Pretty simple; in your headcanon, what happens to the ME characters/universe after the trilogy ends? Just state which ending you're following on from (this can include MEHEM or your own headcanon ending, natch; if the latter, please give brief details of what happened), and say what you think happens next in as much detail as you'd like. Show us whatcha got, BSN!

To start, my pi$$-poor effort (following on from Destroy):

COMMANDER SHEPARD: by the time he awoke in the intensive care section of a London hospital, much of the initial fallout from the Battle of Earth was done; the shell-shocked survivors of the Reaper invasion had regrouped and were already beginning the long process of rebuilding what they had lost. Learning that he had been found by a team combing the partially-ruined Citadel for survivors, Shepard insisted on a full debriefing despite his extensive injuries, and his insight was sought by every faction as they decided how to proceed next.
By the time the Normandy finally made the return journey to Earth, Shepard had already declined offers both to represent humanity on the newly reorganised Council, and to take command of the surviving Spectres. As the first few mass relays were brought online, the presence of Shepard and the Normandy brought comfort to many of the shattered homeworlds.
Any other man may have considered retirement after his accomplishments, but Shepard was not just any man. He and his crew were to have many other adventures, though none were as galaxy-shattering as what became known as the Reaper War...

LIARA T'SONI: after an emotional reunion with her paramour Shepard, T'Soni added her expertise in ancient artifacts to the teams dissecting the vast Reaper corpses that scattered the Sol system. The knowledge gained was instrumental in restoring the galaxy's mass effect technology; first communications, and then the relays. And her network of contacts as the Shadow Broker, a role she eventually retired, was extremely helpful as the galaxy slowly reconnected over the next few painful years. She would also aid in the restoration of her homeworld, but inevitably found her true place at Shepard's side aboard the Normandy.

TALI'ZORAH VAS NORMANDY: reuniting with the then-stranded flotilla around Earth, the young quarian was at the forefront of her race's subsequent rebuilding efforts. Far from being mistrusted by the other races, after their efforts helping to repair the mass relays, the Citadel and much of Earth's infrastructure (and that of the other homeworlds as the relay network was slowly reconnected) left the quarians much in demand. Still, eventually Tali'Zorah would finally set foot on Rannoch once more, where she found the planetside quarians hard at work attempting to restore the geth race just as it was, using copies of their mental engrams stored on vast databases.

GARRUS VAKARIAN: the turian would eventually revisit his homeworld, the presence of the great war hero lightening the spirits of his battered people. In the immediate aftermath of the Reaper War, though, Vakarian found his old training coming to the fore as he aided the people of Earth and their allies in forging a new law-enforcement and peacekeeping force that would become the template for the post-war galactic society. "C-SEC as it should always have been" was the former officer's verdict.

MIRANDA LAWSON: the galaxy was left with a lasting hatred of Cerberus, although Lawson's securing of vital resources and scientific personnel in the aftermath of the Battle for Earth did much to ease the animosity felt towards her personally. Still, it was a surprise to everyone, including Lawson herself, when she found herself representing humanity on the newly reorganised Council. The recommendation of Commander Shepard held that much weight...

ASHLEY WILLIAMS: the wake of the Reaper War left the galaxy raw and exposed; as the relay network was slowly, painfully reconnected, already suffering systems were targeted both by ruthless pirates and expansionist landgrabs by races such as the Batarians. Spectre Williams was at the forefront of the fight back, pushing back the raiders with her own team, and eventually helping to train a whole new generation of Spectres.

JACK: after bringing almost her entire class of biotic students through the Reaper War alive, the former Prisoner Zero helped to form a new Grissom Academy dedicated to instructing students from every world in the use of their powers. She would become legendary both for the unprecedented pass rate among her classes, and for the number of disciplinary reports filed by her fellow teachers.

URDNOT WREX: eventually returning to Tuchanka after helping with the efforts around Earth, Wrex and his mate Eve helped to forge a new Krogan society. In the chaos following the Reaper War, krogan mercenaries would be in more demand than ever, but Wrex and Eve also made sure that their society had a future fit for their children. While Eve accomplished much by diplomatic words, Wrex was known to resort to a headbutt or two in a pinch...

JACOB TAYLOR: eventually founding a private security company, Taylor was to find that his partner Dr. Cole had very firm views about his responsiblities, and as such the only 'prize' he would be chasing in the future would be their family stability. To his great surprise, he found that both marriage and fatherhood suited him extremely well.

GRUNT: of all the krogan mercenary squads active in the gaalxy after the rebuilding of the first few relay connections, the one led by the 'perfect krogan' was most in demand. Returning to Tuchanka between commissions, the young warrior was surprised to find his genetic lineage HIGHLY in demand among the now-fertile krogan females...

