This is a Kickstarter project that should interest the NWN2 community. The spiritual successor to Planescape:Torment.

On their team:
Monte Cook and Colin McComb, two of the primary writers for the Planescape setting, Colin was also a designer for Planescape:Torment and Fallout 2. Kevin Saunders is project director, he was project lead for Mask of the Betrayer. Tony Evans, who wrote for Knights of the Old Republic 2 and Mask of the Betrayer (he wrote One of Many).

The setting and rules are from Numenera, an original creation of Monte Cook. More about the setting: www.kickstarter.com/projects/1433901524/numenera-a-new-roleplaying-game-from-monte-cook
"Numenera is set a billion years in the future. Civilizations have risen and fallen on Earth. Even though the current inhabitants live at about a Medieval level of technology, the leftover remnants of these advanced societies lie all around them. Some of these are extremely helpful: advanced tools, valuable means of communication and learning,
transportation, defenses, and weapons. Others are dangerous: genetically altered monstrosities, flesh-warping radiation, creatures transplanted from distant stars, and clouds of out-of-control nanobots, just to name a few. This setting, called the Ninth World, provides all manner of opportunities and challenges to those that call it home."

It sounds like it will use the same game engine as the other game they are working on, Wasteland 2. There is alpha gameplay footage of that game on youtube.

I saw this just after it had reached its funding goal, within only 6 hours. I'm cautiously optimistic, as I note that certain aspects of the game seem to be picking the wrong parts out of PS:T to revisit (fixed protagonist, immortality, etc.) where I would have preferred a completely different kind of story set in the very interesting Planescape setting, which is a rich and fertile ground for creativity, but instead we're getting a different setting with a character similar to the Nameless One exploring similar themes.

On the plus side, since both settings were designed by Monte Cook, the Numenera setting should also be rich and interesting in its own way.

Also, the First Look video of Wasteland 2 looks excellent. Although I'm not a particular fan of post-eschaton settings such as after a nuclear war, the gameplay itself, and most especially the text descriptions of everything, make me extremely optimistic about it.

Grimoire: Heralds of the Winged Exemplar, right?  Some comments from other users (those who point to its long development time) have made me wonder whether it will actually be completed.  I hope it will be, though.

Consider me one of the believers who thinks it will be released. I've pledged and already played the demo. It's possible if the month of May rolls around without meeting the funding goals, there may be a limited release. But all the more reason anyone who is a fan of this vintage style of cRPG should donate to the indiegogo campaign!
