The main enemy is the uber-cliched "evil clone" trope, every other line consists of squadmates trying to outdo each other with painful quips, Blasto making a contrived appearance, and constant pandering to the waifu/husbando crowd. All that would've been bad enough on its own, but the fact they're doing this while the galaxy is being harvested just makes them appear irresponsible and unheroic. I even opposed romances in the vanilla ME3 for just that reason.

This DLC was just shameless fanservice of the worst kind, the kind that even most of the fans in question would consider forced, contrived, and blatant. I felt like Bioware hired the writers for it by browsing ME fanfic sites and hired the ones who wrote the most absurd fics.

So this is how ME3 ends. Screw the war, we're partying. Enjoy it before Starbrat wipes out the galaxy.

Sorry, but Citadel was cheesy in the best possible way. I'm pretty sure you're objectively wrong.

You definitely are objectively wrong as far as hanging out while the war is on goes, at least. Soldiers that don't get R&R don't stay sane. Period.

From what I hear, the writers gave too much attention to all the glurge addict Talifans and made her romance scenes sappier than a pine tree in the DLC...

I would agree if the DLC took itself seriously. It doesn't. Think of it as just good fun, like a mario game or something. Plot is irrelevant.

The ship had to be repaired and fixed after the events of the story, why not throw a party instead of waiting. Also the next morning Shepard gives Joker a firm it's time to get back to work.

It's a love letter to the fans.
(Obviously not everyone got what they wanted, and there were some definite misfires, but still)

My Mass Effect still ended with Shepard dying for her galaxy. I don't mind that her last R&R was classy, and she had the whole gang together first.

But hey, I may be the worst kind of fan. I try to take the DLCs as part of the story. After all, it's how it comes up on most of my playthroughs!

I like how the OP implies the rest of the game wasn't bad fanfic.

Thing is, I look at ME3 as a whole, DLC included. The vanilla game, Leviathan, and Omega all take themselves very seriously, so for this part to break that trend was very jarring.

What a shame, the Citidel DLC, agrees OP.

Fringe and Star Trek take themselves pretty damn seriously too, but they have off-the-wall episodes breaking up their attitude.  Hell, STIV: The Voyage Home is practically one long comedy bit.

That may have been the problem.  Although I don't think Omega took itself that seriously.

And that's the issue. Bioware is horrible with stories that take itself too seriously, politics and other stuff since ME2. I rather Bioware make products like the Citadel.

It's silly and contrived but fun, no where close to bad.

It's a fanservice DLC. It's a lot better than the standard serious DLC. I don't see the point in making another serious DLC when we already have the other DLCs for that, and it wouldn't have changed the ending anyway. This DLC is all about fun and saying goodbye to the characters. I like it a lot.

We are still talking about the franchise with an asari-cloning, mind-controlling plant, right?

Yup, even the first game was silly. A game can be silly and still fun. Not all devs can be well written, complex stories. Bioware did in the past, but that age is gone. They should make products they are good at, which is fun adventurs that are silly, cheesy but still a blast to play.

The theme was good...
It's the people around Shepard, the ones he cares about, that make him who he is...