KASUMI GOTO: the master thief vanished amidst the rebuilding effort on Earth. Some said that she had recovered a lifetime's worth of ill-gotten gains from their hiding places and retired, although the retirement of the last Shadow Broker left a void that, others maintained, was not vacant for long...

SAMARA: following the reopening of the relay network, the most prominent of the asari justicars vanished from public view following a brief meeting with Commander Shepard and select members of his crew. Rumours eventually surfaced of her presence at a remote monastery, but these were never substantiated, not could anyone explain why Samara would wish to take up residence in such a place...

ZAEED MASSANI: the hard-bitten mercenary was briefly in high demand by the leaders of the various restructuring military forces after the war, although his plain-speaking and abrasive attitude eventually brought this to an abrupt halt. Massani was last seen happily retired on a tropical but very private island, although many wondered how long he would tolerate the boredom of peace...

JAMES VEGA: although offered a place among the Spectres for his role in the Reaper War, Vega declined in order to stay with the Alliance. The decimated human forces were in need of officer material, and he would become well-known as one of the foremost commanders in the post-war era.

JAVIK: initially distracted by the regrouping and rebuilding efforts, Javik was persuaded by Shepard, Liara and his other friends to record the most important memories of his people, before joining them on their tour of the rebuilding homeworlds. At last, though, he said a final farewell to the crewmates who had become closer than he could ever have imagined, and travelled to what had once upon a time been his homeworld. And there, the galaxy's last remaining Prothean died.

CAPTAIN BAILEY: when the first relay to be brought to basic operation, the Earth relay, was first reactivated, the exhausted scientists responsible for the breakthrough were astonished to find a small fleet of ships ready to travel through. It was to transpire that Bailey, alerted to the impending Reaper takeover of the Citadel, had managed to organise an emergency evacuation. While many lives were lost, the thousands saved by Bailey's actions included two of the Council members, a bartender who turned out to be an asari matriarch, a resourceful young drell and a doctor from one of the Citadel's medical clinics. Bailey himself was 'enthusiastically' greeted on his return to Earth by what was apparently his estranged wife, shortly before he informed the authorities of his well-earned retirement.

JEFF 'JOKER' MOREAU: the helmsman of the Normandy, despite struggling with depression following the destruction of the Reapers, continued to travel with Shepard on his initial tour of the homeworlds following the reconnection of the first relays. It was above Rannoch that, investigating an anomalously large data surge in the Normandy's cockpit systems, Moreau discovered a repeating binary sequence in the ship's code that, once converted into the roman alphabet, consisted of one three-letter name.
By the time Commander Shepard was alerted, Moreau was gone, along with the Normandy's shuttle, several yottabytes of data from the ship's systems, and a deactivated combat droid body. The only explanation was a note reading simply; 'Gone to see a Quarian about a repair job.'...

Canon ending: MEHEM.

Canon epilogue: After a heartfelt reunion, each character goes off to help rebuild. The VS is given command of the Normandy (gonna go do some spectre stuff aww yeeeaah) while Shepard finds a nice place to retire and raise adopted krogan babies. The aftermath is difficult, especially with half the Relays currently nonfunctional, but there is, at last, peace.

(Longer, more detailed version coming soon... maybe.)

After blowing the reapers up and being rescued Shepard by all of his old friends he feels exhausted and yet somehow relieved.
Order has been restored to the galaxy and the cycle has finally been broken permanently.
Heavy losses everywhere but nothing that cannot be rebuilt
He looks around at all the familiar faces standing around him, feeling humbled that they should risk everything once again to come drag him out of the fire.
But something is not quite right, whenever he speaks his crew and friends simply respond with singing a crude pirate song, making the verses rhyme with what Shepard said.
This goes on for a while until Shepard tricks them all by saying the word "Orange", to which they can't come up with a rhyme...
Shepard feels a little guilty for breaking up their song, but atleast the galaxy is safe.

After being recovered from the rubble & making a relatively full recovery, Shepard and Garrus reunite with Garrus's family and (Spacer)Shepard's mother. After they're settled, I imagine Shepard & Garrus might separate momentarily to sort out the recovery efforts on their respective planets, but reunite quickly thereafter to go on a much deserved (and extended) vacation.

Also, EDI and the Geth totally for realsy reboot themselves and everything is happy and sunshine.

Maleshep: Waking in a London hospital

If Jack: Shep and her eventually go out to bust the galactic remnants of Cerberus.

Tali: They build a house on Rannoch, but never go there. The SR-2 is home for both.

Femshep:

She and Garrus adopt an orphaned Turian girl and Human boy and live a reasonably quiet life...occasionally being called upon to deal with what others can't

Liara? Blue babies. Traynor? Two kids and a dog just like Traynor wanted. Shep keeps the cost of refuse a secret for a few years. finally admits it to her...all is well.

