Who honestly feels that the ending just gets worse overtime.

But as soon as you're done, you have to go back to that same old ending that strips all of that away.

Youch, it emphasises the emotional trainwreck side of it? I suppose Leviathan had already done the job of emphasising the logical disaster. Nice to know that all these characters are going to be really, really upset at the end of the game isn't it?ratzerman wrote...
It's worse now because of Citadel. The Citadel DLC seems to have been crafted to specifically show you how much of a difference you made in the lives of your squadmates, and how much of a difference they made for you.

As for worse over time, not really. It was so blatently bad in the first place that it doesn't take a lot of extra digging that only reveals results months later to find things that make it worse and the surprise of how awful it was fades.

The more you think about it the worse it becomes you start to see gaping flaws in the narrative of the trilogy, and now with the Citadel DLC, well I'll just say it shines a light on how badly written the ending was. All I feel is disappointment when I think back on ME3.
This is pretty similar to how I feel. The more I think about the ending, especially in light of things like the Citadel DLC, it continues to baffle me how Bioware ever thought the ending was good enough. It's the biggest indicator that Bioware really didn't have any idea where the story of ME was going, so went with the worst conclusion possible.
When I look back on ME3, it's less with anger and more regret. Why did I waste my time with this series, knowing what it all builds up to? My issues with the game stretch beyond the ending, but overall the game makes me feel that I should never have spent so much time and invested so much into this franchise. If I could go back in time to the point where I was first about to purchase the games, I'd tell my past self to save his money, spare him from the disappointment.
Bingo, exactly how I feel.

Let alone the nonsense "be happy while the Galaxy burns", and that this DLC destroys the tragic thing that BW tryed to force down our throat,
Anyway, after the great time with the squaddies the ending becomes even worse, i guess

Nope. Love the ending.
Yup. And if I want a Happy Ending, I'll use MEHEM and play CITADEL after the ending. That way I get the fluffy ending I sometimes want.
And can still use Renegade Control in my Canon run.

Yep, it's like the EC's evac scene if you took your LI along on the mission. Some great dialogue that made the ending seem even worse to me. Then with Citadel, you have new reasons to care about the characters but still have no real epilogue for all of them. Unless you do try and force the Citadel to be a post-destroy or even as some have done, post-refuse event in which EDI is alive and all, it just makes the ending sadder and worse.

And how many of us are simply going to load up this DLC and skip playing through to the end? Better yet, how many of us are going to simply load the gamesave generated after beating the game?
Oh, there's still a war on? Well, Shepard did defeat the Reapers, maybe even survived the war, but "the details are lost in time". In practice lost when time is rewound back to before you assaulted TIM's base.

I can sympathize here: MEs 1 and 2 used to be togeather, my favourite game of the past 7-8 years... unfortunately, I can't play either anymore without thinking "what's the point?" an hour or so in and dropping them. Yes: ME3 is not only bad in and of itself, but it retroactively killed my enjoyment of the previous 2 games.

It does get worse. Even more so with the Citadel DLC.
The endings are just so bad.
Presentation = terrible
Execution = terrible
Outcomes = flawed with forced sadness
Lack of control over Shepard = Lack of control over Shepard.
The theme is bad too.
Why the endings are bad from a narrative perspective: http://awtr.wikidot....s-is-not-a-pipe
Why Synthesis in particular is bad: http://social.biowar...9404/4#16076107

The ending is still an abomination, and I'll never accept it, but I'm almost at the stage where I feel I can give the series another playthrough. Though it feels very pointless. That's why an ending means so much for a series such as this; it really does have an impact on your enjoyment of the earlier games (at least for me, and I'm sure others).
Disappointed that they didn't put a post-ending DLC out there - not for a happy ending, but a SATISFYING ending. Hudson and Mac shouldn't write again.

However the Mass Effect trilogy ends for me after the citadel DLC. The last mission doesn't exist for me.
The reason is because i expected the same amount of effort from the last mission ever since i saw how well "Suicide Mission" was made. But no we get linear approach which was huge disappointment for me, even more then the ending.
Shepard looking at Normandy with his LI and crew is my ending.
And i pretend that Shepard just goes on new adventures rather then going into hell.
