As far as complex stories go for game standards, Bioware does a great job.

You're just angry because the clone adds ambiguity to the breath scene (and it probably was the clone we saw, too).

Ambiguity? Like anyone cares, the story is finished.

I like how the OP implies the rest of the game wasn't bad fanfic.
Of course, but most of the time they've got less ridiculous characters around them and a half-decent universe to explore, which goes a long way to obscuring just how over the top the protagonist is.

Speaking of Star Trek, my favourite episode of the series was the one with all the evil clones. Bearded Spock was especially epic.dreamgazer wrote...

BioWare gives the fans more or less what we ask for, and it's called cheap fanservice. They don't, and they're insensitive jerks who don't listen. There's no way to win with you people.

The Shepard Clone in relation to the Lazerus project reminded me of Lex Luthor from the Smallville series. When he was nearly killed in an explosion, Luthor created a series of progressively more perfect clones with the purpose of harvesting them for their organs and so reparing himself.

Well we know where Supermac likes to get his inspiration from.

i still feel like that shouldn't apply here. to quote the leviathans, "there is no war, only the harvest". there are no rules of engagement or any kind of geneva convention. every organic species in the galaxy is fighting for survival against insurmountable odds.
that being said..... i think they did an okay job of justifing the normandy crew's shore leave and it didn't bother me as much as i thought it would, it just depends when you do it. i avoided doing the dlc prior to chronos simply because....
"hey miranda thanks for getting that tracking device onto kai leng for me. we'll get right on that as soon as we get back from some R & R,. normandy could also use an oil change."
as for the cheesiness, it was okay in the beginning, but by the time you're doing the archives mission it's layed on waaaaaay too much. some would be okay, but just because i have every single me3 squad member there, does not mean they need to keep trying to one-up eachother with one-liners every 5 seconds. picture javik and liara cracking jokes on thessia<_<
It's not about rules of engagement. It's simple psychology. ME3 takes place over the course of weeks, if not months. Shepard and Company simply CANNOT fight every hour of every day for that long a duration. Besides, all sorts of shore leave and minutia are already taking place behind the scenes with the player none the wiser. The Normandy needs to return to the Citadel to pick up non-fuel supplies, shifts change, people go to the bathroom, etc. The Reapers showing up doesn't magically give Shepard infinite stamina and mental fortitude, nor does it alleviate the normal logistical concerns of warfare and space travel.
As for the light-heartedness, if you don't laugh you'll cry. Simple as that. James and Garrus aren't going to gawk at a Reaper and talk about how impossible it is to fight when there isn't a Reaper around and they're blowing up mere mortals.

I agree with this. I don't understand how a fan can complain about fan-service.... So wait? You don't want service? And then there's exactly what was said in the quote.

Sorry, but Citadel was cheesy in the best possible way. I'm pretty sure you're objectively wrong.
You definitely are objectively wrong as far as hanging out while the war is on goes, at least. Soldiers that don't get R&R don't stay sane. Period.
And special operations forces can stay in theater at a forward location for a year or more at a shot. Considering ME3 takes place over a course of a few months, Shep "needing" rest and relaxation is rather unprofessional. Especially when the ship has a bar, card table, and exercise facilities. There was plenty of space to decompress on the ship. Shore leave was unnecessary. It's a bad fan-fic.

if thats fanfic...then great!
I thought the dlc was awesome fun. I didnt want to like it, cuz of the awful endings.
but, I took it as is, and found that I truly enjoyed it.
if only the endings could have had a bit more of the dlc flavor!

Pretty sure if this keeps up Bioware is eventually going to be like "You know what f*ck the fans let's just do what we want."

And this fan very much enjoyed being serviced.
This fan is smoking a cigarette right now and lying next to BioWare, going, "Was that good for you too?"
This fan knows many people who are doing the same.
We the cigarette-smoking conglomerate of satisfied fans feel you are just jealous that you did not get laid.
Stubborn fool. If you had only abandoned your foolish dignity and given yourself up to the guilty pleasure, you too could be smoking a cigarette.

I have a feeling that if Bioware had included this dlc in the begining (I know impossible) that people wouldn't be complaining as much as they are now. Or if the entire game was written like this I believe a lot more people would have enjoyed it more. I think Bioware doesn't do seriousness all that well. When Bioware can fun, I believe anyway, they write pretty damn well.MB957 wrote...
