From what i can see it would be near impossible as there damage is to low, mobs would be huge problem..unless you kite..but thats extremely boring

First up:

SnS is the hardest warrior build to solo. It's also I'd say by far the most tedious. If you've never done a solo run before, then it's about the roughest introduction you could have to soloing. However, it's most definitely possible. I've done one myself. And this is also assuming you're destroying - or at least not equipping or selling - DLC gear, as using it basically removes any challenge in soloing.

So. Builds. You have two options really. Axe str or dagger dex. Axe means you hit harder, dagger means you have better defence. Late in the game, the dagger build is definitely stronger as you'll typically have something like 160 defence to augment your 45 armour and spell immunity. However, early on is when the game is much much harder (until about level 12 or so), and here the extra defence from daggers really doesn't make much impact. For this reason I used large weapons, but I know others have had success with daggers so both are viable.

The best origin is Dwarf Noble. You get that lovely dwarf magic resistance, start with combat training and shield bash, get the most gold, and find a some decent armour in the deep roads. The downside is that DN is probably the hardest origin to solo, as the game expects you to have a 4-man party for the hardest fights. But this is the build section, so...

Origin: DN
Attributes: Simple. One point in cunning to bring you to 16 with fade boost. Dex to 26 if you're using axes, otherwise pump it. Str between 26 and 42 if you're using daggers, otherwise pump it. Don't touch con/wil/mag - there are those who claim constitution and willpower are anything but useless, and those people are wrong.

Talents: Take shield pummel ASAP, it's your best offensive talent. Then to shield wall and shield expertise so that you're immune to knockdowns, then get overpower and assault if you're strength-oriented (dex dagger users will have a very weak overpower, and assault will be worse than autoattacking). The bottom line is sadly useless until you hit level 12 (you'll need to fight in corners anyway, and shield cover is outright worse than shield wall) . However you definitely want to take shield expertise at level 12. Next up is death blow, then talents from your second spec, then templar talents, then perfect striking, then you have more than you can use.

Specializations: Take templar at level 7, but don't bother with the talents until later. It's just there so you can equip knight-commander's plate. Second spec is optional, all 3 have their own perks and all are viable.

Skills: Obviously you'll want 4 in combat training. 4 in coersion is also a good idea. You want one in stealing for the quest line. One in poison to use grenades. if you're crafting yourself, then a second in poison and ~2 in herbalism. Priority is yours, though I'd definitely recommend at least one level in poison early.

Gear: Eventually, you'd want it to look something like:
HoH
KCP/Evon's
Veshaille
Howe's/Champion's/Aeducan shield
Cailan's Gauntlets / Diligence
Boots of Diligence
Andruil's Blessing
Lifegiver
Key to the City
Spellward

However, each piece isn't equally important. For stuff you're burning a lot of jink on, go for KCP first and lifegiver second, then spellward. Veshialle and Andruil's last.

Runes are important. You want two master dweomer runes in your weapon. These combined with KCP, spellward, your dwarf bonus and key to the city bring you to 100% spell resistance. Dweomer runes are available from Genitivi (after urn), Dagna as a quest reward and for money at Wonders of Thedas, so you can get 2 pretty easily. The third rune I'd make a hale rune to help with resisting stuns.

Playing - early on it's a lot of luring and keeping your back to a wall. I general, fighting 3 guys at once will lead to needing to drink more poultices than you can afford. And you need to stockpile them, because two fights in the DN origin are absolute asses. These are the mercenary group, and a darkspawn ambush just after you pick up the aeducan shield. Trian can also be tough if you end up fighting him. A very handy trick is to move very briefly just after your hit connects, then attack again. This lets you cancel the backswing and do a lot more damage than you otherwise would

Other Misc: grenades are amazing for you, as SnS is desperately lacking in AoE. You'll find a lot of acid flasks, and you can buy other types. If you get level 2 poison to craft them then you'll have a virtually unlimited supply.

Mercenaries in Origin: Basically, run as soon as the encounter starts. Run behind the first corner to LoS the archers, then fight briefly. Run behind the next one and fight again. Eventually a couple of crossbowmen will drop off, and you can fight the group. Plant yourself in a doorway so that no more than 2 can attack simultaneously and hack away.

Darkspawn ambush: Sadly, not much fancy to do here. Go for the archers first, then park yourself in a corner, and hope you have enough potions.

Korkari wilds and ostagar stategies are all very well documented. A lot of it will involve using a bow, and nothing's really unique to SnS.

From lothering, head to denerim and sell your stuff to gorim. Plus you pick up a nice shield. Head to frostback mountains, sneak past the bounty hunters and buy KCP. You can't win the bounty hunter or ambassador guy fights yet as a SnS. Lament your weakness and finish off lothering, then head to honnleath. Get the HoH, make/buy a handful of potions, then do the circle tower. Circle tower is also very well documented, including Uldred, where the standard strategy works (stay close or you'll get crushing prisoned and die, actively dodge massive attacks, spam potions).

After the circle tower you should be strong enough to take the bounty hunters and Imrek. Do so, enter orzammar, buy lifegiver, get key to the city, pickpocket champion's shield from Gavorn. You can do stuff in pretty much any order from here. Once you have good armour (KCP counts), lifegiver and have shield mastery the game becomes considerably easier.

How do you get Cailan's Gauntlets without having the RtO DLC?

I meant the stuff you start with i.e. blood dragon plate, battledress, reaper's cudgel etc.

Make sure to make use of the Blood Thirst ability from Warden's Keep DLC, gives you an all important attack speed buff.

Normally, if I make a sword and shield warrior than I'd use a combination of Blood Thirst + Haste from a mage to give my auto attacks ridiculous speed. Make sure to equip Damage Runes to boost your Auto Attack Effectiveness. Also, since your soloing, forget Champion and get Berserker as your specialization.
