When I'm playing as the Geth Juggernaut and I heavy melee someone, he keeps dropping the target after a few seconds.
Is this normal? Other players seem to be able to hold enemies indefinitely?

Your second question wasn't a question, it was a statement.
This is normal. They cannot be held indefinitely.

Having trouble using your Iwin button?

That is normal for the most part.
However, some do seem to be able to extend the length of the melee in times of lag when not host.

back on topic...
I have the same problem, and sometimes when I hit heavy melee it dosn't register and I can only light melee. I have a terrible connection tho

you have to hold the melee button to hold them for the entire duration otherwise it lets them go after a moment.

The Jug heavy melee has a set timer for use, with a cool down after.
They are about 8 and 1 seconds respectively.

I find if they fall out of range of your heavy melee you'll drop them early.
Of course, that's all when I was soloing on Bronze to test things out. Off-host lag does some strange things to Juggernaut Heavy Melee...

ffs, so if I use the juggernaut I should never use his heavy melee to placate "elitists".

Sometimes when there is some lag I will try hitting the heavy melee twice thinking it didn't register, or it somehow missed the thing standing in front of me again. It will then pick up a target and put it back down after a second. Is that what you're talking about?

Nah , use it up. Use it all the time. There are lots of iwin buttons in this game. You would be foolish not to use it.

Lasts for something like 6 ticks.
I've never been able to hold it indefinitely, but you can start again pretty soon after.

Lets say my juggernaut picks up a marauder
I hold and shock him for a few seconds, 3 or 4 at the most and then he just drops them, is it because i picked hardened platform
either way it rarely kills a full health enemy for me (just drops the guy) even though my controller is fine and im holding the button.

Its my understanding that the Juggernaut is a character primarily meant for team play, relying on other players and having other players rely on it in turn.

I've found success in making sure a few things happen in patterns.
Firstly, make sure you have an enemy in your reticule, even if it's further away you will actually melee someone nearer if there's any in range. Weird mechanic but once you're used to it it's quite handy.
Hold the melee button (I'm on PC...) for as long as it will let you. As soon as the guy drops tap your melee once for his pulse, then hold your heavy melee again. (Again insuring you have someone in your reticule. In this way you regen, punt back, then regen. I've tanked 2 brutes, and 2 banshees with this method on platinum and not gone down.
If you want real success (meaning killing things AND tanking) don't get yourself into trouble trying to tank as much at once as possible, tank fewer things, use LoS as often as possible, and only heavy melee when you need the shields or the invincibility against knock downs. This is ridiculously effective against Geth Bomber attacks and if you time it well you can be draining an atlas while he winds up, pulse him after the swing/missile which knocks him back, then put a full clip of *insertgun* into his windshield, then repeat.
It's easy to tank with these guys and do no damage, which is where the elitist jerks come in, it's actually quite a bit of fun to tank and kill things just as easily if not more so because you can frontline it better than any class around.
If you get adept at using your turret for shield restoration you can fore-go heavy melees quite often and continue to do damage as well. Like timing your turret for right after a banshee does her AoE Howl so your turret stays in range and functional for as long as possible, or placing it behind corners out of LoS of enemies.
Uh yeah. >.> <.<

I prefer just tanking with him and taking the pressure off my team mates. If I want to go kill everything in sight I can just pick another class, but I think his melee is very valuable to teammates because its pretty much statis that works on everything
I was getting confused because my brother uses him the Squad Command and I use mine with Harderned Platform, I thought maybe the 50% melee bonus was actually shortening the amount of time I could hold enemies.
