stuck again, so it's worth reloading the game. The long loading screens has the game client completely stalled until the last 15 seconds of loading before it resumes the game. The music resumes inside those 15 seconds.

Even then, however, the game after about an hour or so will bind up and slow down.

The Dwarf city is the worst, the Fade gives me little trouble.

Based on all the comments I've seen on the topic, posted hardware stats is pointless. Every little "fix", save reloading, does nothing. My hardware is sufficient.

First loading up the game, takes seconds. First couple areas I load into, little more. By the time I'm 15-20 minutes in, loading a single area (say, Flemeth's hut. A very small house) took me 10 minutes or more. Kind of killed my interest to play until it (if) gets fixed.

OS: Tried on both Windows Vista 64 bit and Windows 7 64 bit, same results.

Processor: AMD Phenom 9500 quad-core, 2.20ghz

Ram: 8gigs

Video: ATI radeon 4800.

I just did a live chat with a tech support guy and he gave me the impression that bioware has no idea how to fix the long loading problem. All he did was send me a bunch of useless info on how to adjust my graphics setting on my computer than hung up on me.

Like just about everyone else here having this problem. I too have a high end gaming platform. By the time i got to the last area of the game after playing it for two days (most of the time i believe is from waiting on loading screens) im experiencing loading screens upwards of 15 minutes long. I was able to vacuum the floor of my entire home in the time it took to load. I have played games with graphics that look a hell of a lot better than this game and never had a single problem with slow loading and such.

Though this game is fun to play im getting tired of waiting for the next screen to load. I think ill just go play Oblivion instead.

load times start to slow down after an hour of playing. The longest I had was 4 minutes 36 seconds after two and a half hours. Only periodic access to hard drive (light coming on occasionally) right the way through. I have only played in full screen mode. Now I quit when it starts lagging, but have to come right out of the game and restart.

System specs:

XP with service pack 3

AMD Athlon dual core 4200 2.1gH

2gb RAM

Nvidia Geforce 7800 GTX

I have also noticed that after a long session my PC takes a few minutes to recover, with everything in go slow mode.

Tested on the camp site with game finished (all characters in camp, in case that could affect loading times)
- First load takes 4 seconds. After 1 hour of visiting different places the load time in the camp goes up to 32 secs. After 2 hours, 54 secs.

- Specs
Win7 x64
AMD Phenom 2 x4 945
Super Talent 8gb DDR2 800
ATI Sapphire 5770 HD 1gb
Game's on a 500gb SATA-2 HDD

I'll try the -singlecore parameter (when RtO finishes downloading) and post the results later. ;)

OK this is a joke or more like they are turning into one .But they say they cant reproduce this , really .any moron could come up with the idea to. Just copy someones build of computer/OS/video card/etc/etc/make/model.

And guess what you just might be able to then reproduce the problem. Are there no thinkers working for you guys. You guys do have money now you cant hide that because we gave it to you Im just to trying to cover all angles.

It shouldn't be that difficult there are  Allot of different builds and then you Add them   up(thats the + key) just how many times( e.g the name Nadia is mentioned for someones video card/ sound, and Mobo or do i need to tell you Mobo stands for Motherboard). And when your done you take the BIGGEST number of everything component.

.AND maybe i don't know? buy that brand maybe . for a Test computer . That might make it easier for you. But if thats to hard i guess one of the community, could get the numbers for you.

And if you have any problems we WILL have a community member waiting eagerly to assist you with any problem you may have, we are here 24/7/365 /366 days a year  for your wallet i mean gaming pleasure.
