Apparently you can stick your armour in the Party Storage Chest and it will upgrade itself. Theres a risk that it can downgrade itself, too. Not sure how it all works and I haven't tried it out. I'm going to give it a whirl soon as I like having a storage chest early on to hoard all my loot.

I've used the party chest to upgrade armor many times. It does scale down and up but-
If you go by yourself instead of bringing companions along it scales with you. Sometimes you might have to get, say the gloves that scaled to tier 7 but not the breastplate, so you take the gloves leave and go back to camp or where ever and then go back to the chest. Do it several times if need be but it will scale. Take what you want, leave the rest there.
If you take your companions with you make sure they are your level or higher. Zev is a good choice because you get him at (I think) level 12 for him so it will scale with you and him.
This has always worked for me.
Note: i'm a xbox 360 player, i've no idea if it works on the pc or not.

If you don't want to lose the money you can leave it in the party storage chest for a while, takes a long time though.

On PC I've always been able to upgrade by selling to one of the Dryden brothers and re-buying, but never for free in the party chest.

On PS3 evrything you leave in their eventually levels up. Sometimes I leave armour in there and sell it later when it's worth more money. For some reason 2 pieces of WC armour level faster than the other.

So far on the PC, I have been able to sell low level items, save the game and then reload the game to get an upgrade. It seems to be a random level every time the game is loaded so sometime I have to reload a couple of times to get the level I want. Has anyone try this with the party storage chest?

I ususally do the Keep dlc right after Ostagar and Shale, and my armor is ususally tier 3....
If you get it at Tier 6/7 do the stats improve much?

The stats are comparable to all the other superior quality top tier armors in the game. I think whether to use the WC set or the Legion of the Dead or Juggernaut sets is a matter of personal preference about the way the armor looks.
If you're playing on PC just love the way the armor looks and want it to be tier 7 I suggest waiting to acquire it until you're high enough level to get the top stuff. For both my sister and me, trying to upgrade the tier turned out to be buggy. Neither selling it with Levy Dryden or leaving it in the party storage chest worked for us to increase its level. I don't know if selling it to a non-DLC merchant like Gorim would have helped.
