If the Citadel DLC is bad fanfic, I guess I f*ckin' love bad fanfic.

This.  It was silly as hell, but hilarious.

Sorry, but Citadel was cheesy in the best possible way. I'm pretty sure you're objectively wrong.

You definitely are objectively wrong as far as hanging out while the war is on goes, at least. Soldiers that don't get R&R don't stay sane. Period.

We are still talking about the franchise with an asari-cloning, mind-controlling plant, right?

Yup, even the first game was silly. A game can be silly and still fun. Not all devs can be well written, complex stories. Bioware did in the past, but that age is gone. They should make products they are good at, which is fun adventurs that are silly, cheesy but still a blast to play.

What a shame, Bioware sold out to the LowComDom, what a shame.

hahhaha I love commentary of people that didn't got the joke. Dude, it's just a happy moment, a comedy episode in the middle of a drama, no big deal. In this DLC, Bioware is make fun exactly of this kind of opinion, so.. deal with that =D

It's a fanservice DLC. It's a lot better than the standard serious DLC. I don't see the point in making another serious DLC when we already have the other DLCs for that, and it wouldn't have changed the ending anyway. This DLC is all about fun and saying goodbye to the characters. I like it a lot.

Ditto that.  The game itself is already dark and somber enough.  It needed some lighthearted moments.  ;)

Apparently BioWare now cater to the masses, which is a contradictory statment given what he's responding to.

The silliness was what made it endearing. And yeah, we've had clones in the series since ME1, the universe is not as hard science as people think.

On the other hand, some of it did go a bit too far. The "Shepard-Wrex-Grunt' thing was not funny in the slightest and Javik's bit with Blasto was very difficult to swallow.

Almost every concept/theme in the ME trilogy has been done to death by other pieces of fiction.

What matters most is EXECUTION of those done to death concepts. How those concepts are handled are usually a hit or a miss with Bioware. ME3's endings? Miss. But this DLC was a definite hit.

How is cloning not "hard science". It's so mundane that we can do it today. We've cloned frogs, mice, rats, sheep, dogs. We could clone a man, the notion is so feasable that laws were put in place to make doing so illegal in many nations.

I assure you it -has- most likely been done in secret. Clones are science fact.

I sort of feel like an ass for not finding ME1 particularly cheesy now.
I thought it played everything relatively straight, or at least pretty dry.

I actually thought that bit was funny. Mainly not Javik's role but I did enjoy Shepard's interaction with Blasto with the whole "Me/Mine" "No Me/Mine" punching back and forth bit. Grunt interaction was priceless.

ME1 has some iffy parts but nothing on the level of lazarus, space terminator, crucible or starchild.

The Citadel DLC is filled with light-hearted moments with an extra helping of cheese, but it is also worth every penny. While not every scene or joke was a home run, it succeeded enough. And while I think a dark and somber tone was entirely appropriate for the majority of the DLC, I also think there is nothing wrong with having a couple DLC missions and some downtime afterwards that lightens the mood.

The gameplay portions of the DLC shouldn't be underrated either. class-based interrupts, new, varied and challenging enemies, and a fun and memorable boss battle at the conclusion.

Yeah, but AFAIK we can't grow a human clone to adulthood in just two years.

No. We can't travel at faster than light speeds, either. There are so many things in Mass Effect that are much less feasable than Shepard's clone.

i still feel like that shouldn't apply here. to quote the leviathans, "there is no war, only the harvest". there are no rules of engagement or any kind of geneva convention. every organic species in the galaxy is fighting for survival against insurmountable odds.

that being said..... i think they did an okay job of justifing the normandy crew's shore leave and it didn't bother me as much as i thought it would, it just depends when you do it. i avoided doing the dlc prior to chronos simply because....

"hey miranda thanks for getting that tracking device onto kai leng for me. we'll get right on that as soon as we get back from some R & R,. normandy could also use an oil change."

as for the cheesiness, it was okay in the beginning, but by the time you're doing the archives mission it's layed on waaaaaay too much. some would be okay, but just because i have every single me3 squad member there, does not mean they need to keep trying to one-up eachother with one-liners every 5 seconds. picture javik and liara cracking jokes on thessia<_<
