It's not "bad" - it's just not that much different from a non-romanced Ashley.
Well, at least you get some hints dropped while in the Casino-mission (if you have her in the squad) that "stuff is happening", but that's it.

Well, at least Ash got some kind of content. Thanemancers got nothing :(

Allers? Ashley?
Well, both start with an "A", but that's all they have in common :?

Ohh Jacob or Allers for worst romance. I'll vote for Allers which is quite something considering Jacob dumps Shep and knocks up another woman.

I don't think you understood my post; I was replying to OP's statement about Ashley having the worst romance.

The bar scene isn't all that great, but there is other stuff that makes it good. If you take her on the infiltration mission at the casino, you get some fun dialogue. I made the party loud, and louder to the point where she shouts something like "There's no fighting? Shepard, meet me later without the shirt or the pants!" Then when you wake up next to her and the final conversation with her before rejoining the Normandy was really good.

even if "Thanemancers got nothing", THANE himself got a ton. He's a hero and his death will save countless other drell in the future (With Salarians backing the research)

the only thing they DIDNT do was make him a giant statue on the prisidium, and also name him super ultra space pope 9000, post mortem.

I watched the Thane stuff on YT. The end romance stuff had me crying. They did good.

It wasn't "bad".
Just, "Meh."
Considering that she was one of the original LIs, the least they could do was make her's "special", a reward for staying loyal these past three games.

Even a night out reminiscing about the past would have been better.
Ah well.
What is done is done.

Yeah.

Well, my impression on Ash, Kaidan and Liara in ME1 was something like that:

Ashley = canon romance for a male Shepard
Kaidan = canon romance for a female Shepard
Liara = alternative romance for any Shepard

That was the impression I had. In ME2, that impression was kept intact, despite the addition of new romances. The "drama on Horizon" which showed a deeply hurt Kaidan / Ashley gave me that idea. It felt as if the writers wanted to separate Shepard from his/her LI to test his/her loyalty. Obviously, Liara got some extra content in the form of a DLC, but she still didn't feel more canoney like the other two.

Before ME3 got released, I had the impression ALL existing LIs could end as "canon" for their fans. Which was a good thought since it removed a lot of hardship.

And then ME3 got released. And some romances got an amazing treatment, others got a meh-treatment, but a lot of those romances felt as if the writers dropped the ball and never finished those plots. Ashley simply got the worst of it by the standards of a "canon romance" in ME1, followed by Kaidan. Liara's romance now felt like the true canon romance.

That, as I said, are my impressions.

Completely Agree on this post.
I always thought Ash was Canon and Kaiden was for Femshep. And the ME2 Horizon was a "test" to stay loyal. ........wow when ME3 rolled along, I didn't even know Ashley was????

She was so different in character and personality. Not like the one I remember from ME1. And then......liara comes in ughhhhh....dont even get me started with liara....

Anyway: the best part of this DLC: Wrex is back. Zaeed and Grunt IMO HA! The Tower of Powers

I wouldn't say it is bad.

Just that all of the other potential LIs that were on the ME3 squad had more romance specific content. The bar scene occurs regardless of whether or not Ashley is romanced, and probably works better with a friend playthrough.

I'd consider Ashley's content to be better than Tali's however, despite Tali having a 'date' that changes considerably depending on whether or not she is an LI. I thought Tali's LI scene was embarrasingly bad. Ashley's LI content is actually quite good in quality, there is just less of it compared to Garrus, Liara, Tali, Kaidan, and Traynor.

She also got less than Jack and Miranda, though the living ME2 squaddies (with the exception of Jacob) got more attention in the DLC than those were on the Normandy in ME3.

Ashley hooked up with Vega at my party, so it must be different.

Unless you mean you can literally replace vega with shepard in that sentence.

Yeah, I don't know if there are any requirements of how you do the party, but after the group picture, Shepard wakes up in bed with Ashley if she's your romantic interest and they have a short conversation before she goes downstairs.  Then they talk again at the very end right outside the Normandy, which was actually a really nice conversation.

Hmm, but must say, Javik's Blasto scene was much more fun to watch.

