I was playing the mirror mode on elite in the combat arena, the infiltrator was always the last alive after a wave.
I was with vanguard, so my clone fight wasn't THAT hard, it's not that easy to take down a real novaguard.. B)

Bonus power, no, but same basic build, yes. My Clone keeps nailing me with warp and grenades, all the while charging me (making keeping at range almost impossible). I have Garrus and Wrex and both keep getting taken down pretty regularly, and neither makes any ground on the clone unless I land disrupt, carnage, and warp all at the same time (then I can take down about 1/3rd of the armor/shields per combo). I think guys must constantly pour in, because I've tried to eliminate all but the clone, and more just keep showing up (along with Brooks who I think the clone must be reviving)

Isn't that the point of playing on insanity?

That's what I initially thought, too. But the clone works... differently than other enemies.

I cannot put my finger on it, but the AI seems to behave unlike any other humanoid enemies in the game. Throughout the games, you get a certain feel for enemy "rythm", that can be reacted to. Mostly it comes down to a two opposing forces sitation, in hindsight of positioning. Some move more or less, but basically each group stays within "their" area.
The clone actually moves a lot, and is in general way more agile than other enemies - even the Phantoms have a very predictable movement pattern, as far as I experience it.

Their movement patterns reminds me of Dragoons.

If Clone Shep melee weapon locks with you just spam the melee button, then slap him/her around with a heavy melee followed by some gunfire/powers. Using Tech Bursts and Fire Explosions is extremely helpful. Clone Shep actually staggers when he/she is supposed to, unlike most enemies who will become implacable at the absolute worst times.

As pleased as I was to see a boss fight again, it was almost completely offset by Bioware going with a cliche-ridden "evil clone" approach, which was also very cheesy and contrived in execution.

Holy cow I had the hardest time. I came in with a shotgun.

Infiltrator was cloaking everywhere. Took me like 100 deaths to beat it. Maybe 2-3 hours?

The rest of the game on insanity was not nearly as difficult.

I should have reloaded and took a sniper rifle and went for headshots. It would have been a lot more efficient.

It was definitely the difficulty of a final boss fight that I wanted for the game. Marauder Shields was almost there though.

I did it that way and...no.

He cloaks, you lose track since his minions are bending you over. He gets in close, you Omni-tool fight, he breaks off, usually Incinerates, then cloaks.

No fun.

I found the AI of the mooks in this DLC alone to be a noticable upgrade to the other enemies. They seemed more aggressive and active, without bothering to mention their weaponry.

Clone shepard impressed me with it's AI, it seemed like they took extra time with it. It was as predictable as it was tough. It seemed like it was programmed to act similar to how a player would use a given class. Everytime my shields went down as a soldier the clone took the opportunity to bullrush me while blasting me with the valkyrie, then locking me in a fist fight. Everytime I regenned my shields it would back off and shoot from a distance, and use powers.

I was thoroughly impressed.

My poor Vanguard got owned so bad on Insanity. I ran like a little girl when the clone found me. The fight was a bit easier thanks to Wrex at least.

Curious. Is the equipped weapon totally random? In my Sentinel run, she had a Wraith, Engineer used a Hurricane, and if I'm not mistaken the Infiltrator clone seems to use a Valiant or Indra, no (at least in the mirror match at the arena)? Crazy tough but fun. Reminds me of ME1 and some of 2 when enemies actually used powers.

As a infiltrator I didn't think it was that bad. It certainly took me by surprise the first time and had to reload a second after doing something stupid. Wrex seems to take great pleasure smacking the clone around so I used that to snipe from distance. Vanguard will be next I can see how that will be harder.

I've done vanguard and engineer on insanity. I actually thought the engineer was more annoying, all those incenerates staggering and drones flanking...

Also, I think it's pretty funny that you can kill Brooks in the fight and she comes back... I guess it's a medigel joke.

A trope can't "bad." A trope can be used well or poorly, and I think Bioware hit it out of the park on this one.

I did this on Veteran with an infiltrator and it still kicked my ass. But to be fair, I'm pretty rusty at ME3 ATM.

No dude, he brought the FisherPrice Widow, not the grownups version (M-98) :P

It was unintentionally fitting that Shep Cloney even whields the arch nemesis version of my weapon.

It's funny how not-Shepard's opinions on sniper rifles if different from my own infiltrators. I've always went for rapid fire sniper rifles like the Viper and the Raptor and find single shot super-damage sniper rifles like the Widow to be to limited in usefulness to be worth it... But the clone uses a Widow. We use totally OPPOSITE types of sniper rifle. It's somehow fitting.

Nice to see BW recant on their "video gamey" boss fight stance.

I really enjoyed battling the clone and look forward to trying this for all classes.

The too video gamey statement was referring to the scapped Reaperized Illusive Man boss fight.

Still, fighting against the Vanguard clone on insanity was brutal.

Ehhhh... That idea isn't nessicarily 'too video gamey'. It just needs more development. Soverign was flught through Saren so Harbinger could overcome Mr. Illusive and the idea really just needs more explination. Mr. Illusive currently sits as a mostly blank slate they could have carved into.

Teela Vasir, Shadow Broker, Clone!Shepard and Rannoch Reaper are by far my favorite bosses in the series for various reasons.

Teela Vasir because she was a Vanguard and posed quite the challange to my Vanguard and opened my eyes to how the look from the otherside.

Shadow Broker because, though fought in stages, was interesting and more so that the rest of ME2's battles which weren't terribly interesting bosses.

Rannoch Reaper because you take down a freaking Reaper! ON FOOT! The music and atmosphere was spot on and I did have some dificulty at times running from the beam on Insanity. It may not take much effort to beat, but I liked the scene itself.

And, Clone!Shepard because it opened my eyes to how I look from the other side CHARGENOVACHARGENOVACOVERREAVECHARGENOVANOVA! It was also in an interesting setting and I over all was having a blast with the DLC.

I died maybe twice with my Infiltrator on Insanity: multiplayer has taught me that keeping on the move and cloaked as much as possible is essential if you want to live.

Ironically, Shepard is one of the toughest enemies in the franchise. Although the clone fight wasn't too difficult (As a soldier, at least), the mirror match in the Arena is brutal.

CloneShep is definitely my favourite boss fight in the franchise, though. The fight in the open hanger bay was superb.

I did it with my Soldier on Insanity... holy ****. Not that I died often (only once) but it was still very stressful, I actually had to concentrate a whole lot in order to succeed, like at the final battle in London where I died so many times. (ENEMIES EVERYWHERE, also, Liara clipping out of the map so I was all alone with Garrus)

Can't imagine with a Vanguard, it must be hellish.

Also since I'm used to do headshots, I was kinda puzzled when I popped Brooks' head during the fight with my Crusader only to find her completely intact during the cutscene afterwards.

I have the exact opposite take on that.
In my game he used the Black Widow, while I use the Widow. This is because I think reducing it's damage and adding more shots before reloading not only dumbs down, but screws up the entire concept of the weapon IMO.

But well, I suppose a couple of headshots from the real guy with the "real" gun made him realize the same rather quickly... Okay, douche-mode off:
I played on insanity, and while I didn't die, the fight was still extremely challenging and took quite a while.

*snip*

My opinion too. I only use the Javelin or the normal Widow as infiltrator. Powerful but one shot and slow reloading weapon. That's the deal, screw up your shot and you're in trouble.

I'd add that the new high velocity cannon mod for the sniper rifle takes out the advantage of the Widows and Javelin, since every sniper rifle equipped with it can now do the same damage and even pierce through cover while reloading quicker and weighing much less.