Shepard is recovered and retires, spending the rest of his life with Kaiden, and recovering from the fact that he destroyed every Geth and EDI for the galaxy to be free, truly free, from the presence of the Reapers (one of three incidents that continue to haunt him, the other two being having to leave someone behind on Virmire and his inability to save the Batarians who got caught in the mass relay explosion).

I'm not one big on headcanon, really, but I will combine the LI's look of hope during the memorial and the Citadel/London breath into a scene where Shepard is rescued. Pretty simple: rubble being flung off the body and people scrambling to get Shepard to a medical outpost after that.

Shepard and Miranda retire to a nice tropical is.and in the South Pacific. Shepard spends his days between there and the Citadel, mostly fishing or enjoying the company of his friends.

Miranda starts up a new Pro-Human group, based on the Cerberus Manifesto, but avoids the you know.....genocide. She recruits numerous ex-Cerberus personnel such as Jacob, Brynn Cole et al...

Garrus becomes a leading member of the Turian Heirarchy and ambassador to the Krogan

Tali resigns as Admiral and instead focuses her efforts on being Quarian ambassador

James returns to active service and organizes a cross species special operations training program.

Joker, continues to pilot the Normandy under its new commander SPECTRE Kaidan Alenko. However he struggles with depression and alcoholism.

Urdnot Wrex and Grunt return to Tuchanka. Wrex leads the Krogan into a bright a peaceful future while Eve goes about restructuring Krogan society.

Javik travels the galaxy evantually retiring on Kahje, after publishing numerous books with Dr. T'soni.

Liara eventually tires of being the SB and hands the reins over to Feron. She then retires to a quiet corner of Thessia, only leaving rarely.

Samara continues being a justicar. Returning to Thessia on occasion to visit Falere, now running a new monestary.

Jack nearly relapses into her old ways after her students perished on Earth. However she receives an offer to help train new biotic students and manages to avoid falling into her past behavior.

Female Commander Shepard, Liara Romanced. All DLC. Destroy Ending, High EMS. Kaiden Perished on Virmire, Wrex Survived Virmire.

A few hours later: (August 2186)
Shepard is found alive (but in critical condition) on the Shattered Superstructure of the Citadel by C-Sec Patrols evacuating anyone they could find. She is taken to an Alliance Medical Facility in London back on Earth.
The Normandy luckily crash-lands on a previously uncharted (but life-sustaining) world in the Krogan DMZ. EDI's Gynoid body is destroyed in the crash, Her Quantum Blue Box is badly damaged (Irreparably so by human hands). EDI listed as KIA. Her last words before shutdown are "Thank you, Jeff. Good...B-"
All Geth Platforms not on Rannoch are lost as well. Those Geth platforms still on Rannoch (who were otherwise immune to the effects of the Reaper-killing beam emmited from the now damaged Perseus Veil Relay) decide to repair the Perseus Veil Relay.

One week later (August 2186)
The SSV Normandy SR2 Takes off from the Jungle Planet having salvaged the requisite parts from nearby conveniently wrecked nearby Cerberus cruisers.
The Geth (using the reaper code fragments still coded in their systems) Make short work of the Persues Veil Relay and move on to other Star Systems.
Jane Shepard in Stable condition at Diana memorial Hospital in the ruins of London.

One month Later (September 2186)
SSV Normandy SR2 finally reaches Jupiter in the Sol system. They dock at the Jovian refueling station on Ganymede (One of Jupiter's Moons) to Resupply. While there, Javik and James manage to incite a Bar Fight (Which is quickly ended with Ashley knocking both Crewmen unconscious).
Krogan forces return home to Tuchanka. Rebuilding of Cities and repopulation begins on the Krogan home world.
Geth manage to get 15% of the galactic Mass Relay network up to Operational Status.
Reconstruction begins on Thessia.
Reconstruction begins on Palaven.
Reconstruction of Major Cities on Earth begins.
Jane Shepard under Observation at Diana Memorial Hospital following Surgical Removal of damaged Cerberus implants.

One Week Later (September 2186)
After much confusion regarding the location of Commander Shepard, Jane Shepard and the Crew of the SSV Normandy SR-2 are reunited. James Proposes to Ashley. Garrus reunites with the female Turian he met at the bar on the Silver Coast Casino. Javik decides NOT to go through with his plans to end his own life [Editor's Note: He touched the Memory Shard] saying that "Ending my own life would dishonor the Memory of my people. In my Cycle, such displays of weakness of character would reflect poorly upon those we worked with" Also, he couldn't find a suitable Airlock on Earth to throw himself out of.
Brooks manages to Escape from Prison.

Theres more to this. Its just taken me more than an hour to put this together, so I should stop.

Far too long I fear. Basically, it's a Destruction ending based on the EC, but Geth / EDI come back later. Shepard survived, Ash is still around and they have a hard time to build up the Galaxy, facing at least one big war and several smaller conflicts before everything is good again.

The long version is -really- long.
