The main enemy is the uber-cliched "evil clone" trope, every other line consists of squadmates trying to outdo each other with painful quips, Blasto making a contrived appearance, and constant pandering to the waifu/husbando crowd. All that would've been bad enough on its own, but the fact they're doing this while the galaxy is being harvested just makes them appear irresponsible and unheroic. I even opposed romances in the vanilla ME3 for just that reason.

This DLC was just shameless fanservice of the worst kind, the kind that even most of the fans in question would consider forced, contrived, and blatant. I felt like Bioware hired the writers for it by browsing ME fanfic sites and hired the ones who wrote the most absurd fics.

So this is how ME3 ends. Screw the war, we're partying. Enjoy it before Starbrat wipes out the galaxy.

Alert.Alert. We got a negative nancy on the premises.

And that's sayin' something cause I can be quite a nihilistic ******. But you good sir take the cake this time. Go ahead and have a piece on me.

BioWare gives the fans more or less what we ask for, and it's called cheap fanservice. They don't, and they're insensitive jerks who don't listen. There's no way to win with you people.

I agree with this. I don't understand how a fan can complain about fan-service.... So wait? You don't want service? And then there's exactly what was said in the quote.

Pretty sure if this keeps up Bioware is eventually going to be like "You know what f*ck the fans let's just do what we want."

With Citadel DLC BioWare pretty much proved that it was never much about "artistic integrity"

They never were, outside of sticking to their guns with the ending.

I know... it´s jurt hilarious, with EC BioWare made a retcons just to make their "clarification" and then they throw to your face few cakes just to be entertained. With EC they actually could destroy IT as much clear the meaning of rubble scene, while they choose to left it "up to your imagination" because they didn´t want to make an ending with Shepard walking in sunshine and rainbow.

loljk but OP has proven not be a *** this time, kudos, i agree with you, somewhat. I just didn't take this seriously, atleast not as a plotwise dlc, just fanservice for the waifu people.

At first the romance was kinda cute, but then it got overplayed, i liked it better when there was a priiiiize.

You're just angry because the clone adds ambiguity to the breath scene (and it probably was the clone we saw, too).

No, I'm angry because it's an overdone and tired cliche. I'd feel the same way if there was no breath scene.

A point was previously made about soldiers needing r&r. That is a comparison to real life events, inviting my comparison. Simply put, the top-tier combatants during open hostilities don't get to take a few days off after a couple of weeks in the sh*t. Deployments regularly last more than 6 months, with the entire time spent at a forward post. The entertainment facilities aboard the Normandy are substantially better than what the average Green Beret or SEAL has access to in Afghanistan today.

But you're right, I can't point you to a real person who puts up with what Shepard has. However, you can likewise not point me to said face-melting lovecraftian constructs, actual space marines, or any form of zombie that isn't just a hypnotic trance. In the end, we can only draw similarities to real life. And in real life, the guys doing the heaviest lifting in a war don't take breaks. So Shep needing shore leave was crap. End of story.

If we're sticking to real-life analogues, Shepard is a marine and an astronaut in one. He deals with the rigors of combat and space travel, as well as the bizarre atmosphere and gravity differences of dozens of different worlds. Granted, space travel isn't as physically intense in the ME universe thanks to Mass Effect fields and other tech, but it still has similar psychologically and physically degenerative effects even with artifical gravity.

It's by definition not fan-fic, and the dialogue is fantastic. Don't agree.

Almost, but not quite. The correct statement is:

why not throw a party instead of waiting

Why not do something constructive instead? In the main game, Garrus is shown to be helping organise things in the refugee camp, Liara is shown to be working on the Crucible project, the Spectre terminal allows Shepard to do necessary paperwork, etc - why abandon all that in the middle of the war? Or maybe organise alternative transport?

And yeah, it doesn't fit the game at all; it would have made for a good epilogue however (that "one more story")

Guys, making a clone is not difficult (by ME standards) and for all you know they might have made more (how about a ME: The Clone Wars sequel?)

I would agree if the DLC took itself seriously. It doesn't. Think of it as just good fun, like a mario game or something. Plot is irrelevant.

And what about those who have been enjoying BioWare's products since the Baldur's Gate days who also enjoyed this DLC?

Before playing it and on first run with the clone I didn't care for it. Second run, I decided that I can headcannon the crappy ending with disaster and who cares what anyone thinks? Now, I get some quality time with my squaddies that ME3 lacked. There's the team fight. Good cutscenes with characters. And the party gives some sense of cohesiveness to the squad as does the battle where they all are involved. Plus, it ends perfectly on the docks after the party where they have a nice moment. My shepard can die or live. Whatever I choose after I pick destroy. I can head cannon it however I want since BW forced me to do that. But I now have a sense of closure that they failed to give us in all the other DLC and the original game pre DLC and EC. It took this to make me feel better about the end of the run. I applaud BW for that perfect moment before they get back onto the ship to deal with the craptastic ending.

Don't forget, this game was born an RPG and became an epic war/shooter thanks to the crappy visions of the writers. This DLC actually gave back some of the important RPG character elements and gave back the ME1 crew which most fell in love with years ago.

The worst aspect of citadel to me is evil clone shepard... I mean: when you are fishing ideas from "All my circuits" from futurama, you have a problem.

The reason it has gotten so much love in my opinion is that it evolks some of the better character stuff from ME 2, ie: what ME3 COULD have, and should have been. At best, your favourite character looks good, at worst, all save the clone thing is inoffensive compared to the rest of the game.

Nope, I'll admit both ME2 and ME3 where cpoorly written with stand points, that's it. Only ME was the best written product in the series.
