People need to understand something about Ash

As a result of her life experiances and profession she is a little more "rough around the edges" than the other love interests.
Tali wants to watch a movie, Liara wants to talk about music and play the piano...Ash offers a night out for drinks.
Its just part of her personality. She still is a great love interest, just different in her own way

I hate poetry.
I hate Ash. Although, I hated Kaiden more. Ash should just be grateful that Kaiden was annoying enough for me to happily leave him behind on Virmire. I would've left them both if I could've.

Tali lived for her father all her life to find out he was killed because of something she did (send back parts)
Miranda almost lost her sister, the only person she ever loved and ever had because her father (the only other family, sucks as a human being royally), and she almost lost her sister because of herself.
Garrus caused his entire unit to be killed
Thane is an assassin and all his kills have begun to get to his psyche. He wants to redeem himself for doing nothing but removing bad, but not adding good into the universe by saving his son.
And don't even let me get started on Jack...
So, what is this about Ash being "more rough around the edges"?

And no, I don't count Diana Allers as a true love interest (I don't count Kelly Chambers, either, but even if she was, she has emotional baggage, too, after being kidnapped).

Ash = best romance option of all. Miranda come in second, but ashley will be my romance in 90% of my playthroughs.
She's also one of the best squadmates, especially with garrus
she has gone through alot. Almost shot shepard, when thinking udina wasnt a traitor, lost her unit on eden prime, what happened to her family name because of her father, watched earth get hit by the reapers, and she got F'd up by Core on mars. Dont try to make her look weak, because thats a load of bull.

I would say Garrus is harder and more rough around the edges after Omega, Sovereign, SUicide Mission, and seeing Palaven be Reapered.
Your right, but Garrus is also a Turian and it's sort of expected given their culture.
Ash did watch Earth get attacked along with the entire crew of the Normandy, at least Palaven still had its defences and moon.
Ash gets a lot of hate for no reason really, she's not racist/xenophobic but rather has trust issues when it comes to aliens that is due partly to the treatement her family recieved after the first contact war. Her Grandfather surrended Shanxi to the Turians becoming the only human to surrender a world to a hostile alien force. But she is capable of getting over the issues and befriending the alien crew members abord the Normandy.
Also she is religious but not zealously so and she respects the views of others.
She states that she beleives in god but not in the fact that Humans have a divine madate over the other species.

Ash ..ahh the woman that proclaims "..I'm not some giggling school girl" in ME 1 and then giggles like a school girl in citadel - don't know if that is funny or sad or just tells something of the writing as of late.
I think that her writer changed after ME1 so some changes in her character can be placed on that change.

I found Kaidan kind of cool. A very down to earth, reasonable guy. Ash is just not cool. She maybe is what a lot of Soldiers are like in RL. Patriotic, Humans(=my Nation) first, in god we trust, and so on.

"Im not some bug-eyed alien"
the first quote I'm pretty sure she said "Is it just me or do Aliens look like alike" (I think this is more out of ignorance than anything and its actually quite hard to tell some of the turians/salarians apart, usually its only the markings that make them unique like the blue strips that garrus has)
and the second if that was from ME1 then she was talking about the Keepers(I think?)
She states something like "whats that bug thing over there" but I may have the wrong bit
