He doesn't need to get back to me, the answer is simple.

Nothing is ever priced what it costs to make. No profit would be made. If a majority of games as they are now, standard edition (not limited eds), were priced at $100 or more, they wouldn't make better profit than $50-60 because people just aren't willing to pay that much money. Simple business practice. Also, if a game ships with bugs, its the developer and QA's fault, not the publisher i.e. EA. The masters of buggy games, Bethesda, hardly come under fire but when EA and BioWare or Visceral ship a 95% functional game, they come under fire? Ridiculous.

That's a bit schyzophrenic in it's statements/presentation.

It sounds like you're saying no one ever made a profit by adjusting their prices based on their costs. You would have to be very... blind to reality... to believe that.

Or, perhaps you're trivializing the point by reducing the original criticism to "Charge exactly what it costs to make." and arguing against that, which would be very silly, and arrogant.

It may be common practice to raise prices without an actual causal increase in cost, but to suggest no one ever does business any other way...?

And, Bethesda hardly came under fire? Were you not around when Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas were released? There was a s***storm for months until there had been a couple of patches.

It's okay to defend the company your friends work for, but condescending to people for legitimite criticism isn't going to change a single person's mind. It'll probably reinforce a lot of the resentment, actually, so you're not doing your friend any favours.

And my rule is, once I've answered to someone I know is trolling, I've made a mistake. So it's time for me to go. Sorry.

Good to know my SimCity bugs probably aren't on my end. Maybe Maxis had a little too much faith in Origin, or maybe they had no choice but to go as connected as they did.

Bioware is the slave and EA is the cruel master if you don't know...

I wonder if you could take them to trading standards for selling a product that's not fit for purpose... though I strongly suspect there's some weasely get-out clause in the EULA somewhere; I sometimes wonder how many of these EULAs would actually pass legal oversight.

Ah, critical thinking here!!! I thought it had died....

The EULA is legalese, not law, and is mostly a bunch of crap. With motivation, a group with a strong legal representation could poke some holes and get some results.

Alas, this "gaming" is actually how we choose to have fun, and not the place where we want to get litigious... we just want things to work; we want to play with out toys. We often forget that we are grown and have power in the real world when in the mindframe of said person's favorite fantasy world.

EA knows this and abuses it. We should not support them. Sorry Bioware, I no longer support you either. The Citadel DLC was disgusting, and absolutely sealed the deal for me on ME4 - I will not buy it, Mass Effect ends for me with the original Destroy ending and a bitter taste in my mouth. EA is primarily to blame, and I have seen this cycle over and over. My favorite gaming company was once called Origin, by Lord Brittish.

BioWare are still awesome... The recent Citadel DLC proves this... EA on the other hand has done nothing positive

Lol.
But honestly, the Sim City release is an outrage to put it mildly. I used to refuse always-online games and Ubi hasn't seen a single Euro from me during their policy was active.
But this is Sim City, yeah, I should have listened to the reasoning voice.

EA own BioWare ie they are the same company. BioWare is simply a brand.

EA owns all the assests of Bioware and can shut them down whenever they feel they are not pulling their weight. Pretty much Bioware is living on borrowed time since selling themselves to EA and were much better off when they were stand alone and publishing through Microsoft.

And like the games or not, this is just simple fact. EA has a nasty habit of killing companies.

Remember Pandemic Studio's?. They had ONE bad game and EA shut them down in the middle of producing another which could have been good.

And if I recall they disolved the original Maxis team immediatly after the Sims creator left, and replaced them with a company that until then had only been known for making racing games.

I imagine with the loss/coming loss of their sports title monopoly we are going to see some bad storms coming from EA, not just with SimCity. But, with loss of profit from shoddy products, they might start hack and slashing their subdivisions to save themselves.

I just hope EA won't kill BW in case things go south with ME4 or even the new DA3 they're working on or w/e

The industry needs more producers with BW's passion and dedication to their fans.

I wish them well

Poor Pandemic. And I was so hoping they were going to announce Battlefront 3. =[