Ashley's bar scene was ... short. It -really- was. And tbh, it really could have used some more flirting between both if romanced. In my mind, that scene was a bit different:

- friendly banter like it is, minus sexual reference (endurance test) ^^

- romantic banter (Ash is old LI, not-yet renewed romance):

Ashley: You go first, Skipper.
Shepard: I think the beautiful and super-sexy Spectre-lady should go first.
Ashley: Here you have it *drinks first glass* Your turn.
Shepard: *player uses interrupt* This is going to be easy.
Ashley: Impressive. But I'm not done yet *drinks glass*
Shepard: *interrupt* Feeling dizzy already? *drinks glass*
Ashley: Says the beginner. Watch and learn, Skip! *drinks glass*
Shepard: *interrupt* Keep it coming *drinks glass* I can do that all day.
Ashley: *giggles* Sure you can, big man. *drinks glass*
>>>----> dialogue continues later

If no interrupt is used / after dialogue above:
Ashley: Looks like we have a winner *grins*
Shepard: Couldn't allow your ego getting devastated. *smiles*
Ashley: Says the sore loser *still grins*
Shepard: Well, I have a better idea, LC, instead of getting ourselves drunk.
Ashley: It's not going to be a date, right?
Shepard: Better.
Ashley: Don't tell me you want to do twenty. Are we there already?
Shepard: Depends on you, Williams.
Ashley: I'm not that kind of a girl, Sir. Dinner first. *smiles*
Shepard: Count me in. I take the bill.
Ashley: You really want it that hard, do you? *giggles*
Shepard: I rather want the full package. Dinner, date, you. And then twenty.
Ashley: Romantic moment des- *gets kissed*
Shepard: *ends kiss* You talk way too much.

- romantic banter (renewed or new romance).
(Basically the same dialogue in first part)

If no interrupt is used / after dialogue above:
Ashley: Looks like we have a winner *grins*
Shepard: I love keeping the illusion you're in charge, Ash.
Ashley: Says the sore loser *still grins* - and I am in charge. Always.
Shepard: Show me.
Ashley: Give me a reason to.
Shepard: *kisses Ash* Does that count?
Ashley: It's a start, but you can do better *smirks*
Shepard: It's been a long time since we did that, Ash. Give me another chance.
Ashley: No.
Shepard: No?
Ashley: Watch and learn. *deeply kisses Shepard*
Shepard: And how am I supposed to watch with eyes closed?
Ashley: So much for the romantic moment. *snickers*
Shepard: Sorry, Ash. *grins* I have a better idea. Different place, better music.
Ashley: Don't tell me it's going to be a date?
Shepard: I won't. It's more ... different.
Ashley: I'm not that kind of a girl, Skipper. Dinner first.
Shepard: Count me in. I take the bill.
Ashley: You really want it that hard, do you? *giggles*
Shepard: I rather want the full package. Dinner, date, you.
Ashley: You tend to have your ways, Mr. Shepard. *smiles*
Shepard: That's Commander for you *smiles back*
Ashley: Shut up and kiss me.

The thing about the DLC in regards to romance is that it isn't comfined to just one scene. If you use your LI throughout the DLC, and they appear for ALL of it, then you get an almost constant slew of relationship related dialogue.

And ashley's was great in my opinion, in every scene.

In mine had some vorcha and batarian tap on my shoulder half way through and we ended up fighting them and calling a rain check on the date. :crying:

It was very short. That bar scene was kinda.. wierd. Here I was flirting her and then some losers show up and ruin everything and it just ends.

Same with Jack showing up with her puppy. She just disappears with no sign of the thing.

I had Ashley as my romance throughout the entire series. Other than 1-2 suggestive innuendos, the bar scene isn't really a romance scene. It's really just a drinking contest that, after one rude interruption, ends in them walking away agreeing to a later raincheck (it ends roughly the same way regardless of whether you keep using the interrupts to win the contest). There isn't even a kiss in it.

However, as Trentest0 said, the other scenes with Ashley in them are quite good, and you do wake up with her at the end of the party (the scene is very well done). It is a shame that you and her never get that raincheck though (unless you consider the party or the scene before Cronos Station to be that "raincheck").

Although I was disappointed that the invite/meet-up scene wasn't as romantic as say, Jack's or Miranda's romance scenes, to some extent it does fit with Ashley's character. Ashley was heartbroken when the Commander died and became extremely skeptical upon finding out he was working for Cerberus. Although she apologizes, she is still skeptical about the Commander and, in my opinion, doesn't really agree to give him "another chance" until the meeting with her on the Presidium when the Commander kisses her. Thus, given how defensive/internally-conflicted she is, it somewhat makes sense for her not to "put out" until Cronos Station. Doesn't change the fact it's disappointing, but it's understandable.

I'm doing my playthrough with ash as my LI currently and there isn't too lines with ash and the commander straight up flirting, but that isn't really her character. She is more reserved when it comes to showing affection (maybe she just isn't a fan of PDA?) so it doesn't really bother me. You also need to remember that she doesn't really realize how much she loves and depends on the commander until the night before the attack on Cronos Station (and in my opinion the best romance scene), so I wouldn't expect her to show her affection as much as if Liara was Shepard's LI (jesus it was like every other line Shep and Liara said to each other in the DLC was about bangin')..

And in case it needs to be said, Liara's stuff in the DLC was also pretty awesome :D

Liara is all about PDA and Tali is all about dirty talk.  Ashley plays hard to get.
