I just saw it on dragon age wiki that the quality of Warden Commander's Armor Set varies from tier 1 to 7, depending on the level of my character when I get it. So I'm just curious at what level will my character get tier 7 armor set? Anyone knows? Thanks! ;)

I'm actually waiting on tier 7 with my character right now. I think around 15 you can upgrade to tier 7.

Any armor which has tiers can be "upgraded". You sell it to a merchants, leave and come back and it will be at a tier more appropriate to your level. Obviously you'll lose some money on the transaction, so I most often here people using the guys actually at Warden's Keep as they have better prices then most of the other merchants.

If you get the armor when you are low-level, you'll get the Tier 3 or 4 version. You can upgrade the armor later when you're high-level by selling the parts to the blacksmith at Warden's Keep, then buying it back (about 30 sovereigns).

Sweet, I didn't know that, thanks! :)

Does this work for all armour and weapons or just the warden stuff?

It works for most armor & weapons. Only several items can't be upgraded.

Level 18. With patch 1.02 you also have to sell to the merchant within the DLC to buy back later at higher tier.

Edit: Merchant=The black Smith. Sometimes I assume you know things that you really should/shouldn't

...I waited until level 15 on my latest playthrough to do Wardens' Keep and I got T6 chest, T6 boots, and T7 gloves. So, I agree that level 15 is right around the point where T7 starts showing up, and getting the "upgrade" by selling to one of the Drydens would probably take until about level 18 for full T7.

so how different are the stats between tiers?

The special stats are the same. What changes are the base stats for the armor. All tier 7 massive have the same armor, fatigue, and strength required stats.

Which for some characters you might want the lower tier armor if you want to put it on a dual wielder for example who doesn't have a high enough strength requirement to wear tier 7 massive armor.

You can just delete the text in the multiples, so it takes up less room.

Also, if you use the user-made add-on "Winter's Forge" you should be able to actually upgrade the armor yourself, by using dragonbone ingots. Again, though, that requires an additional add-on. It IS pretty nifty though.

Hmm. Not sure if they changed it in the latest patch or not but I always just put the armor in the party chest then left the area. When I returned, sometimes it would be upgraded, sometimes it would be the same, and sometimes it was a worse quality. It's based around your level but there seems to be a bit of randomness in there too when determining the quality that you get.

I had no idea armors could be upgraded. is this just for the special armors? what about regular chainmails, splintmail, and scale? can they get upgraded?

what about weapons?

I've tested this on patch 1.02 a bunch of times, never works.

I'm sure it works for weapons as well, so long as the tiers aren't fixed (leaving you with the basic weapons)

I have the 1.02 updated patch and I bought the upgraded tier 7 dragonbone warden's armor at level 15.
