I hated myself for going through with it. I hated myself for rubbing the sweat of my palms on my sweatpants, watching my character do fictional chinups for ten full minutes - or however long it took.

In fact, I hated myself so much, after finishing the scene, I went into the most brutal IRL workout I did in months. My arms still hurt so much, I lift my oversized g'mornin coffee cup to my mouth with both hands.

This was the best moment in Citadel DLC. It explained perfectly why Shepard can't be indoctrinated or Levaithan controlled. It explained why sedatives couldn't stop him in Arrival. It explained why Shepard beats the Reapers who have done their thing for millions of years. It explained why Batman would be stomped hard by Shepard.

OP, change the title.

Really good point! Suck it indoctrination theorists! No indoctrinated individual would do something so utterly pointless and based on pride, besides too much of the dlc is random stuff done with Shepard and his friends that there is not way indoctrination caused him to hallucinate it all

My point was that Shepard's unique power of will allows him casually beat pull-up records from the worst position on the whim. Ammount of hard work needed in the absolute random and pointless situation was astonishing. If he can do that, this truly means that Shepard's power of will is unmatched even by Leviathan standards and he can't be controlled for the prolonged time in any way (bonus points if you managed to shove off Morinth in ME2).

It's not supposed to be. It's like one of these JRPG things where if you grind your ass off, you get a nice scene.

As for me, I was exhausted at the end, man, do you know what it is to click the same two buttons for 10 minutes? I must have lost a total of 2 calories.

Hum, no? I played plently of jrpg, and what you feeling after griding is accomplishement because you now beat that boss, it's not an ungoing torture scene, I does'nt make you want to kill yourself out of boredom . I was exausted at the end too, the hardest part was finding the strenght not to say "**** this I will watch it on youtube later". I was also kinda stressed out that the timing to hit buttons was going to become shorter, and that I would eventually miss. Pretty sure I would have went to bed if that had happened.

I had to do it. Couldn't let Vega be better than me at anything.

I think BioWare knew that people's dislike of him would convince them to do all of the pull-ups.

I did to show Vega why my Shepard was the boss.
I'll do it with all my Shepards

I hoped that Jacob one was: "Do you even lift, bro?" (LotSB had exact numbers of his push-ups).

I liked how Jacob was humiliated in front of children, but I want more.

He is not. He just tells you how amazing you are without a hint of lying. Jacob is butthurt if you beat him, though.

I'd do about 50. That's how many I can do IRL.

I swing though. It's way easier if you swing.

I did it and I'm sure most who did it have the same story as me. I absolutely hated myself for doing it but I was way too stubborn to stop either.

This ;3 Was far too stubborn to not keep clicking.

Nah, why would I do that? My Shepards have no need to prove themselves that way.

Personally, I was a bit disappointed when it stopped at 183. I figured they would let me hit the button another 17 times, and really show him who's boss at 200.

Disregarding the IT, too much of the DLC is so absurdly cheesy, random, cliché and pathetic I would think it better be a goddamn hallucination.

I'll admit I was kind of hoping that doing all 183 would somehow trigger a hidden Vega romance or something. Alas, my Shep was disappointed. D:

I did all 183 while simultaneously hitting both triggers repeatedly, not even looking at the tv, and reading this entire forum. WIN! LOSS cuz you get jackshhhh for it...

Not at all.

Occasionally during the grind he comments. Some of it is smack talk but in a joking manner (like cracks about Shepard's age), and some of it is encouragement. If Shepard beats him, Vega is pumped up and congratulates Shepard. He says somemthing like, "Damn, you still got it. Don't let anyone tell you different."

The real people with willpower are the ones who can stop one short just to see if James says anything then (I didn't).

I did it. I wasn't letting some NPC be the greater pixelated bad***. Never again though. I ignored the bar my second playthrough and pretended that the whole scene didn't exist. Such tedium for the pride of a fictional character...

Yes with fshep and frankly I think her arms shouldn't be working after that. I just put it on mute and decided I'm kicking his ass for all the flirting he's been doing maybe this will shut him up.
