I go through  loops of decent fps to extremely low even if im doing nothing but running in circles. Literally 5 second intervals.

I played through ME1 with 2 different Shepards with absolutely no problems. Then I got ME2 and for a long time ignored the first game. I came back a while later and started a third Shepard, only to find the game almost unplayable because of this terrible FPS stuttering I get every 5 seconds. I don't mean every 5 seconds on average-- I can
literally count the seconds between stutters and it's about 4-5 seconds every time.

Is there a ini fix im missing? People keep alluding to solving the issue by manipulating ini files, but never detail what they did. I played me1 years ago and never had an fps issue like this.

Edit: I reinstalled and updated to 1.02, but still have the same frame rate woes. Game is unplayable like this

Cycle from high fps for 5 seconds into low fps for 5 seconds..rinse and repeat

I got it to work! Turns out i had some toolbar malware eating up my cpu resources.

Check your prgrams for something called start now toolbar and if u have it uninstall that sucker
